Sunday March 23 rd : Greek Independence Day Luncheon & Program at the main hall after Liturgy. The Filiki Eteria (spelled also Philikí Etaireía, Greek alphabet: Φιλική Εταιρεία or Εταιρεία των Φιλικών), meaning Society of Friends in Greek, was a secret organization working in the early 19th century, whose purpose was to overthrow Ottoman rule over Greece and to establish an independent Greek state. Etairia members were mainly young Phanariot Greeks from Russia and local chieftains from Greece. One of the leaders of the Etaireia was Alexander Ypsilantis. Organizational structure The whole structure of the Philiki Etaireia was imitating the organizational models of Carbonarism and Freemasonry. The leading team was called the "Invisible Authority" (Αόρατος Αρχή) and was surrounded from the first moment with such secret glamour that everybody believed a lot of important personalities participated, not only eminent Greeks but also foreigners like the Russian Tsar Alexander I. The reality was that initially, the Invisible Authority was composed only of the three founders. Then, from 1815 until 1818, five more were added and after Skoufas' death three more. In 1818 the Invisible Authority was renamed to "Authority of Twelve Apostles" and each Apostle shouldered the responsibility of a separate region. The whole structure was pyramid-like in form and in the top dominated the "Invisible Authority". No one knew it or had the right to ask who created it. Her commands were executed unquestioned, and members did not have the right to make decisions. The society was called «Temple» and it had four levels of initiation: a) the Brothers (αδελφοποιητοί); b) the Recommended (συστηµένοι); c) the Priests (ιερείς); and d) the Shepherds (ποιµένες). The Priests were charged with the duty of initiation in the first two levels. When the Priest approached somebody, it was first to make sure of his patriotism and catechize him in the aims of society; the last stage was to put him under oath. ΑΡΑΧΟΒΑ : Κοσµοπολίτικη και γραφική Ανηφορίστε στο γραφικό χωριουδάκι που έχει µεταµορφωθεί σε γκλάµουρους χειµωνιάτικο προορισµό. Πέρα από την αξεπέραστη γραφικότητα, καθοριστικό ρόλο στην εξέλιξη αυτού του µικρού χωριού σε πόλη-χειµερινό στέκι αποτέλεσε η θέση του, χτισµένο αµφιθεατρικά, σε ανοιχτό ορεινό τοπίο, µέσα στο πράσινο, µε άπλετο φως, πολύ κοντά στους ελφούς, και στο πιο οργανωµένο χιονοδροµικό κέντρο που διαθέτει η Ελλάδα. Η κοσµοσυρροή έφερε και την εξάπλωση. Η Αράχοβα έγινε άκρως κοσµοπολίτικη, µε θαυµάσια καταλύµατα, καλά εστιατόρια και καφέ-µπαρ καθώς και µπουτίκ που προσφέρουν από τυρί και µέλι µέχρι φλοκάτες, υφαντά, τουριστικά είδη και τις γνωστότερες φίρµες σπορ ρούχων και αξεσουάρ. Η πόλη Ακριβώς στο σηµείο αυτό το 1826 ο Καραϊσκάκης κατατρόπωσε τις ορδές του Μουσταφάµπεη, ελευθερώνοντας έτσι την Ανατολική Στερεά. Γι αυτό οφείλετε να δείτε και την προτοµή του ήρωα στην είσοδο της πόλης. Επίσης προσκυνήστε σε δύο ενδιαφέρουσες εκκλησίες. Τον Άγιο Γεώργιο και τον Άγιο Ιωάννη, όπου µε την ευκαιρία θα θαυµάσετε και τις όµορφες αγιογραφίες τους. Πολύ κοντά στην Αράχοβα βρίσκεται και το Κορύκειο Άντρο, για να ταξιδέψουµε και λίγο στη Μυθολογία. Εκεί, µέσα στις µυστηριώδεις σπηλιές λάµβαναν χώρα απίστευτα κυνηγητά και χαριεντισµοί ανάµεσα στο Θεό Πάνα και τις Νύµφες- και... ίας οίδε που κατέληγαν! Εσείς απλά θα δείτε όµορφους σχηµατισµούς από σταλακτίτες και σταλαγµίτες. Στους ελφούς Απέχουν µόνο 7χλµ. και εκπέµπουν µία σχεδόν µεταφυσική οµορφιά... εν την διάλεξαν τυχαία οι αρχαίοι ηµών πρόγονοι αυτή την τοποθεσία για να στήσουν το σπουδαιότερο ιερό τους. Προσέξτε το τοπίο. Πάρτε έναν ξεναγό και ζητήστε του να σας διηγηθεί την ιστορία των ελφών σαν παραµύθι και όχι σαν καθηγητής Ιστορίας. Θα ενθουσιαστείτε βλέποντας το θέατρο, το στάδιο, το µεγαλόπρεπο ναό του Απόλλωνα, και τα σπιτάκια των θησαυρών που η κάθε πόλη αφιέρωνε στο Θεό κρύβοντας µέσα θησαυρούς, κάτι σαν τάµατα. είτε ύστερα το σηµείο όπου η Πυθία έδινε τους χρησµούς εισπνέοντας περίεργα χόρτα... Επίσης το µαγευτικό κατέβασµα της Κασταλίας πηγής και τέλος το µουσείο µε καταπληκτικά εκθέµατα και τον Ηνίοχο-ένα από τα οµορφότερα αγάλµατα της αρχαιότητας- να ξεχωρίζει. Σκι για όλους Τρία χιονοδροµικά κέντρα βρίσκονται κοντά