PRE-PRIMARY NEWSLETTER 9 September 2016 Dear Parents, We ve had a busy and fun-filled few weeks at the Pre-Primary School. Our Storytelling evenings which were held on Wednesday and Thursday last week were a great success. The parents were treated to an informative talk by Marian from Raising Readers. At the talk it was stressed that it is the teacher s role to teach the mechanics of reading but that it is the parent s role to raise a reader who has a lifelong love for books. The parents socialized over tea, coffee and delicious eats whilst their children had pizza and hot chocolate. Children were enthralled by stories by Michelle Tinkler from Little Oscars, such as The Book with No Pictures and were entertained with puppets and an exciting story by out High School s Dora Palierakis. Thank you to the PTA and teachers for making this event such a successful one.
HERITAGE DAY We celebrated Heritage Day through the medium of story, role play and songs. The highlight of the day was the boerewors and pap we had for lunchtime. We were also entertained by some cultural dancers who came to sing and dance for us.
LIBRARY The children are enjoying going into our library with their class and choosing their own library books. The library is a beautiful, bright and happy place in our school now and it starting to become the heart of our school. DOLL S CORNER Thank you to our PTA Chairperson, Monica Konstas, who has turned our Doll s Corner in the Grade R block into a beautiful space for our children. Monica has used her exceptional taste as well as her eye for detail to make this space a truly unique Fantasy Play Area for our children. Thank you to all the families who have supported our PTA functions this year because you have helped make this a reality.
