This season is one of festivities, the beginning of winter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. During this period our Church also commemorates many famous Saints. News Philoptochos News Voice of St. George Submission Dates Our Holy Church commemorates the saints daily and promotes their lives so that we strengthen our faith in God and our personal relationship with Him. As we remember the saints, we have the opportunity to study their lives and to learn about their courage and determination, as well as their faith, their work, their worries, and their hardship to sustain their faith and their great works. When a Christian prays unceasingly and tries to live according to Christ s teachings, then his /her prayers are heard and God intervenes into their lives and solves all of the difficulties that they face in life. (Rom 8:28; Philip. 4:12-13) In the Gospels, we have many miracles which are examples that the faith saves. (John 5: 24-25, Math. 15:28). We should not forget that God has immense love for us, and that He expects us to love Him with all our heart, with all our strength, with all our soul, with our entire mind (Luke 10:27); this kind of love God expects from us. God sacrificed His only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to save us. (John 3:16; 1 John 4:9). To support that kind of love, we have to read the New Testament from where we can draw strength and find the Will of God. In the Gospel of Saint John, Jesus tells us you study the scriptures because you think in them you will find eternal life (John 5:39). On the 1st of November, our Church commemorates Saints Cosma and Damian, the unmercenery doctors from Arabia. They were healing both poor and rich people for free, and preached about Christ in all of the towns they visited. They were martyred in Lycia- Akka. They went through many kinds of torture because they did not deny Christ. They survived the tortures unharmed because they were protected by an Angel of the Lord. Finally, they were crucified and beheaded at the end of the 4th century. On November 8th our Holy Church celebrates the Synaxis, the gathering of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel and all of the heavenly, bodiless powers. This feast comes to us from the Old Testament, and our Lord Jesus Christ also mentions it in the New Testament. The leader of the Angels, called Belzeboul, wanted to become like God. He revolted against God and fell from His Grace; other angels also followed him in this fall. With this event, the angelic powers split into two - the angels of evil and the angels of God, who followed the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. The Prophet Isaiah describes this event in the Old Testament, (Isaiah 14:14) and it is also mentioned in the New Testament by Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Luke I saw the Satan following like lightning from heaven. (Luke 10:18)

4 November/December 2010 Page 4 This theme of angels is a great subject in the Schools of Theology. This subject is also mentioned in the book of Revelation as the war between good and evil angels. (Revelation 12:7-9) The Archangels of good, Saints Michael and Gabriel, are celebrated with the nine classes of Angels: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Lords, Strengths, Powers, Dominions, Angels and Archangels. On November 9 th we commemorate St. Nectarios, the Saint of the 20 th century Metropolitan of Pentapolis. His miracles continue into the present and influence the lives of those who seek His benediction. His life was full of temptations, slanders and trials from mean and jealous human beings. Because of his faith and his pure heart, and despite the great temptations and slanders, God made him a Saint and wonderworker. In recent years the Patriarch of Alexandria and His entourage went to his grave to ask forgiveness for the slanders created by his predecessors while the Saint was a bishop in Alexandria s Patriarchate. St. Nectarios was born in Syliveria, Thrace in October 1846 and passed away in Athens. He intercedes for all of us and protects us from every evil. On November 13 th the church celebrates another Great Father of the church, St. John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople. Every Sunday we celebrate the Divine Liturgy that he composed, except for the Sundays of Holy Lent. As a great theologian, gifted preacher, and righteous man, the church bestowed on him the title of Golden Mouth. He was born in Antioch in 354, was ordained deacon in 378, and a priest in 383. He performed many miracles for people who were sick. He saw and communicated with Angels, who gave him commands. Upon the request of the Emperor he was brought to Constantinople and became Archbishop of Constantinople on December 15, 398. On the day of his enthronement upon the petition of the Emperor he healed a demoniac. Wherever he celebrated the Liturgy the churches overflowed with the faithful who came to listen to his preaching. He opposed Queen Eudoxia who had tried to have the Holy Synod defrock him. She tried many times and in the end succeeded, despite the opposition of the entire city. Chrysostom was sent into exile to Conclusion, Armenia. This saint was deprived of many things and lived in hardship. Despite this, he continued to perform miracles and many pagans became Christian. When Queen Eudoxia heard this, she sent him into further exile, to Aravisson (today s