VOLUME cture udy Le t S e m e Ho 1 Effectiv f form rents o For pa VIII, ISSUE IV There's nothing like the European Youth Parliament! Once you get into it, you don't want to get out. It's an experience that will affect your personality, and from that kind of experience you can see how sensitive you are! Believe me! As the only boy that had the chance to go to the Nationals and then to the Internationals, I felt proud of representing Pascal English School Larnaca and then Cyprus. It doesn't really matter if you are a boy or girl, eventually we all had the same feelings after departing from the EYP. Personally, the 71st International Session in Amsterdam 2012 really touched me. In 10 days I considered 15 people to be family. I got so close to them, I learned how they work, how they think and how much they care about each other no matter the nationality, because as the EU motto says we are "UNITED IN DIVERSITY"! I might have been absent from the school for a long period, and as an IB student I know the consequences of that GLIMPSE but after all... I DON'T REGRET IT! I am proud to be an alumni of the EYP and I will still be able to follow and take part in Regional and National Sessions of other countries as well! Being the first students to represent Pascal English School Larnaca is more than an honour. That's a very small achievement. What I really hope is that this will become tradition at Pascal. We should always be able to send students abroad to experience it for themselves. That would be a great achievement for Pascal English School Larnaca. Last but not least, I shall thank the rest of the students that were with us in the National Session and helped us a lot to achieve something that we knew nothing about 1 year ago! And also our teachersupervisor Ms. Aspasia Manti for her great cooperation and guidance! Thank you all VERY MUCH! Charalambos Lappas, IB 1

Φάξηο Ξηνύξνπππα (ΙΒ1) Shooting is the second most popular international sport behind track and field. It is unique and a sport one enjoys for a lifetime. It is an outstanding way to provide human growth and development opportunities. It also introduces safe and responsible use of firearms and opens valuable vocational and life-long recreational education. Teacher in charge: Mr. Marios Thoma During the first session, on October 30, the IB 1 students (21) went to St Spyridon School (a school for children with special needs) and got involved in four activities: Crafts - making Christmas decorations that the school is selling to raise money, Cooking - baking cupcakes, Futsal - some of our students played with boys of St Spyridon, Bowling - all students enjoyed a game together. During the second session, on November 11, together with the Art Club, some IB students and some students from the St. Spyridon enjoyed a theatrical play about the environment and some others worked on more Christmas decoration items. Ms. Christiane Camacho Ms. Aspasia Manti The Mathematics Olympiad Club has made its debut this year at Pascal English School. The students of the club will represent our school in the 9 th Pancyprian Students Conference with this year s topic being Hidden Mathematics in Football. V O L U M E V I I I, I S S U E I V Students of the Sport Variety Club showed their combative nature at Paintball Lapatsa, where they went to war with paint guns and had a great day. The club also visited K- Bowling for a few action packed games. On the first Club Day, our club visited the animal shelter in Ormidia, Argos. There, we were given the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Stella Stylianou, the person in charge of the shelter. She informed us of all the work that is being done at the shelter and their attempts at raising the public s awareness towards animal rights and welfare. On the second Club day, our club visited the Camel Park at Mazotos, where we had the chance to see camels, horses, donkeys, ostriches and many more animals. The management of the park informed us of the living of the animals in the park and their daily lives. Ms. Maria Papachristodoulou Ms. Myrto Michaelas The aim of this club was to introduce our students to the wonderful benefits of exercise and dance. Students enjoyed the dancing classes like Zumba and Sha bam immensely. It is a great way to exercise your body and mind! These dance classes are a great way to shape up and let out your inner star! The activities we engaged in were vibrant, unique and fun! We thoroughly enjoyed dancing to chart-topping popular music and had the chance to bond with each other in a fun way! Overall we had a great time! Ms. Varvara Kounna Ms. Theano Kyriacou Once again, it was a great pleasure to welcome new students to our club. Loads of interest was shown when grooming and preparing their horses. And, when the actual riding took place, the students participated wholeheartedly. We look forward to more merriment in our next Club days. Ms. Angela Apostolou Ms. Christina Karaviotou A visit to a beads shop, was enough to dazzle the ladies and get them excited with jewellery making. They made beautiful necklaces and bracelets with wire and Swarovski beads as well as Christmas ornaments with wire. Teacher n charge: Ms. Irene Petrou Ms. Constantia Papamarkou, Ms. Panayiota Athanasiou The Mosaics Club this academic year visited Helen s Art Studio where they were shown how to design a mosaic piece, how to cut and stick tiles. The second club day was then the beginning of the decoration of their project pieces like mirrors and frames. Teacher in charge: Ms. Denise Evgeniou The Sixth formers club came to a new lease of life with this year s students. We swapped the cliff jumping extravaganza for wave bopping at Kornos in Protaras, which was just as much fun (though maybe not for the lifeguard!) Our second day saw us racing around the Lucky Star Go- Karts track, where the owners organized a tournament and we had a carefree time. Mr. Demos Kaoullas, Ms Eleni Ioannou, Mr. Gregoris Demetriou, Ms. Despina Kaittani Chess players of different levels enjoyed playing friendly games with their peers in a stress-free environment. Having been introduced to the main principles of a good opening and ending game, they spent time assessing game positions using their critical thinking and problem solving skills. They are now looking forward to participating in the first official tournament that will be held on January 5 th at Forum School in Nicosia.
