At their entreaties, frustrate the plots of enemy nations, and strengthen our government, for You alone are good and love humanity. Apolytikion of St. Theodore the Commander in 2nd Tone When in God's army you had truly enlisted, O holy Theodore, the bearer of trophies, you were made a splendid general of the heavenly King; using as a weapon faith, you were ready for battle and utterly destroyed the ranks that were amassed by the demons, and as a victorious athlete you were seen, wherefore in true faith, we bless you and honor you. Apolytikion of the Annunciation in 4th Tone Today is the beginning of our salvation, The revelation of the eternal mystery! The Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin. As Gabriel announces the coming of Grace. Together with him let us cry to the Theotokos: Rejoice, O Full of Grace, The Lord is with You! Seasonal Kontakion Mode 4 You who were lifted. The Savior's most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. 3 The Epistle Reading St. Paul's First Letter to the Ephesians 2:14-22 Prokeimenon. Mode 4. Psalm ,1 The Lord will give strength to his people. Verse: Bring to the Lord, O sons of God, bring to the Lord honor and glory. BRETHREN, Christ is our peace, who has made us both one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby bringing the hostility to an end. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near; for through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. 4 The Gospel of Luke 10:25-37 At that time, a lawyer stood up to put Jesus to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?" And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live." But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." The report will be presented at the Spring General Assembly. To review the Audit Report or to obtain a copy, please visit or contact the Cathedral Office. For any questions regarding the report, please contact committee members John Georgiou or Kathy Milonas. Golden Years Tues., Nov. 17th. Lunch will be served. Bible Study Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 6:30pm in the meeting room. St. Maria of Paris Outreach Committee thanks community dinner team captain Jane Williams and her team for serving the November 5 dinner: Kakia Valianos, Elizabeth Woods, Chris Bachas, Frances Makris, Peristera, Antonios and Maria Leondaridis, John and Fotini Pugliese, Irene and Marianna Leontaki, Maroula Christie, Jim Milonas, Roman Blair, John Mangus, Alexia Williams, Joanna Remirez, Madison Doyle and Iris Pappas. Windows onto Heaven Father George will discuss the use of icons in the Orthodox faith on Wednesday, Nov. 18th at 1:00pm at the Chrysler Museum. Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) of ODU on Thursday, Nov., 19th from 6-8 pm will be hosting the icon exhibit entitled, Orthodox Icon: A Variety of Ways to Depict a Sacred Image at the Baron and Ellin Gorden Art Galleries. Fr. John Cox will be giving a short presentation on iconography. Admission free, refreshments provided. IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) Sunday is Sun., Nov., 22nd.

6 Hellenic Woman s Club Bake sale order forms are located on the information table by the bookstore. Frozen pasticho, spanakopita and tyropita are available for purchase (see enclosed flyer). Parish Council Elections Sunday, Dec. 6. Nomination forms are available at the church and on the information table by the bookstore. Cultural Committee Book Club will meet Tues., Nov.,17th at 11:00am in the Cathedral library. We will discuss The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Cultural Committee movie night on Sun., Nov., 22 at 6:00pm (see enclosed flyer). Kefalos Society on Sun., Nov., 22 will have lunch and a meeting following Liturgy in the Hellenic Center. AHEPA On Tues., Nov., 24 at 12:00pm, members of AHEPA will prepare their annual traditional Thanksgiving Luncheon for the Golden Years and all senior citizens of our Cathedral. The Thanksgiving feast will include turkey, mashed potatoes and all the fixings. The luncheon is free to all of our communities senior citizens. Please contact Evan Almyrantis for more information. ( ). AHEPA will hold its ANNUAL Christmas Party on Sat., Dec., 12 at 6:30 pm for AHEPANS and guests of our community. The dinner will include: Hors D oeuvres, Prime Rib, drinks and dessert. The cost is $35.00 per person and each attending family is asked to bring a new but unwrapped toy for donation to the Marine s Toys-for-Tots Program. This is a drop off event open to all children 3 and older who are potty trained and separate easily. The children will make Christmas crafts, play games, decorate cookies, sing and enjoy story time. The cost of this event is $5 per child and a canned item for the FoodBank. A pizza lunch will be provided. If your child has allergies please feel free to being a bagged lunch. We will also be making Salvation Army Stockings as our mission project for this season. Empty stocking can be picked up in the Social Hall and returned there as well by December 5th.

The documentary is in Greek with English subtitles. Please join us for this fascinating documentary!