Garbuz), and then to Pitounda in the Caucuses. En route, her servants beat and tortured him. Before arriving to Pitounda, Pontos, he died on September 14, 407, in the town of Comana. Today 1,447 of his sermons have survived along with 249 of his letters. His Holy relics are treasured at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George in Constantinople. On November 21 st we celebrate the Feast of the Entrance to the Temple of Virgin Mary. This Feast Day comes to us from the Apocrypha Gospels and is dedicated to the dedication to God. On November 25 th we celebrate the Great Martyr St. Katherine of Mount Sinai, where her miraculous relics are kept. November 30 th is the Feast Day of St. Andrew, the first called. He preached the Gospel in Asia Minor, in Pontos, the Black Sea and the Caucuses. He brought Christianity to Constantinople and all of Byzantium. This day is also the Feast Day of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Andrew died as a martyr in Patra, Greece, where he was crucified on an X shaped cross. Today in the great cathedral in Patra his skull and relics are treasured. In the month of December we celebrate many feasts. On December 4 th, is the feast of St. Barbara; December 5 th, St. Savva; December 6 th, St. Nicholas; December 9 th, St. Anna; December 12 h, St. Spyridon; December 15 th ; St. Eleftherios, on the 25 th the Nativity of our Lord; and the proto-martyr (the first martyr) St. Stephen on December 27 th. Everyday our Holy Orthodox Church celebrates and remembers the Saints whose teachings we have inherited and whose faith we try to imitate, in our weaknesses, with our repentance. By preparing ourselves in this world through our actions and our way of life, we will also see the Kingdom of God. May all of these Saints intercede to God for our personal life and success. 5 The Voice of St. George Page 5 Μήνυμα του Ιερατικώς Προϊσταμένου Αγαπητοί μου ενορίτες Με την ευλογία του Θεού, ήρθαμε εις τους μήνες Νοέμβριο και Δεκέμβριο. Μήνες όπου αρχίζει ο χειμώνας, και μήνες που εορτάζονται πολλοί Άγιοι. Η Αγία μας Εκκλησία προωθεί την εορτή των Αγίων για να ενισχύσει την πίστη μας εις τον Θεόν, την προσωπική μας σχέση με τον Θεόν. Με την μνήμη των Αγίων, μας δίνεται η ευκαιρία να διαβάσουμε και να μελετήσουμε τους αγώνες και τις αγωνίες κάθε Αγίου για να μιμηθούμε την υπομονή και την επιμονή τους και τα μεγάλα τα της πίστεως έργα τους. Όταν ο χριστιανός αδιαλείπτως προσεύχεται και προσπαθεί να ζει κατά Χριστόν, τότε εισακούονται οι προσευχές του και ο Θεός τον ενισχύει σε κάθε δυσκολία που αντιμετωπίζει στην ζωή. Επεμβαίνουν Άγγελοι, Άγιοι και αλλάζουν την ζωήν μας. Εξαφανίζουν κάθε δυσκολία. Εις το Ιερόν Ευαγγέλιον έχουμε πολλά παραδείγματα που η πίστη των ανθρώπων τους σώζει, όπως Ιωαν. 5:24-25, Ματθ. 15:28 κ.ο.κ. Μην ξεχάσουμε ότι ο Θεός μας αγαπάει πάρα πολύ και αναμένει κι εμείς να τον αγαπούμε με όλη την καρδιά μας, με όλη την ψυχή μας και με όλη την δύναμή μας. Αυτήν την αγάπη αναμένει ο Θεός από εμάς που θυσίασε τον μονογενή του Υιόν, τον Κύριον Ημών Ιησούν Χριστόν για να μας σώσει. Για να ενισχύσουμε αυτήν την αγάπη, πρέπει να διαβάζουμε την Καινή Διαθήκη. Από εκεί θα αναζητήσουμε δύναμη, από εκεί θα μάθουμε το θέλημα του Θεού. Μας το λέει ο Χριστός στο Ευαγγέλιο του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Ευαγγελιστή «Ερευνάτε τας Γραφάς ότι υμείς δοκείτε εν αυταίς ζωήν αιώνιον έχει» (Ιωάν. 5:39). Αρχίζει ο μήνας Νοέμβριος με την εορτή των Αγίων Αναργύρων Ιεραρχών Κοσμά και Δαμιανού, που θεράπευαν τους πτωχούς χωρίς να τους παίρνουν λεφτά(αργύρια), εις το όνομα Ιησού Χριστού, γι αυτό και ονομάστηκαν Άγιοι Ανάργυροι αλλά μαρτύρησαν για τον Χριστόν. Ζούσαν εις την Αραβίαν και θεράπευαν και κήρυτταν Χριστόν σε όλα τα χωριά που επισκεπτόταν. Διότι πίστεψαν και κήρυξαν Χριστόν, τους απέλασαν στην Λυκία-Αεζα λεγομένη. Εκεί βασανίστηκαν ποικιλοτρόπως, αλλά από όλα τα βασανιστήρια, βγήκαν αβλαβείς, διότι Άγγελος Κυρίου τους προστάτευε. Στο τέλος τους σταύρωσαν και τους αποκεφάλισαν. Στις 8 Νοεμβρίου εορτάζει η Αγία μας Εκκλησία την Σύναξη των Αρχιστρατήγων Μιχαήλ και Γαβριήλ και των λοιπών Ασωμάτων και Ουρανίων Ταγμάτων, εορτή που έρχεται σε μας από την Παλαιά Διαθήκη, που αναφέρει και ο ίδιος ο Κύριος Ημών Ιησούς Χριστός, ότι ο διάβολος ήθελε να γίνει Θεός και επαναστάτησε εναντίον Του. Έτσι έπεσε από την Χάριν του Θεού και χωρίστηκαν οι Άγγελοι σε δύο, τα του Σατανά και τα του Θεού, όπως μας πληροφορεί ο Προφήτης Ησαΐας στην Παλαιάν Διαθήκην 14:14. Και εις το Ευαγγέλιον ο Κύριος λέει: «εθεώρουν τον Σατανάν ως αστραπή εκ του ουρανού πεσόντα» (Λουκά 10:18) Το θέμα αυτό είναι μεγάλη μελέτη στις θεολογικές σπουδές ως Αγγελολογία. Αναφέρεται γι αυτόν τον πόλεμον των καλών και κακών αγγέλων και στην Αποκάλυψη (12: 7-9). Ετσι ως Αρχηγοί των καλών «τα των Αγγέλων», εορτάζονται οι Άγγελοι Μιχαήλ και Γαβριήλ και όλες οι τάξεις των επουρανίων Ταγμάτων όπως: Σεραφείμ, Χερουβείμ, Θρόνων, Κυριοτήτων, Δυνάμεων, Εξουσιών, Αρχών, Αγγέλων και Αρχαγγέλων που είναι τα εννέα Αγγελικά Τάγματα. Στις 9 Νοεμβρίου, εορτάζεται ο πολύφημος και αγαπητός Άγιος του 20 ου αιώνα, ο Άγιος Νεκτάριος Πενταπόλεως που τα θαύματά του συνεχίζουν να επηρεάζουν τις ζωές όλων των ανθρώπων που ζητούν την χάρη του. Η ζωή του ήταν γεμάτη συκοφαντίες, πειρασμούς και δοκιμασίες από την κακία και ζήλια των ανθρώπων. Η πίστη του και η καθαρή καρδιά του έμειναν ακλόνητες, παρά τους μεγάλους άδικους πολέμους και ο Θεός τον κατέστησε Άγιον και θαυματουργό Του.

