Δ-Εωθινόν Ευαγγέλιο Γ *********************************************************************************** Βασική προϋπόθεση για την Θεία Κοινωνία, η ευλογία του Πνευματικού μας. Ο Θεός να δώσει, ώστε να εξομολογηθείς και να κοινωνήσεις όπως πρέπει. Έτσι ο αγώνας της νηστείας και όσα τυχόν κέρδισες απ αυτόν, θα επισφραγιστούν με τη θεϊκή σφραγίδα των ιερών Μυστηρίων.Μακάρι να εξομολογηθείς με αληθινή μετάνοια και με τη σταθερή απόφαση της διορθώσεως. Μη φοβάσαι. Αυτός ο φόβος είναι εντελώς ανώφελος και δυσκολεύει τα πράγματα.ο ευλαβικός φόβος του Θεού είναι ωφέλιμος και σωτήριος, ενώ ο φόβος της Εξομολογήσεως είναι επιβλαβής και, θα έλεγα, παιδιάστικος. Ο εχθρός τον εμπνέει. Πήγαινε στον Κύριο (στο πετραχήλι του ιερέως) όπως πήγε στον πατέρα του ο άσωτος υιός της ευαγγελικής παραβολής, επιστρέφοντας από την αμαρτωλή ζωή: Με συντριβή αλλά και με ηρεμία. Όταν εκείνος γύρισε στο πατρικό σπίτι, ο πατέρας του τι έκανε; Μήπως τον μάλωσε; Κάθε άλλο. Έτρεξε κοντά του, τον αγκάλιασε και τον φίλησε. Έτσι θα κάνει νοερά και σ εσένα ο ουράνιος Πατέρας σου. Απλώνει κιόλας τα χέρια Του προς το μέρος σου. Δεν έχεις παρά να τρέξεις κοντά Του. Κάνε το με ευλαβική αγάπη.το βασικότερο στοιχείο της μετάνοιας είναι η οδύνη της καρδιάς για την αμαρτωλότητά της και η σταθερή απόφασή της για διόρθωση. Έχεις ήδη αποφασίσει να ευαρεστήσεις τον Κύριο. Και Εκείνος έχει αποφασίσει να αποδεχθεί με χαρά την απόφασή σου.οδύνη, όμως, την αμαρτωλότητά σου νιώθεις; Ακόμα κι αν οι αμαρτίες σου δεν είναι πολλές ή βαριές, είναι ωστόσο αμαρτίες και προκαλούν λύπη στον Θεό. Ντρεπόμαστε τους ανθρώπους για κάποιες επιπολαιότητές μας, αστόχαστα λόγια ή απρόσεκτα έργα, και δεν ντρεπόμαστε τον Κύριο όχι για απλές επιπολαιότητες,αλλά για αμαρτίες! Μάθε, λοιπόν, να βιώνεις την κατά Θεόν συντριβή και λύπη, που υψώνει μέσα σου κάστρο ισχυρό ενάντια στα ελαττώματα και τις αδυναμίες σου.στη μετάληψη των θείων Μυστηρίων πήγαινε με απλότητα καρδιάς, με βαθειά ευλάβεια και με τη βέβαιη πίστη ότι θα λάβεις μέσα σου τον Κύριο. Εκείνος μετά τη Θεία Κοινωνία, θα αλλοιώσει την ψυχή σου όπως, ως πανάγαθος, θέλει και όπως, ως πάνσοφος, γνωρίζει. Άφησέ Τον να το κάνει ελεύθερα. Εσύ μην Του ζητάς τίποτα, καθώς άλλοι, που επιθυμώντας άκυρα να λάβουν το ένα ή το άλλο χάρισμα από τη θεία Κοινωνία, στενοχωρούνται και ταράζονται, όταν η επιθυμία τους δεν εκπληρώνεται. Τότε κλονίζεται ακόμα και η πίστη τους στη δύναμη του Μυστηρίου.Η ατέλεια και η αδυναμία, ωστόσο, δεν βρίσκεται στο Μυστήριο, αλλά σ εμάς, τους ρηχούς και επιπόλαιους. Μην υπόσχεσαι τίποτα στον εαυτό σου. Άφησέ τα όλα στον Κύριο, ζητώντας Του μόνο τούτο: Να σε ενισχύει σε κάθε τι αγαθό, για να Του είσαι ευάρεστος/η.η Θεία Κοινωνία συνήθως χαρίζει μια γλυκιά ειρήνη στην καρδιά. Κάποτε φωτίζει το νου και εμπνέει στην ψυχή την αφιέρωση στον Κύριο. Άλλοτε, πάλι, δεν δίνει τίποτε το άμεσο και φανερό, αλλά δυναμώνει γενικά τον άνθρωπο στον πνευματικό του αγώνα. Πρέπει να σημειώσω, πάντως, ότι δεν βλέπουμε απτούς καρπούς από τη θεία Κοινωνία, επειδή σπάνια κοινωνάμε.αν προσέρχεσαι συχνά στα θεία Μυστήρια, θα δεις τους ανακαινιστικούς και παρακλητικούς καρπούς της.πάντοτε όμως να προσέρχεσαι στο Μυστήριο της Θείας Ευχαριστίας με την ευλογία του πνευματικού σου πατρός ο οποίος έχει και την ευθύνη για εσένα. Μην επαναπαύεσαι σε συμβουλές άλλων ανθρώπων. Να κάνεις υπακοή στον πνευματικό σου πατέρα ο οποίος γνωρίζει την πνευματική σου κατάσταση και θα καθορίσει τους όρους προσέλευσης αλλά και την συχνότητα της συμμετοχής σου στο Μυστήριο.

Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us. Verse: Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous. St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 5:8-19 Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light." Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart. The Gospel of Luke 13:10-17 At that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.

