CEMETERY VISITS Due to the number of sacraments, 40 day blessings and memorials on Sundays it is difficult to make cemetery visits on Sundays after liturgy. If you would like a Trisagion at the graveside during the week you are kindly asked to make an appointment by calling the church office. HOSPITAL VISITS Due to HIPAA privacy rules, hospitals no longer provide a list of Orthodox patients to us. Therefore, if you or a loved one are, or will be, in the hospital, please contact the church office for a pastoral visit. Also, please notify the office if a friend or family member is in a rehab center, nursing home, assisted living facility or under hospice care. WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly, the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives, only Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church. As part of the high school Sunday school class faith in action initiative the first charity we will be working with this year is Together We Rise. Together We Rise is a charity that focuses their work on children within and going into the foster care system. We will be donating our resources to assembling and decorating duffle bags for children going into foster care. These children are normally given one or two trash bags and told to put their belongings in them when they are being removed from their homes. This program aims to give them something of their own, to take on this journey something that can continue to take with them where ever they go. This program helps give these children a sense of worth, and safety, when their whole world goes upside down. Once we do our fundraising, Together We Rise will send us all of the supplies based on the amount of bags we order. Each bag kit comes with a duffle bag, a teddy bear, warm blanket, crayons, an art book, and a hygiene kit. We also have the option to add additional age appropriate items. Once the bags are assembled the students will be able to deliver them to local foster children, as part of the program Together We Rise pairs us up with a local organization so that we can bring them in person. Each bag is 25 dollars, and includes the bag, all of the items to put inside and the decorating materials. If you or a group you belong too would like to sponsor, all, or part of a bag price, or donate some other new children s items, i.e. children s puzzles, books, coloring books, ect. PARISH ORATORICAL FESTIVAL Parish Oratorical Festival: Sunday, March 4, 2018 Our parish will once again be hosting its Oratorical Festival on Sunday, March 4. The Oratorical Festival is a program that invites youth of our parish in grades 3-12 to speak about their Faith, their Church and their heritage. Those who wish to participate this year must be registered by February 1.