6 November/December 2010 Page 6 Μετά τον θάνατό του, ο Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας με την συνοδεία του, πήγαν στον τάφο του για να ζητήσουν την συγχώρησή του για τις συκοφαντίες και ταλαιπωρίες που του δημιούργησαν οι προκάτοχοι του πατριαρχικού θρόνου Αλεξανδρείας όταν υπηρετούσε. Γεννήθηκε ο Άγιος στην Δηλύβρια της Θράκης, τον Οκτώβριο του 1846 και εκοιμήθη στην Αθήνα στις 9 Νοεμβρίου Τα εγγεγραμένα θαύματά του είναι πάνω από εκατομμύρια. Είθε να πρεσβεύει για όλους εμάς ο Άγιος Νεκτάριος και να μας προστατεύει από κάθε κακό. Στις 13 Νοεμβρίου, εορτάζει ένας άλλος μεγάλος Πατέρας της Εκκλησίας, ο Άγιος Ιωάννης Χρυσόστομος. Κάθε Κυριακή τελούμε την Θεία Λειτουργία, που έχει γράψει αυτός, εκτός από τις Κυριακές του Τριωδίου. Μεγάλος θεολόγος, ρήτορας και δίκαιος, γι αυτό και η Εκκλησία του έδωσε τον τίτλο Χρυσόστομος. Γεννήθηκε στην Αντιοχεία το 354, χειροτονήθηκε διάκος το 378 και ιερέας το 383 στην Αντιοχεία. Έκανε πολλά θαύματα σε ανθρώπους και τους θεράπευσε. Είχε οπτασία Αγγέλων. Στις 15 Δεκεμβρίου 398, έγινε Πατριάρχης Κωνσταντινουπόλεως και την ημέρα της χειροτονίας του κατόπιν αιτήσεως του αυτοκράτορα θεράπευσε δαιμονιζόμενο. Όπου λειτουργούσε, γέμιζαν οι ναοί από τους πιστούς για να ακούσουν τον Λόγον του. Ήρθε εις σύγκρουση με την Αυτοκράτειρα Ευδοξία, η οποία σύναξε σύνοδον και με ψευτοκατηγορίες προσπάθησε να στείλει σε εξορία. Χωρίς απολογία, έστειλαν τον Άγιο κρυφά από τον κόσμο σε εξορία στο Κουκούσιον της Αρμενίας, όπου με πολλές στερήσεις, συνέχισε να κάνει θαύματα. Η βασίλισσα, τον έστειλε στην Αράβισσον (Garbuz) και μετά στην Πιτούντα, στην κωμόπολη Κόμονα στον Πόντο όπου εκοιμήθη στις 14 Νοεμβρίου το 407. Έχει γράψει 1447 Λόγους που σώζονται και 249 εποστολές. Τα Ιερά Λείψανά του βρίσκονται στον Πατριαρχικόν Καθεδρικόν Ναόν του Αγίου Γεωργίου, στην Κωνσταντινούπολη. Στις 21 Νοεμβρίου, είναι η θεομητορική εορτή των εισοδίων της Θεοτόκου που μας πληροφορούν τα Απόκρυφα Ευαγγέλια. Στις 25 Νοεμβρίου, εορτάζομε την Αγία Πάνσοφο Αικατερίνη, πολυούχο Μονής Σινά, όπου θησαυρίζεται το Άγιον και θαυματουργόν σκήνωμά της. Στις 30 Νοεμβρίου, είναι η εορτή του Αγίου Ανδρέα, πρωτοκλίτου, που κήρυξε το ευαγγέλιο, στην Μικρά Ασία, στον Πόντο, στις περιοχές της Μαύρης Θάλασσας και έφερε τον χριστιανισμό στο Βυζάντιο-Κωνσταντινούπολη. Είναι η θρονική εορτή του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου, διότι είναι ο ιδρυτής του. Μαρτύρησε στην Πάτρα, όπου τον σταύρωσαν σε σταυρό με σχήμα Χ(χι). Είναι ο πολυούχος της Πάτρας και στον περικαλή μεγάλο ναό, θησαυρίζεται η τιμία κάρα του και μέρος των λειψάνων του. Τον Δεκέμβριο εορτάζονται: η Αγία Βαρβάρα στις 4, ο Άγιος Σάββας στις 5, ο Άγιος Νικόλαος στις 6, η Αγία Άννα στις 9, ο Άγιος Σπυρίδωνας στις 12, ο Άγιος Ελευθέριος στις 15 και ο Άγιος Στέφανος στις 27. Στις 25 Δεκεμβρίου εορτάζουμε την Γέννηση του Κυρίου μας Ιησού Χριστού. Έτσι η Αγία μας Εκκλησία κάθε μέρα εορτάζει και θυμάται τους Αγίους για να μιμηθούμε την πίστη τους και την ζωήν τους για να κληρονομήσουμε κι εμείς με τις αδυναμίες μας, με την μετάνοιά μας την ουράνια βασιλεία, ετοιμαζόμενοι σ αυτή την ζωή με τις πράξεις και τον τρόπο της ζωής μας. 7 The Voice of St. George Page 7 President s Message Dear Parishioners, This is the last message in the Voice of St. George that you will be receiving from me as the President of the great historic community of St. George. December marks the end of an important era of my life that began a half-century ago when I first served as a member of the Board of Trustees. These past two years that I have served as President have been both very rewarding and, yet, very frustrating for me. The satisfaction of having accomplished projects that will stand for generations to come has been most gratifying. However, I have chosen not to seek re-election because of the frustrations and disappointments that I have encountered in the undertaking of numerous projects, and of running the community. Rather than enumerate all of the projects that the Board has accomplished this past year, I will only list four of the most significant undertakings: Repaving of the parking lots at the church and the three homes that we own on Riverview Avenue; Installation of all new windows in the school building; Installation of a new faux terra cotta roof which complements the gold-leafing on the dome of the bell tower of the church; The complete renovation of the home that we purchased at 7 Kroeger Lane. All of the above accomplishments took a very significant amount of time, especially the renovation of 7 Kroeger Lane. When the property was purchased, the home was barely visible from the street due to the dense vegetation, trees and bamboo, and completely hidden from view when looking at it from the church parking lot. The first thing we did was to have all of the undesirable vegetation removed. We next had a new blacktop driveway installed. The home was completely repainted, inside and out, by Demetri Karayiannidis. New kitchen cabinets and appliances were installed by George Zalocostas and the oak flooring was sanded and refinished. The entire property was re-graded and a new lawn was planted, compliments of an anonymous parishioner who only wants to be referred to as a pilgrim offering something to his church. Landscaping was provided by another pilgrim, Tim Kehayas. Now that the job has been completed, I am proud to say that 7 Kroeger Lane is one of the premier properties on the block. I am very happy to report that we have rented the home for $2,200 per month. Now to address the primary reason why I have chosen not to seek re-election: When we embarked on the re-roofing of the church, a decision had to be made whether to go with conventional asphalt shingles or whether to spend twice the money and go with a faux terra cotta roof, which is expected to last for seventy-five years and will prove to be less expensive in the long run. This question was brought before the General Assembly and the unanimous opinion was to go with the terra cotta. Could we pay for it? Yes, but if we did, we could possibly run short of money for some of the other projects that had to done, so I asked each parishioner, each member of the St. George family, to make a donation of $125 to pay for the roof. To impose a levy on individual members for capital improvements is a common practice in other religions, but not in ours. What a shock I was in for! Despite repeated personal pleas, only one family in three donated to a project that will stand as a monument for generations to come. This apathy by two-thirds of our membership wounded me mortally; I failed to convince the majority of our membership, including past presidents and Board members, to cough up a meager $2.40 per week for their church. I could not overcome the primitive mentality of people who pay the mandated minimum stewardship and nothing else, regardless of the needs of the Church to which they turn to for spiritual solace and communal sharing. On any Sunday; most people come to church, drop one dollar in the basket for their candle and then drop one dollar in each of the collection trays that are passed. They have been contributing that same one dollar bill for years, knowing full well that the dollar that they contributed ten years ago does not have the same buying power as the dollar of today. Meanwhile, our expenses continue to rise. As reported in one of my previous messages, it costs $856 per member just to keep the doors of St. George open, yet the average contribution per member is less than half that amount. Do you think that we can re-roof the church, put marble on the floors, and remodel the kitchen with this type of financial support? Wake up, people! This is OUR church, both yours and mine, and if WE don t support it there will be nothing but a dilapidated structure to hand down to our children. I am also very disappointed in the unwillingness of the young people in our community to come forth to serve their church. Running this community is a big operation that requires the work of many people, not only the members of the Board of Trustees. There is no question that operating the Church and managing its properties require the services of a full time administrator. Yet, the proposal to hire an administrator was rejected by the General Assembly a couple of years ago.

