Add a full day visiting the Crater and you have a great road safari that can be combined with any of our à la carte programmes. We have now expanded the options to include a variety of tastes and budgets. This adventure combines three of Tanzania's most popular parks with game viewing in Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks and Conservation Area. Departs daily Minimum 2 participants Itinerary Day 01 Arrive to Kilimanjaro International Airport. After clearing immigration and customs formalities, you are met by our representative and assisted to your transfer vehicle. Depart in the afternoon and drive to Tarangire National Park. The drive takes you across the Great Rift Valley and along the fringe of the Maasai Steppe. You will notice herds of cattle being attended by young lads and dotted huts with thatched roofs as you proceed. You arrive at your camp or lodge in the afternoon and have opportunity to soak in the surroundings and enjoy the facilities. Travellers on options C and D will have game viewing en route to the camp or lodge. Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge. An additional night in Arusha the day before the safari departs is recommended Day 02 You set out into Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing. Travellers on options C and D may choose to return to the camp or lodge for lunch (arranged the night before with the driver-guide). Travellers on other options should travel with a picnic lunch to ensure the best opportunities for game viewing. In the late afternoon, you return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight. Spanning a vast 45,000km, the Selous is larger than Switzerland and is home to just a handful of small safari camps, ensuring an exclusive safari experience. Game-viewing here is rewarding, with plentiful numbers of wild dog, lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and more than 400 species of bird. A real highlight of the Selous is the variety of safari activities available, making every day entirely different from the next. Choose from traditional game drives, boat safaris to get up close to the hippos, or walking safaris to take a slower approach to understanding the flora and fauna of the reserve. November brings the short rains and the humidity builds from then until the start of April which brings the long rains which run throughout April and May (when most camps and airstrips in the reserve are closed). Whilst November to March is hot and humid with intermittent rainfall, wildlife viewing is still highly rewarding as the game is still active and there are often less vehicles and boats in the reserve so you can enjoy the game-viewing to yourself even more.

Selous Serena Camp Selous Serena Camp is located in the Selous game reserve in southern Tanzania. The camp lies under shady forests on the banks of the Simbazi River in the north of the Selous Game Reserve. The camp comprising just 12 tents, a dining area, lounge, viewing deck and infinity pool overlooking a watering hole. This serene tented camp is the ultimate in luxury safari camping. This is a 45 minute flight from Dar Es Salaam or Zanzibar to the banks of the Simbazi River, followed by a 30 minute activity. Selous Serena Camp is owned and operated by Serena Hotels. The charming tents are positioned under individual thatch roofs with fabulously rustic, yet luxurious interiors that include wooden, colonial bathrooms, chandeliers, four poster beds and luxurious rugs. Remotely located to the west of the main areas, this camp has a dozen comfortable rooms set either side of public areas with a two-tier pool. The lavishly appointed camp consists of 12 tents positioned under individual grass-thatched shelters. Each is decorated with a mixture of luxury fittings and charming rustic features, four poster beds, armchairs, chandeliers and lovely local textiles. The rooms have stunning colonial bathrooms with claw-foot baths. Outside, a private deck overlooks the river channel. Each of the 10 tents blends in with the natural surroundings and is perfectly placed to make the most of the river views. Offering spacious and comfortable accommodation the tents are decorated in colourful African style. Make use of the pool between activities. For avid wildlife enthusiasts and keen photographers there is also a viewing deck overlooking the river. Dinner can be enjoyed in the dining area or alfresco under the stars. This friendly camp offers comfortable accommodation surrounded by untouched bush. Rufiji River Camp Rufiji River Camp is located on the banks of the Rufiji river, in a point where the ample and tranquil river is animated by many and different species of animals. The tented camp, situated in the heart of the reserve, is environmentally friendly and each tent is equipped with private bathroom and a veranda facing the river. There is a constant flow of animals coming down to drink at the river offering a permanent show to visitors of the camp. The water is usually full of hundreds of hippos as well as groups of crocodiles that laze in the sun on the sandbanks in the river. A structure in the central part of the camp hosts the restaurant, bar and library, all with a view of the river and the sunset. All of the camp structures, kitchen included, are constantly renovated, attaining the highest level of comfort without sacrificing the emotion of a total immersion in a completely natural environment. Electricity and hot water are powered by solar panels, while UHV-filtered drinking water is available throughout camp (including tents).
