When You descended to the realm of death You as life immortal rendered to Hades a mortal blow by Your all radiant divinity. And when You from infernal depths and the darkness below did raise the dead all the hosts of heaven s powers did proclaim and cry out O life-giving Christ and Our God we give glory Hymn for Sts. Since they had slain through their abstinence and struggles the fiery ragings and fierce motions of the passions, the staunch Martyrs of Christ God laid hold on the graces to drive off the pains and illnesses of the sick and work wonders both while living and after death. Strange in deed is the miracle! That these bare bones should pour forth such overflowing streams of cures. Glory be to our only God. Hymn for the Transfiguration of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ When O Christ our God Thou wast Transfigured on the mountain Thou didst reveal Thy glory to Thy disciples in proportion as they could bear it. Let Thine everlasting light also enlighten us sinners. Through the intercessions of the Theotokos, O Thou Bestower of light, glory to Thee Kontakion Ἡ Παρθένος σήμερον, τὸν προαιώνιον Λόγον, ἐν Σπηλαίῳ ἔρχεται, ἀποτεκεῖν ἀπορρήτως. On this day the Virgin cometh to the cave to give birth to God the Word ineffably, Who was before all the ages. Dance for joy, O earth, on hearing the gladsome tidings; with the Angels and the shepherds now glorify Him Who is willing to be gazed on as a young Child Who before the ages is God. Please allow the children and the teachers of our Sunday School to take communion first so they can go to their classes.

Epistle - St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 6:10-17 Prokeimenon. Mode 2. Psalm 117.14,18 Προκείμενον. ΨΑΛΜΟΙ 117.14,18 The Lord is my strength and my song. Verse: The Lord has chastened me sorely. The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 6:10-17 B rethren, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand, therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Καὶ τὴν περικεφαλαίαν τοῦ σωτηρίου δέξασθαι, καὶ τὴν μάχαιραν τοῦ πνεύματος, ὅ ἐστιν ῥῆμα θεοῦ Thank you to this week s Epistle reader Next week s Epistle reader Nina Kenyon PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS Looking for Stocking stuffers? G o s p e l - L u k e 1 3 : 1 0-17 A t that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. Our most recently canonized saint, St. Porphyrios, has his words recorded in a beautiful book entitled Wounded by Love. There are copies of the book in the bookstore for you to buy and join our club. Our next meeting is Monday, December 11 at 6:00 pm with a potluck dinner and discussion. The book study will not finish on Monday, December 18, but it will continue into the New Year. We are studying the book Truly Human: Recovering Your Humanity in a Broken World by Kevin Scherer, which is available in our bookstore. Our goal is to provide a loving Orthodox Christian atmosphere for support, accountability, study, and discussion, with the ultimate goal of restoring our souls and bodies to the image and likeness of God. Our next meeting will be Thursday, December 14. If you have questions please contact Fr. Vasileios, or Brian Holland at brianholland5143@yahoo.com or Susan Holland at misssoup2002@yahoo.com Parish Council Elections are TODAY Sunday, December 10. VANCO our new E-Giving Platform Warmest greetings in Christ, Let us first begin by mentioning how grateful and thankful the stewardship committee is that so many of you have embraced using E-Giving as your method of choice for donating to our church. It is the best way to contribute because it allows us to better budget our finances and eliminates the need to process as many checks. As of Jan 1st we will no longer support the current E-giving platform and will be converting over to the new Vanco E-Giving platform. We are kindly asking everyone who currently is using the existing platform to create a new account with Vanco before the end of December. There will be a new link on our website this week that you can click on to begin the process. As an added convenience Vanco also offers a very user friendly app you can download onto your smart phone for those individuals who prefer to conduct donating using mobile devices for both Apple and Android. Also, the option to donate via text-messages is also possible with the Vanco system. The information on how to do navigate all these features will be included in your upcoming 2018 Stewardship mailing as well in future bulletins and on our website. Yours In Christ, Harry Stamatis & Nyda Glaros Stewardship Committee
