Resurrectional APOLYTIKION Mode 2 When the angelic powers appeared at Your grave, the soldiers guarding it feared and became as dead. And standing by the sepulcher was Mary who was seeking Your immaculate body. You devastated Hades, not afflicted by it. You went to meet the virgin, and granted eternal life. You resurrected from the dead. O Lord, glory to You. APOLYTIKION of St. Matthew the Evangelist O Holy Apostle and Evangelist Matthew, make intercession to our merciful God, that He grant our souls forgiveness of offenses. APOLYTIKION of the Annunciation Today is the beginning of our salvation, The revelation of the eternal mystery! The Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin. As Gabriel announces the coming of Grace. Together with him let us cry to the Theotokos: Rejoice, O Full of Grace, The Lord is with You! KONTAKION of the Entrance of the Theotokos to the Temple The Savior's most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. She is extolled by the Angels of God. A heavenly tabernacle is she.

3 EPISTLE READING St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 10:11-21; 11:1-2 Prokeimenon: O Lord, save Your people, and bless Your inheritance; and shepherd them, and raise them up forever. Mode 2 Psalm 27 (28) BRETHREN, the scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. For, "every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!" But they have not all obeyed the gospel; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ. But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have; for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world." Again I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says, "I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; with a foolish nation I will make you angry." Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, "I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me." But of Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people." I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew.

Οὐ γάρ ἐστιν διαστολὴ Ἰουδαίου τε καὶ Ἕλληνος ὁ γὰρ αὐτὸς κύριος πάντων, πλουτῶν εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἐπικαλουμένους αὐτόν. Πᾶς γὰρ ὃς ἂν ἐπικαλέσηται τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου σωθήσεται. Πῶς οὖν ἐπικαλέσονται εἰς ὃν οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν; Πῶς δὲ πιστεύσουσιν οὗ οὐκ ἤκουσαν; Πῶς δὲ ἀκούσουσιν χωρὶς κηρύσσοντος; Πῶς δὲ κηρύξουσιν ἐὰν μὴ ἀποσταλῶσιν; Καθὼς γέγραπται, Ὡς ὡραῖοι οἱ πόδες τῶν εὐαγγελιζομένων εἰρήνην, τῶν εὐαγγελιζομένων τὰ ἀγαθά. Ἀλλʼ οὐ πάντες ὑπήκουσαν τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ. Ἠσαΐας γὰρ λέγει, Κύριε, τίς ἐπίστευσεν τῇ ἀκοῇ ἡμῶν; Ἄρα ἡ πίστις ἐξ ἀκοῆς, ἡ δὲ ἀκοὴ διὰ ῥήματος θεοῦ. Ἀλλὰ λέγω, μὴ οὐκ ἤκουσαν; Μενοῦνγε Εἰς πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἐξῆλθεν ὁ φθόγγος αὐτῶν, καὶ εἰς τὰ πέρατα τῆς οἰκουμένης τὰ ῥήματα αὐτῶν. Ἀλλὰ λέγω, μὴ οὐκ ἔγνω Ἰσραήλ; Πρῶτος Μωϋσῆς λέγει, Ἐγὼ παραζηλώσω ὑμᾶς ἐπʼ οὐκ ἔθνει, ἐπὶ ἔθνει ἀσυνέτῳ παροργιῶ ὑμᾶς. Ἠσαΐας δὲ ἀποτολμᾷ καὶ λέγει, Εὑρέθην τοῖς ἐμὲ μὴ ζητοῦσιν, ἐμφανὴς ἐγενόμην τοῖς ἐμὲ μὴ ἐπερωτῶσιν. Πρὸς δὲ τὸν Ἰσραὴλ λέγει, Ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἐξεπέτασα τὰς χεῖράς μου πρὸς λαὸν ἀπειθοῦντα καὶ ἀντιλέγοντα. Λέγω οὖν, μὴ ἀπώσατο ὁ θεὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ; Μὴ γένοιτο. Καὶ γὰρ ἐγὼ Ἰσραηλίτης εἰμί, ἐκ σπέρματος Ἀβραάμ, φυλῆς Βενϊαμίν. Οὐκ ἀπώσατο ὁ θεὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ὃν προέγνω.