8 November/December 2010 Page 8 A group of part-time volunteers cannot manage it all. In the absence of a permanent administrator it is almost impossible to provide the continuity that is required from one Board to the next. Let me share what the toll has been on my personal life. St. George now owns six houses. A pipe breaks in the middle of the night, they call the President. An intruder breaks into the church, they call the President. The President is expected to be on call 24/7 without regard to the unreasonable personal sacrifice that must be made so that issues are addressed promptly and as efficiently as possible. I have not been able to take a vacation in two years. I can deal with it, but I can t subject my wife to another year of this. When I committed myself to become President two years ago, I did so completely, wholeheartedly and with the goal of doing all within my power for the improvement of OUR Church. It is now time for others, members of the younger generation, to step up to the plate and take over. The Church is a part of everyone s family, and everyone has an obligation to work for the Church in the same way that our forefathers did. It is, after all, the Christian way. In closing, I would like to thank those members of the Board that I had the pleasure of serving with for the past two years. I would like to thank the countless number of people who have come forth to serve OUR Church, gratis, from the chanters to the Sunday school teachers, the choir, our legal advisor, and all of the advisors to the dedicated parishioners who make up our Church organizations. Kudos go out to all of the Greek school teachers for all of the hard work that they do to perpetuate our mother tongue, to the people who toil for countless number of hours for our festival, and to the young men who park cars for the Rutgers football games. Special thanks to all of those pilgrims who come forth and work for OUR church and for the glory of God. I hope that I have fulfilled the trust that you placed in me when you voted for me to lead this United We Stand community for 2010; I tried to serve you to the best of my ability. I ask for the forgiveness of Αγαπήσωμεν Αλλήλους anyone who I may have offended in accomplishing my mission. Remember, stay united, and love one another. Do not allow any outside influence to divide us. We come to church to pray to save our souls, and nothing else. One more thing: Please put your candles in straight lines in the sand box. 9 The September Voice of 2008 St. George Page 9 Μήνυμα του Προέδρου Αγαπητοί ενορίτες, Αυτό είναι το τελευταίο μήνυμα στη Φωνή του Αγίου Γεωργίου, που θα λάβετε από μένα, σαν Πρόεδρος της μεγάλης ιστορικής κοινότητας του Αγίου Γεωργίου. Ο Δεκέμβρης σηματοδοτεί το τέλος μιας σημαντικής εποχής της ζωής μου που ξεκίνησε πριν από μισό αιώνα, όταν για πρώτη φορά υπηρέτησα ως μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου. Τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια που έχω διατελέσει Πρόεδρος ήταν για μένα και πολύ ικανοποιητικά, όπως και πολύ απογοητευτικά. Η ικανοποίηση της ολοκλήρωσης των έργων που θα βρίσκονται για τις επόμενες γενιές είναι το πιο ευχάριστο. Ωστόσο, έχω επιλέξει να μην επιδιώξω επανεκλογή, λόγω της διάψευσης των ελπίδων μου και τις απογοητεύσεις που έχω αντιμετωπίσει όταν ανέλαβα την ευθύνη των πολυαρίθμων έργων και την διακυβέρνηση της κοινότητας. Αντί να απαριθμήσω όλα τα έργα που το Συμβούλιο ολοκλήρωσε τον τελευταίο χρόνο, θα επιθυμούσα να αναφέρω μόνο τέσσερα από τα πιο σημαντικά: Νέα ασφαλτόστρωση των χώρων στάθμευσης στην εκκλησία και τα τρία σπίτια που έχουμε στη Riverview Avenue Εγκατάσταση όλων των νέων παραθύρων στο σχολικό κτήριο Εγκατάσταση νέας στέγης στην εκκλησία από faux κεραμίδια που ολοκληρώθηκε με φύλλα χρυσό στο τρούλο του καμπαναριού Πλήρης ανακαίνιση του σπιτιού που αγοράσαμε στην 7 Kroeger Lane. Όλα τα παραπάνω επιτεύγματα πήραν πάρα πολύ σημαντικό χρόνο, ιδίως η ανακαίνιση της 7 Kroeger Lane. Όταν η ιδιοκτησία αγοράστηκε, το σπίτι ήταν ελάχιστα ορατό από το δρόμο, λόγω της πυκνής βλάστησης, δέντρων και μπαμπού, και ήταν εντελώς κρυμμένη από την άποψη όπως την βλέπουμε από το χώρο στάθμευσης της εκκλησίας. Το πρώτο πράγμα που κάναμε ήταν να αφαιρεθεί όλη αυτή ανεπιθύμητη βλάστηση. Έπειτα ασφαλτοστρώσαμε τον ιδιωτικό δρόμο του σπιτιού. Το σπίτι ξαναβάφτηκε εντελώς, μέσα και έξω, από τον Δημήτρη Καραγιαννίδη. Νέες συσκευές και ντουλάπια κουζίνας εγκαταστάθηκαν από τον Γιώργο Ζαλοκώστα και το ξύλινο δάπεδο καθαρίστηκε και γυαλίστηκε. Ολόκληρη η ιδιοκτησία αναβαθμίστηκε και φυτεύτηκε νέο γκαζόν, συγχαρητήρια στον ανώνυμο ενορίτη που μόνο θέλει να αναφέρεται ως προσκυνητής, που πρόσφερε κάτι στην εκκλησία του. Η διαμόρφωση του εξωτερικού χώρου χορηγήθηκε από άλλο "προσκυνητή", τον Θεμιστοκλή Κεχαγιά. Τώρα που ολοκληρώθηκε αυτή η εργασία, είμαι υπερήφανος να πω ότι στη πάροδο η 7 Kroeger Lane είναι μια από τις