All are invited to attend. BIBLE STUDY REMINDER Father George has resumed Bible Study, which will continue this Wednesday, September 19, at 7:00 pm in the boardroom. The fall sessions will focus on the Gospel of Saint Mark the Evangelist. Everyone is invited to participate. DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE There will be a Daughters of Penelope meeting today, Sunday, September 16, in the Coffee Room after church services. All members are asked to attend. FRIENDS OF CMS "BUY A BRICK" FUNDRAISER Friends of the Cathedral Montessori School are encouraged to buy a personalized engraved brick to be installed along the entrance of the school. Each 4 x 8 brick is $300 and has space for three lines with eighteen characters per line. The engraved bricks will be installed along the front of the school where they will be very visible to parents, students, and visitors every day. A table with information about this fundraiser will be set up in the Coffee Room each Sunday. The Metropolis of Atlanta will experience a unique and blessed event on September 29, 2018, when the miraculous Panagia Vimatarissa icon from the Monastery of Vatopaidi on Mount Athos will arrive at the Diakonia Retreat Center in South Carolina. 3 PHILOPTOCHOS GARAGE SALE A sincere thank you is extended to all, who donated and helped make the Philoptochos Garage Sale Fundraiser the success that it was. Over $5,000 was raised to help continue the Philoptochos Philanthropic Mission. Many charities throughout the city received donations from the garage sale as well. SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCHEON Philoptochos will sponsor a fall Senior Citizens Luncheon this Thursday, September 20, at 11:30 am at the Hellenic Cultural Center. SPECIAL WORKSHOP FOR SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL TEACHERS Father Tony Vrame will offer a special workshop for the Sunday Church School teachers next Sunday, September 23, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the boardroom. The workshop was discussed during the planning sessions over the summer, and it is important that all Sunday Church School staff members participate. Father George encourages 100% attendance. If you have a conflict, he respectfully asks that you adjust your schedule and plan to attend. The ECYM Committee is sponsoring two (2) scholarships, $500 for one junior and $500 for one senior. These scholarships are to encourage attendance in Sunday Church School and provide some funds that should be useful in their college endeavors. The criteria will be based on a point system, and the selection will be made by teachers Gregg Hubley, Viki Moustoukas, and Carol Venturatos. The one junior and one senior with the highest points will be awarded scholarships. One point will be awarded for each of the following: Each SCS class attended, starting August 19, 2018 A short essay at the end of the year describing his/her thoughts on "Living an Orthodox Life" Participating in the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival Message from Father George THE SUNDAY AFTER THE ELEVATION OF THE CROSS Today, all of the parishes in our Archdiocese have been asked to provide donations for the ongoing mission of our school in Brookline, Massachusetts: Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and its undergraduate division, Hellenic College. The Theological School is described on this web site in the following way: Holy Cross is an Orthodox Christian seminary and graduate school of theology centered on the Trinitarian faith as revealed by Jesus Christ and as preserved in its fullness, genuineness, and integrity by the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
