ANNUNCIATION GREEK ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL Norfolk, VA Rev. Presbyter George Bessinas, M.Div., Dean Rev. Protopresbyter Constantine Rogakos, Ph. D., Associate SUNDAY BULLETIN AND WEEKLY NEWS Parable of the Foolish Rich Man Ninth Sunday of Luke Sunday, November 22, 2015

Sunday, November 22, 2015 Orthros (Matins) Divine Liturgy (of St. John Chrysostom) 8:45 AM 10:00 AM On Sunday, Nov. 22, we commemorate the holy apostle of the seventy Philemon, Archippus, Apphia and Onesimus. We also commemorate the martys Cicily, Vallerian, Tiburtius, Mark, Stephen, Procopius, Menigius, Christopher and Euphemia, Thalleleos, Anthimos, Saint Kallistos and St. Thaddius. Resurrectional Apolytikion Mode Plagal 4th You descended from on high, O compassionate One, and condescended to be buried for three days, so that from the passions You might set us free. Our life and resurrection, O Lord, glory be to You. Apolytikion for the Feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple. Mode 4 Today is the prelude of God's good pleasure, and the proclamation of humanity's salvation. In the temple of God, the Virgin is presented openly, and in herself she announces Christ to all. Let us, then, with a great voice cry aloud to her: "Rejoice, you are the fulfillment of the Creator's dispensation." Apolytikion of St. Theodore the Commander in 2nd Tone When in God's army you had truly enlisted, O holy Theodore, the bearer of trophies, you were made a splendid general of the heavenly King; using as a weapon faith, you were ready for battle and utterly destroyed the ranks that were amassed by the demons, and as a victorious athlete you were seen, wherefore in true faith, we bless you and honor you. Apolytikion of the Annunciation in 4th Tone Today is the beginning of our salvation, The revelation of the eternal mystery! The Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin. As Gabriel announces the coming of Grace. Together with him let us cry to the Theotokos: Rejoice, O Full of Grace, The Lord is with You! Seasonal Kontakion Mode 4 The Savior's most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. She is extolled by the Angels of God. A heavenly tabernacle is she.

The Epistle Reading St. Paul's First Letter to the Ephesians 4:1-7 Prokeimenon. Mode Plagal 4. Psalm 75.11,1 Make your vows to the Lord our God and perform them. Verse: God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel. BRETHREN, I, a prisoner for the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. The Gospel of Luke 12:16-21 The Lord said this parable: "The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." As he said these things, he cried out: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