επιφανέστερες ιδιοκτησίες. Είμαι πολύ ευτυχής να αναφέρω ότι το σπίτι το έχουμε νοικιάσει για δολάρια το μήνα. Τώρα για να εξετάσουμε τον κύριο λόγο για τον οποίο επέλεξα να μην επιδιώξω την επανεκλογή μου: Όταν ξεκινήσαμε την επισκευή της σκεπής της εκκλησίας, έπρεπε να πάρουμε μία απόφαση αν θέλουμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε κοινές πλάκες ασφάλτου ή να ξοδέψουμε δύο φορές παραπάνω χρήματα και να κάνουμε μια στέγη από κεραμίδια τερακότα, η οποία αναμένεται ότι θα διαρκέσει για εβδομήντα πέντε χρόνια και μακροπρόθεσμα θα αποδειχθεί λιγότερο ακριβή. Αυτή η ερώτηση τέθηκε ενώπιον της Γενικής Συνέλευσης και η ομόφωνη άποψη ήταν να γίνει με τερακότα. Θα μπορούσαμε να καλύψουμε αυτό το έξοδο; Ναι, αλλά αν γινόταν, θα μπορούσαμε να έχουμε έλλειψη χρημάτων για ορισμένα από τα άλλα έργα που έπρεπε να γίνουν, γι 'αυτό ζήτησα από κάθε ενορίτη, κάθε μέλος της οικογένειας του Αγίου Γεωργίου, να κάνει μια δωρεά των $125 για να πληρωθεί η στέγη. Απέτυχα να πείσω την πλειοψηφία των μελών μας, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των πρώην Προέδρων και μέλη του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου, να πληρώσουν το πενιχρό 2,40 δολάρια την εβδομάδα για την εκκλησία τους. Δεν θα μπορούσα να ξεπεράσω την πρωτόγονη νοοτροπία των ανθρώπων που πληρώνουν τις υποχρεωτικές ελάχιστες

10 November/December 2010 Page 10 εισφορές και τίποτε άλλο, ανεξάρτητα από τις ανάγκες της Εκκλησίας στην οποία γυρίζουν για την πνευματική παρηγοριά και κοινοτική συναναστροφή. Την κάθε Κυριακή, οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι έρχονται στην εκκλησία, ρίχνουν ένα δολάριο στο καλάθι για το κερί τους και έπειτα ρίχνουν ένα δολάριο στο κάθε ένα από τους δίσκους που περνούν. Έχουν συμβάλει για πολλά χρόνια το ίδιο ένα δολάριο, ξέροντας πολύ καλά ότι το δολάριο που συνέβαλαν πριν από δέκα χρόνια δεν έχει την ίδια αγοραστική δύναμη, με το δολάριο σήμερα. Εν τω μεταξύ, τα έξοδά μας συνεχίζουν να αυξάνονται. Όπως αναφέρεται σε ένα από τα προηγούμενα μηνύματα μου, κοστίζει 856 δολάρια ανά μέλος μόνο για να κρατήσουμε τις πόρτες του Αγίου Γεωργίου ανοιχτές, όμως η μέση συνεισφορά ανά μέλος είναι λιγότερο από το μισό αυτού του ποσού. Πιστεύετε ότι μπορούμε να κάνουμε εκ νέου τη στέγη της εκκλησίας, να βάλουμε μαρμάρινα πατώματα και να αναδιαμορφώσουμε την κουζίνα με αυτό το είδος της οικονομικής ενίσχυσης; Ξυπνήστε, άνθρωποι! Αυτή είναι η Εκκλησία μας, τόσο η δική ΣΑΣ και δική μου και αν δεν την υποστηρίζουμε δεν θα υπάρξει παρά μία ερειπωμένη δομή να παραδώσετε στα παιδιά σας. Είμαι επίσης πολύ απογοητευμένος από την απροθυμία των νέων στην κοινότητά μας για να έρθουν εμπρός για να εξυπηρετήσουν την εκκλησία τους. Η διαχείριση αυτής της κοινότητας είναι μια μεγάλη επιχείρηση που απαιτεί την εργασία πολλών ανθρώπων, όχι μόνο τα μέλη του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου. Δεν υπάρχει αμφιβολία ότι η λειτουργία της Εκκλησίας και η διαχείριση στις ιδιοκτησίες απαιτεί τις υπηρεσίες ενός πλήρους απασχόλησης διαχειριστή. Ωστόσο, η πρόταση να μισθωθεί ένας διαχειριστής απορρίφθηκε από τη Γενική Συνέλευση πριν μερικά χρόνια. Μια ομάδα εθελοντών με μερική απασχόληση δεν μπορούν να τα διαχειριστούν όλα. Λόγω της έλλειψης ενός μόνιμου διαχειριστή είναι σχεδόν αδύνατο να προβλεφθεί η συνέχεια που απαιτείται από το ένα Συμβούλιο στο άλλο. Επιτρέψτε μου να μοιραστώ αυτό που στοίχισε στην προσωπική μου ζωή. Είμαστε κύριοι τώρα έξι σπιτιών. Μία σωλήνα σπάζει στη μέση της νύχτας και καλούν τον πρόεδρο. Ένας παράνομος σπάζει στην εκκλησία, και καλούν τον πρόεδρο. Ο Πρόεδρος αναμένεται να είναι "στην κλήση" 24/7 αδιαφορώντας για την αδικαιολόγητη προσωπική θυσία που πρέπει να γίνει έτσι ώστε τα ζητήματα να αντιμετωπίζονται αμέσως και όσο το δυνατόν αποτελεσματικότερα. Δεν ήμουν σε θέση να πάρω διακοπές για δύο χρόνια. Εγώ μπορώ να ασχοληθώ, αλλά δεν μπορώ να υποβάλω στην σύζυγό μου άλλο ένα έτος σαν αυτό. Όταν εγώ ο ίδιος δεσμεύτηκα πριν από δύο χρόνια να γίνω Πρόεδρος, το έκανα εντελώς, ολόψυχα και με όλη την δύναμη μου με στόχο τη βελτίωση της Εκκλησίας ΜΑΣ. Είναι πλέον ώρα για άλλους, μέλη της νεότερης γενιάς να πάρουν το αξίωμα και να αναλάβουν. Η Εκκλησία είναι ένα μέρος της οικογένειας όλων και ο καθένας έχει την υποχρέωση να εργαστεί για την Εκκλησία με τον ίδιο τρόπο που οι πρόγονοί μας έκαναν. Είναι, στο κάτω-κάτω, ο χριστιανικός τρόπος. Κλείνοντας, θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω τα μέλη του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου που είχα τη χαρά να υπηρετήσω μαζί τους τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια. Θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω τον αμέτρητο αριθμό των ατόμων που έχουν έρθει να εξυπηρετήσουν την Εκκλησία ΜΑΣ, δωρεάν, από τους ψάλτες για τους δασκάλους Κατηχητικού σχολείου, τη χορωδία, τους νομικούς συμβούλους μας και όλους τους συμβούλους αφιερωμένους στους ενορίτες που αποτελούν τις