στην Αράχοβα, τα οποία επισκέπτονται ορδές φανατικών σκιέρ κυρίως τα Σαββατοκύριακα. Ο Γεροντόβραχος (17 χλµ.), τα Κελάρια (23χλµ.), και η Φτερόλακκα (26 χλµ.). Το πιο µεγάλο και οργανωµένο χιονοδροµικό κέντρο της Ελλάδας, αυτό του Πανασού, διαθέτει πολλές πίστες, καταστήµατα αξεσουάρ, εστιατόρια κτλ. ARAHOVA: Social and Picturesque Go uphill to the picturesque little village that has become a top glamorous winter destination. Aside from scenery of unrivalled beauty, its position played a major role for its development into a city and winter resort. It is amphitheatrically built, in an open mountainous landscape full of green and sunlight and very close to Delphi. It is the best organized ski resort in Greece. The flood of people brought the spreading. Arahova became extremely cosmopolitan, with marvelous lodgings, good restaurants and café-bars, as well as boutiques which offer cheese, honey, longhaired handmade rugs, handwoven materials, souvenirs and the well known designers clothes and accessories. Take a good look at the landscape. Ask your tourguide to talk to you about the history of Delphi, as if he was telling you a fairy-tale, not as a History Professor. Salmon fillet with almonds and broccoli Joy of the heart! Ingredients for 1 portion: Procedure 180 g of salmon fillet 1 boiled potato 80 g of boiled broccoli "heads" 30 g of almonds 1 glass of white wine 4 tbsp of fish broth 1 tbsp of milk cream salt and pepper 1 tbsp of fennel red and green pepper beans 2 tbsp of butter 2 tbsp of olive oil 1 tbsp of spring onion, chopped 1 tbsp of color pepper Salmon is a special fish and a useful one! It's rich in Omega-3 fats which warm the cockles of one's heart it is proved that the Ω3 protect both from heart diseases and from depression. We in the Hungry Bear must have fallen into a barrel with salmons when we were young! And we'll fall once again, thanks to the following recipe. Put olive oil in a frying pan, and once it's hot, sauté the salmon to "shell" it and make it crunchy on both sides. Sprinkle with wine. Add the fish broth, green and red pepper beans, fennel, spring onion and sliced potato. When it starts to get thick, add milk cream and season with salt and pepper. When the sauce is thick, remove the frying pan from the hot plate. In the second frying pan put 2 tbsp of butter and when it melts, add almonds and broccoli. When they soften a little, we're ready. Put on a dish the fish, near it the broccoli and boiled potato cut in thick pieces, garnish with peppers cut in square pieces and pour the dish with the sauce. Υλικά Φιλέτο σολοµού µε µπρόκολα αµυγδάλου. Ευφραίνει καρδίαν! για µία µερίδα: 180 γρ. φιλέτο σολοµού 1 πατάτα βρασµένη 80 γρ. κορυφέ µπρόκολου βρασµένε 30 γρ. φιλέτο αµύγδαλο 1 ποτήρι λευκό κρασί 4 κουτ. σούπα ζωµό ψαριού 1 κουτ. σούπα κρέµα γάλακτο αλάτι και πιπέρι 1 κουτ. σούπα άνηθο κόκκινο και πράσινο πιπέρι σε κόκκου 2 κουτ. σούπα βούτυρο 2 κουτ. σούπα ελαιόλαδο 1 κουτ. σούπα φρέσκο κρεµµυδάκι ψιλοκοµµένο 1 κουτ. σούπα χρωµατιστέ πιπεριέ ιαδικασία Εκλεκτό ιχθύ ο σολοµό και προπάντων ευεργετικό! Πλούσιο σε ωµέγα 3 λιπαρά που ευφραίνουν την καρδιά µα έτσι και αλλιώ. Έχει αποδειχθεί ότι τα Ω3 προστατεύουν τόσο από τα καρδιακά νοσήµατα όσο και από την κατάθλιψη. Βάζουµε ελαιόλαδο στο τηγάνι Α' και µόλι ζεσταθεί, ρίχνουµε το σολοµό, για να τον θωρακίσουµε και να τον "τραγανοποιήσουµε" και από τι δυο µεριέ. Σβήνουµε µε κρασί. Προσθέτουµε το ζωµό ψαριού, του πράσινου και κόκκινου κόκκου πιπέρι, τον άνηθο, το φρέσκο κρεµµυδάκι και την πατάτα κοµµένη σε χοντρά κοµµάτια. Μόλι αρχίσει να πήζει, ρίχνουµε την κρέµα γάλακτο και αλατοπιπερώνουµε. Αφού δέσει η σάλτσα µα, κατεβάζουµε το τηγάνι από τη φωτιά. Στο τηγάνι Β' βάζουµε 2 κουτ. σούπα βούτυρο και αφού λιώσει, ρίχνουµε τα αµύγδαλα και τα µπρόκολα. Μόλι µαλακώσουν λίγο και το αµύγδαλο αρωµατιστεί, είµαστε έτοιµοι. Βάζουµε στο πιάτο µα το ψάρι, δίπλα τα µπρόκολα και παραδίπλα τα βραστή πατάτα κοµµένη σε στρουµπουλά κοµµάτια, γαρνίρουµε µε τι πιπεριέ κοµµένε σε τετραγωνάκια και περιχύνουµε το πιάτο µε τη σάλτσα. Καλή µα όρεξη!

Οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι περπατούν κατά τη διάρκεια της ζωής τους 185.000 χιλιόµετρα. τεσσερισήµισι φορές δηλ. τον γύρο του κόσµου.
