The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 6:11-18 Brethren, see with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that would compel you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who receive circumcision do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may glory in your flesh. But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. Henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen. September 2018 Dear Parents: If anything is capable of strengthening Orthodoxy as a faith, as a tradition, and as a way of life in this beloved country of ours, it is the greater consciousness of Orthodoxy. Motivated by this conviction, our parish will do everything possible so that our children may know the truth concerning their faith and their Church. For this reason, I call upon you to register your children to our Sunday School program. Sunday School classes start Sunday, October 7 th at 10am promptly. At catechism, your children will have the opportunity to learn what they should believe, how they should behave, and how they should worship in order to be worthy of the name of Christians. In a few words, your children will be initiated into the chief doctrinal teachings and moral obligations of the Eastern Orthodox faith. PLEASE, do not neglect to register your children, we are looking forward to their attendance. We have an exciting agenda planned for the year with much participation from your children beginning with the first day of Sunday School October 7 th ; in which we will dedicate this Sunday to our registered Sunday School and have them participate in the blessing of the Artoklasia dedicated to them. All registered Sunday School children are to sit in the designated front pews to observe & listen to the teachings of the gospel every Sunday 10:00 am sharp! There are only a few Sundays of catechesis during the year. We will be honored to educate your child /ren in our faith. To those of you who have already registered your children, I extend my gratitude and congratulations for making the best decision for your precious ones. Please join us on Sunday, September 16 th, 23 rd, and the 30 th to register your child/ren for Sunday School with a minimal fee of $10 per child to cover teaching supplies.