οργανώσεις της Εκκλησία μας. Έπαινος σε όλες τις δασκάλες του Ελληνικού σχολείου για όλη σκληρή εργασία που κάνουν για να διαιωνίζουν την μητρική μας γλώσσα, για τους ανθρώπους που κοπιάζουν αμέτρητες ώρες για το φεστιβάλ μας και τους νεαρούς που σταθμεύουν τα αυτοκίνητα για τα παιχνίδια ποδοσφαίρου του Rutgers. Ιδιαίτερες ευχαριστίες σε όλους αυτούς τους «προσκυνητές» που έρχονται εμπρός και εργάζονται για την Εκκλησία ΜΑΣ και για τη δόξα του Θεού. Πιστεύω ότι έχω εκπληρώσει την εμπιστοσύνη που μου δείξατε, όταν με ψηφίσατε για να United We Stand διευθύνω αυτή τη κοινότητα για το 2010, προσπάθησα να σας εξυπηρετήσω με το καλύτερο Αγαπήσωμεν Αλλήλους εαυτό μου. Ζητώ την συγχώρεση του καθενός που μπορεί να είχα προσβάλει στην ολοκλήρωση της αποστολής μου. Θυμηθείτε, μείνετε ενωμένοι, και να αγαπάτε ο ένας τον άλλον. Μην επιτρέψετε οποιαδήποτε εξωτερική επιρροή να μας διαιρεί. Ερχόμαστε στην εκκλησία για να προσευχηθούμε για να σώσουμε τις ψυχές μας, και τίποτε άλλο. 11 The Voice of St. George Page 11 Choir News The St. George Choir has had many people grace the Church Divine Liturgy by sharing their voices in song and praising God. Participation in the Divine Liturgy throughout the ecclesiastical year and the special Lenten period services by your church Choir members has been a blessing that has remained a constant over the years that St. George has existed, from the tiny church on River Road in Highland Park, to its current beautiful home in Piscataway. St. George Choir is a member of the Eastern Federation of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians/New Jersey District (EFGOCM) and many Choir members participate in Federation Conferences, District Workshops and Church Music Institutes (CMI), Holy Cross Celebration, Lenten Program Offerings and Christmas concerts. If you have been blessed with the ability to sing, you should consider sharing this talent with your fellow parishioners each week. The Choir needs new voices in order to enhance the service the it offers to the music ministry of St. George. We need you!! If you wish to join us, please see Dr. George Bilalis, Choir Director and Psalti, or any member of the choir for additional information. Youth Singers Workshop - St. George Piscataway Youth Invited to Participate! The first Youth Singers Workshop, sponsored by the New Jersey District of the Eastern Federation of Greek Orthodox Musicians (EFGOCM), was held last October at Holy Trinity Westfield. Marina Alexander was the clinician and the children enjoyed it very much. This year the Federation is planning a Youth Singers Christmas Workshop on Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM. It will be hosted at St. George, Clifton, and will feature vocal techniques for youth using all Christmas music. Kathryn Athanasoulas of Holy Trinity, Westfield and Hope Demitry of St. George, Trenton will be the clinicians. Included in the $25.00 registration fee for participants are folders of music, a T-Shirt, and lunch. Parents who wish to stay for lunch will pay $10. Parents and friends will be invited to hear music the youth singers have learned at the workshop in a short concert at 3:30 PM. On Sunday, December 19, 2010 the EFGOCM choir will present a Christmas Concert in St. Nicholas, Wyckoff. Participants in this youth workshop will be invited to sing in this Christmas concert if they chose. All St. George Piscataway youth are encouraged to participate in this event. They do not have to be in the church choir. Call the Church Office , for registration and permission forms. The deadline for registration is November 1, All New Jersey parishes will be receiving these forms and will be participating in this youth workshop. First on a sheet of paper make a Cross and below it write the words Memorial Service. Below that write only the name(s) of the deceased, NO last names. This paper is given to the priest when you first enter church. Memorial Services (mnimosina) are held on the 40 th day, 3 rd month, 6 th month, 9 th month, 1 year, 2 years and 3 years. Services are also held on the 3 Saturday of Souls before Easter. You need to call the church office to make the arrangements for the making of kollyva and to have the name of the deceased put into the Sunday Bulletin. Besides the name(s) of the deceased and the kollyva, tradition says that for the soul of the deceased, if the family wishes, it is good to offer the following; Oblation Bread, 1 bottle of pure Olive Oil, 1 bottle wine, less than 12% alcohol, preferably Nama or Commandaria, and a good quality incense. A Trisagio Service: These are usually held on the name day of the deceased or the anniversary of his departure. For a simple Trisagio Service only the name(s) of the deceased are needed. The Orthodox Church holds Trisagio Services on the 3 rd and 9 th days following the day of passing, and on the name day and anniversary of his passing.