5 THE GOSPEL READING Gospel of Matthew 9:9-13 At that time, as Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he rose and followed him. And as he sat at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" But when he heard it, he said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." GOLDEN YEARS: Tuesday, November 18 at 10:30 am in the Social Hall. BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP: Join us every Tuesday night at 6:30 pm. Bring your Bible and a friend and let us study together the Epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians. 7 The St. Maria of Paris Outreach Committee thanks last weeks Community Dinner team captain Heather Karangelen and her team: Antonios Leondaridis, Mike Douklias, Vassilios Karangelen, Patty Leondaridis, Nikki Webb, Kathy Stephanitsis, Phil Roussis, Stefanie Karangelen, Helen Pratsi, Sotiria Bessinas, Lona Liosatos and Betty Kambitsis. Roxie Skenderis' team will be hosting the November 20th dinner. CULTURAL COMMITTEE BOOK CLUB: will meet Tuesday November 18 at 11:00 am. in the Cathedral library. We will discuss the book " The House Girl" by Tara Conklin. An unforgettable story of love, history and search for justice. Please join us the book club is open to all that like to read. NEW YEAR S EVE DANCE: Join our cathedral family to celebrate the beginning of the New Year on Wednesday, December 31st from 9pm to 1am. Advance Tickets are $40 per adult; $25 per student. Please call JoAnn Pantas if you are interest participating AHEPA: AHEPA will offer its yearly Thanksgiving Senior Luncheon on Tuesday November 25 th at 12:00pm. The luncheon is free to all of our communities senior citizens. Non-senior citizens are welcomed to join us, although there is a nominal charge to partially cover our costs. AHEPA will hold its Annual Christmas Party on Saturday December 13, at 6:30pm. Steve Webb and his team will prepare a prime rib dinner for AHEPAns and guests. Cost is $35 per person and each attending family is expected to bring a new but unwrapped toy for donation to Toys for Tots. Please bring the gift with you and members of the US Marines will be there to pick-up and hand deliver the gifts. The dinner price includes dinner, drinks, and DJ music. 8 Weekly Paraklesis Service to the Most Holy Lady Theotokos Annunciation Cathedral Norfolk Thursday s at 6:30 PM December 11th. St. Nicholas Church Virginia Beach Thursday s at 6 PM November 27th, December 4th, December 18th. The most powerful tool we have to aid ourselves and one another at all times is prayer. The act of praying is a gift from God so that we can praise Him and encounter Him with our needs and concerns. Through prayer we encounter God and we come together as a people. We have, as it were, a kind of to work "spiritual muscle" at the center of our souls, and this muscle requires frequent and fervent exercise. Hence, with the cooperation of our sister parish, St. Nicholas in Virginia Beach, we will be offering weekly intercessory Prayer Services. These services are known as the "Paraklesis to the Holy Theotokos," where we invoke the involvement of the Mother of God in our many cares. The service is about an hour long and is very melodic in its musical presentation. Thankfully, both the English and Greek languages render our petitions with equal grace, thus allowing all members to participate in the chanting of this service. Glory to God, we are pleased together as sister parish, as one Church, united in providing prayer and good works for the Lord. Surely this is what the Lord would want. Come let us worship together and offer prayers for spiritual well being, good health and salvation in Christ. 10 STEWARDSHIP REPORT November 16, Stewardship Update: We will be giving you weekly updates on the stewardship collections as we approach the end of the year. Last Sunday, November 9, we collected $6,946 in stewardship and received $2,770 of stewardship through the mail during the week of November 10. This brings our stewardship total for the 2014 year to $319, We have set $400,000 as an inspirational goal; our Cathedral has never approached $400,000. And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, "Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had." Luke 21:1-4 May we also hear our Lord say that we have consecrated our lives and our livings to God. Wishing you and your family a blessed Nativity Fast (Nov. 15 -Dec. 24).