4 Saint Spyridon the Wonder-Working Bishop of Trimythous (12 December) The island of Cyprus was where this outstanding saint was born and also where he served the Church. He was born into a family of ordinary country folk and remained a simple and humble man throughout his life, until his demise. He was married at a young age and had children, but when his wife died he devoted himself entirely to the service of God. Thanks to the exceptional piety which distinguished him, he was elected bishop in the town of Trimythous. Even as bishop, however, he didn t alter his simple way of life. He continued to look after his animals himself and to cultivate the ground with his own hands. He kept very little of his produce for himself, preferring to share the greater part with the destitute. Through the power of God, he performed great miracles: he brought rain during a period of drought; stopped the flow of a river; raised people from the dead; cured the emperor, Constantine, of a serious illness; saw and heard angels of God; foretold the future; discerned the secrets of people s hearts; brought many people to the true faith; and much else besides. He took part in the 1st Ecumenical Synod in Nicaea (325), and brought many heretics back to the Orthodox faith, thanks to his clear and simple views on it and to his great miracles. Saint Spyridon was so ordinary in his appearance that when he once wanted to enter the royal court, at the invitation of the emperor, a soldier took him for a beggar and struck him on the face. Humble and guileless as he was, Saint Spyridon turned the other cheek! He glorified God with a host of miracles and benefited not only a large number of people, but the Church of God as a whole. He went to his rest in the Lord in the year 348. His wonderworking relics are preserved on Corfu and through them he continues to glorify God to this day with the miracles he performs. Nothing can benefit us if we aren t compassionate towards other people and if we don t forgive them their weaknesses. How can we hope to be forgiven by God, unless we first forgive others. On one occasion, Saint Spyridon sold a hundred goats to an animal trader at a price they had agreed on and the saint asked for his money. Knowing that Saint Spyridon never counted money, the trader gave him enough to cover the cost of ninety-nine goats and kept back the cost of the hundredth. The saint counted out a hundred goats and handed them over.but as the trader and his servants were leading the flock away, one of the animals started bleating and tried to return. He chased it but it wouldn t go back. No matter how many times he chased it, it kept leaving and didn t want to go with the other goats. Then the saint approached the trader and whispered in his ear: Look, son, it s no coincidence that the animal s behaving like that. Did you maybe hold back what was due for it?. The trader felt ashamed and confessed his sin. As soon as he d paid the sum he d held back for the goat, the animal left immediately and went to join the rest of the flock. On another occasion it happened that rustlers managed to get into Saint Spyridon s sheepfold. When they d seized as many animals as they could manage, they turned to make their escape, but an unseen force held them in the same place, so that they were unable to move. At dawn, when Saint Spyridon went out to see to his flock, he rebuked them mildly and urged them to live in future off their own efforts, rather than by resorting to stealing. Then he took a sheep and gave it to them, saying: This is for your trouble, so that your all-night vigil won t go unrewarded And then he sent them away in peace.