James 1:17 Beloved in the Lord Reflecting upon the blessings we have in this Nation and in our households, we offer thanksgiving to God confessing that Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down to us from the Father of lights. In this beloved country, November affords us the opportunity to once again celebrate the Thanksgiving Day holiday. We should always give thanks to our Creator, for he has set upon us His inheritance, as His sons and His daughters, to toil in His creation. But on this very special day, as we give thanks to the Almighty God, and as we turn our attention towards the pilgrims who settled on the Eastern shores of our country, we must also remember the pioneers who came to this country with their families and started a new beginning with difficulties, with lack of language, with lack of professional jobs. During difficult times, they created and raised families, they built this parish, all with love, dedication and determination for success and a better life. They labored strenuously to provide for their family. The pilgrims and the pioneers that came to this great land recognized that through God s blessings and compassion, they would have the opportunity to achieve success. We should never forget that the first pilgrims immigrated from England for religious freedom. They were Christians. Our Nation is the land of the free, but should not tolerate the atheists who want to stop the American Nation from giving thanks to God, and to remove all signs of the Judeo-Christian faith from public places. We all owe our presence to those first pilgrims who sat down and shared their first meal with the local Native Americans, respecting each other s faith and traditions. This is the spirit of America. The faithfulness and trust in God must be the guiding light for us today, as we offer prayers of thanks to God, God of our fathers, the Giver and Sustainer of life. Observing Thanksgiving Day is a time for families and friends to gather around the table and partake in God s blessings in unity, love and fellowship. Our lifestyle in America, busy as we are with our daily routine, is not usually conducive to the development of close family ties. Thanksgiving Day is an opportunity to set aside our hectic schedules and enjoy the love and companionship of relatives and friends. We should realize that Thanksgiving Day is a sacred Holiday. Giving thanks to God for His blessings upon us is a most fundamental part of our individual and corporate life of prayer in Christ. This is a day of giving thanks to God, our Father, and Giver of all good things. Let us therefore celebrate Thanksgiving Day in a warm joyous family atmosphere. Put away the differences, no matter how small or great, and be thankful for the gift of life that we share as the children of God. Pray on this day for our soldiers who are not spending the holiday with their families, for the sick who are suffering, for the homeless who cannot enjoy the holiday like us, and also for our whole Nation. With these thoughts as your pastor and spiritual Father, I sincerely wish every one of you and your families Happy Thanksgiving! 13 The Voice of St. George Page 13 Ημέρα των Ευχαριστιών 2010 «Πᾶσα δόσις ἀγαθὴ καὶ πᾶν δώρημα τέλειον ἄνωθεν ἐστίν καταβαῖνον ἀπὸ τοῦ πατρὸς τῶν φώτων παρ ᾧ οὐκ ἔνι παραλλαγὴ ἢ τροπῆς ἀποσκίασμα.» Ιακώβου 1:17 Αγαπητοί μου εν Κυρίω, Καθώς βλέπουμε όλα τα αγαθά που μας παρέχονται σε αυτή τη χώρα και ιδιαιτέρως στα σπίτια μας, προσφέρουμε ευχαριστίες στον Θεό και δεχόματε ότι «παν δώρημα τέλειον άνεθεν εστίν καταβαίνον από του Πατρός των φώτων.» Ο μήνας του Νοεμβρίου σ αυτή τη ευλογημένη χώρα, μας δίνει την ευκαιρία για μία άλλη φορά να γιορτάσουμε την ημέρα των Ευχαριστιών. Πάντα πρέπει να ευχαριστούμε τον Θεό, διότι μας κατέστησε κληρονόμους της Δημιουργίας Του. Σ αυτή την ιδιαίτερη ημέρα όμως, καθώς προσφέρουμε τις ευχαριστίες μας στον Παντοδύναμο Θεό και καθώς στρέφουμε την προσοχή μας στους πρώτους μετανάστες που ήρθαν και εγκαταστάθηκαν σ αυτές τις ανατολικές ακτές της Αμερικής, ας θυμηθούμε και τους προγόνους μας που και αυτοί μετανάστευσαν, έφεραν τις οικογένειές τους και ξεκίνησαν μία καινούργια ζωή με δυσκολίες, χωρίς να ξέρουν την γλώσσα, χωρίς κάποιο επάγγελμα. Σε μία δύσκολη περίοδο της ιστορίας αυτοί οι άνθρωποι δημιούργησαν και ανάθρεψαν οικογένειες, έκτισαν σιγά-σιγά την ενορία μας, όλα με αγάπη, αφοσίωση και αποφασιστικότητα για μία καλύτερη ζωή. Εργάστηκαν σκληρά για τις οικογένειές τους. Όπως οι πρώτοι Ευρωπαίοι μετανάστες έτσι και οι πρόγονοί μας γνώριζαν ότι με την βοήθεια του Θεού και την ευλογία Του, θα είχαν επιτυχία. Δεν πρέπει να ξεχνούμε ότι οι πρώτοι Ευρωπαίοι μετανάστες ήρθαν από τη Αγγλία για την θρησκευτική ελευθερία τους. Ήταν χριστιανοί. Η χώρα μας είναι η χώρα της ελευθερίας, αλλά δεν μπορούμε να αφήσουμε τους άθεους να μας σταματήσουν από το να ευχαριστούμε τον Θεό και να απομακρύνουμε κάθε σύμβολο της Χριστιανικής μας Πίστης από κοινούς χώρους. Όλοι μας οφείλουμε την παρουσία μας εδώ σε εκείνους τους πρώτους κατοίκους που κάθησαν και μοιράστηκαν το πρώτο γεύμα των Ευχαριστιών με τους ιθαγενείς Ινδιάνους της Αμερικής, σεβόμενοι την πίστη και τις παραδόσεις του καθενός. Αυτό είναι το πνεύμα της Αμερικής. Η πίστη και η εμπιστοσύνη στον Θεό πρέπει να είναι το κατευθυντήριο φως για μας σήμερα καθώς προσφέρουμε τις ευχαριστήριες προσευχές μας στον Θεό, τον Θεό των προγόνων μας, τον Θεό που μας δίνει ζωή. Η εορτή των Ευχαριστιών είναι ημέρα οικογενειακή, με φίλους και συγγενείς γύρω από το τραπέζι, ώστε όλοι μαζί να απολαύσουν τις ευλογίες του Κυρίου με αγάπη και ενότητα. Η ζωή μας σήμερα είναι γεμάτη με υποχρεώσεις και η καθημερινή μας ρουτίνα δεν μας επιτρέπει καιρό για δημιουργία στενών οικενειακών δεσμών. Η ημέρα των Ευχαριστιών όμως είναι μία ευκαιρία να αφήσουμε στην άκρη τις πολλές ασχολίες μας και να απολαύσουμε την ημέρα με τα αγαπημένα μας πρόσωπα. Πρέπει να θυμόμαστε ότι η ημέρα των Ευχαριστιών είναι μία ημέρα ιερή. Οι ευχαριστίες μας προς τον Θεό για όλες τις ευλογίες Του είναι ένα βασικό μέρος της προσωπικής και κοινωνικής χριστιανικής μας ζωής. Αυτή είναι η ημέρα που προσφέρουμε τις ευχαρίστίες μας προς τον Θεό, τον Πατέρα μας που μας δίνει όλα τα αγαθά της ζωής. Ας γιορτάσουμε την ημέρα αυτή σε μία ζεστή οικογενειακή ατμόσφαιρα, βάζοντας στη άκρη τις τυχόν διαφορές μας και ας ευχαριστίσουμε τον Θεό για το μεγαλύτερο δώρο Του, την ζωή που έχουμε σαν παιδιά Του. Ας μην ξεχάσουμε στην προσευχή μας τους στρατιώτες που δεν μπορούν να είναι με τις οικογένειές τους την ημέρα αυτή, τους αρρώστους που υποφέρουν, τους άστεγους που δεν μπορούν να απολαύσουν όπως εμείς και γενικά ας προσευχηθούμε για το Αμερικανικό έθνος. Με αυτές τις σκέψεις ως πνευματικός σας πατέρας, ειλικρινά εύχομαι σε κάθε έναν απο εσάς και στις οικογένειές σας Ευτυχισμένη Ημέρα των Ευχαριστιών! 14 November/December 2010 Page 14 Greek Orthodox Youth Association - G. O. Y. A. As we slowly get back into the swing of things, summer break seems like ages ago! The GOYA has been busy at work, planning for the year ahead. Our first meeting, on September 12 th was great! The new board welcomed many old and new faces and everyone was happy to meet up again. We had a fantastic turnout, discussed our upcoming plans and everybody seemed excited to share lots of creative ideas to make this year a memorable one! All practices began the week following our meeting, including: volleyball, junior and senior basketball, and Greek dance. Please remember, if you are interested in participating in any of the activities: you must have your registration in by November 7th and attend practice regularly. The first event that our GOYA attended was the Divine Liturgy at Asbury Park, NJ, to celebrate the Feast Day of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. We couldn t have asked for a more perfect day! After the beautiful service, attended by the clergy and all communities throughout NJ, everyone went out onto the beach to watch our Greek Orthodox youth dive for the Cross. We would like to congratulate all our Holy Cross divers, who received the blessing from Metropolitan Evangelos and represented our community: Ioanna Kontos, Dimitri Demos, Nicole Demos and George Parais. We are very proud of all of you! Once again this year our GOYA will be helping at the church parking events during the Rutgers games, by running a BBQ concession stand. All proceeds help fund our GOYA events, so please sign-up to help on any weekend you can. We already hosted our first Rutgers BBQ and a Sunday Gyro sale after church (9/25 & 9/26). Thanks to all of our volunteers and a great turnout we completely sold out! This year our community, St. George Piscataway, hosted the central N.J. GOYA Kick-Off dance. Our theme this year, chosen by popular demand, was Retro! The dance was held on Friday October 1 st with a great turnout from all GOYANS. It was a fun night and a great year for Retro style! Our next GOYA meeting was held on Sunday, October 3rd. Everyone had a chance to sign up for the annual bowling tournament, taking place on November 6th. Also on Sunday October 3 rd, many Goyans will be walked for the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure at Six Flags Great Adventure. All proceeds benefit breast cancer research and this year s co-captains for Team St. George, were: Maria Exarchakis and Markos Kantilierakis. The Mr. and Ms. GOYA pageant was held on Sunday, October 10 th at the Pines Manor, Edison, N.J. Many members and their families were in attendance to support our parish representatives: Demetri Frangos and Elena J. Georgopoulos. Congratulations to Demetri Frangos for winning the title of Mr. GOYA and to Elena Georgopoulos for second runner-up in Miss GOYA this year! On November 12th-14th the GOYA will be travelling to Holy Cross Hellenic College in Boston, Mass. for our annual religious retreat. This is one of our most rewarding learning experiences of the year! The GOYA s Annual Taverna Night will take place on Saturday, November 20 th. This year the GOYA will be donating to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Please see the flier with more information, in this issue of the Voice of St. George and make your reservations now. A list of donations needed, will also be sent out soon. Goyans, please remember that we will be setting up for the event on Friday November 19 th. Please plan to be there to help out. We hope everybody has enjoyed the first few weeks of our new GOYA year. 15 The Voice of St. George Page 15 Dear Parents and Members of our St. George Community, Sunday School News On behalf of Father Alex, the teachers and staff, we would like to thank everyone for the support and trust you have placed in us in providing an Orthodox Christian foundation of faith and values to your children. We are very proud of our religious education program and of the many committed volunteers. Our Religious Education program is proceeding as planned for the ecclesiastical year. We solicited and received excellent feedback from our staff last June on how to enhance our program, and we are embarking on these suggestions. In preparation for next year s Saint John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival, student workshops are being scheduled for this autumn that will introduce new students to the program and will provide additional guidance, including viewing videos of previous deliveries, to the remaining students. Our music program will be expanded to include the teaching of additional liturgical hymns. We will also expand our food drive to include participation of all grades and the inclusion of our students artwork. Lastly, an exciting program awaits our Teen Rap students, who now have a permanent home on the second floor. If you pass by our hallways, you will note some new faces to our teaching and support staff; we are so grateful to all our staff members for their efforts, dedication and perseverance. An Angel is needed to administrate, that is why I was scared and faint-hearted, knowing myself, because I was not worthy to take care of so many souls, but because God, with ways that only He knows, made me worthy, his poor and vast servant, of this high honor, I pray and I ask from your Highness not to come against me. Until now, that I was outside this great honor, I did not have the responsibility of taking care of so many souls and I was trying and looking to take care of my soul. Now that I accepted taking care of so many souls it is necessary for me not to be quiet, but night and day, whatever non-canonical I see, to correct it. Also your Highness, being a human being, you may make a mistake; you have to accept the correction and imitate King David, who accepted Nathan s correction and he repented for his sin, his adultery and murder. To the rich (archons) and the poor alike I have to teach them and correct them. It is a GREAT sin to God for me to be in this high position of Archpastoralship and while seeing the unrighteousness, to not speak and act like I didn t see it.
