Divine Liturgy of St. John the Chrysostom Resurrectional Apolytikion p. 111-113 The joyful news of Your resurrection was proclaimed by the angel to the women disciples. Having thrown off the curse that fell on Adam, they ran elatedly to tell the apostles: Death has been vanquished; Christ our God is risen from the dead, blessing all the world with His great mercy. For the Feast. Mode 2 We venerate Your immaculate icon, O good Lord, and entreat You to forgive our offences, O Christ our God. By Your own choice you were pleased to ascend the Cross in the flesh, to deliver us, whom You created, from our slavery to the foe. Therefore we cry to You with gratitude: You have filled all things with joy, O our Savior, by coming to save the world. Apolytikion of St. Katherine - Plagal 1st Mode The all-blessed bride of Christ let us extol in song * Katerina the divine and protector of Sinai * our assistance and unfailing firm support; * for she did muzzle brilliantly * the ungodly clever men by the power of the Spirit. 2

And now as a crowned Martyr * the great mercy she pleads for all of us. Αλλ ως έχουσα τό κράτος απροσμάχητον, Εκ παντοίων με κινδύνων ελευθέρωσον Ίνα κράζω σοι, Χαίρε, Νύμφη ανύμφευτε Kontakion - 4th Tone - p. 269-271 Victorious Lady, mighty champion, defending us, we your servants now inscribe to you in this hymn of thanks, for you rescued us from suffering and tribulation. Theotokos, with your power that can never fail, keep us safe from every danger our whole life long that we may cry to you: Rejoice, O Bride unwedded. From the Triodion On this day, the first Sunday of Lent, we commemorate the restoration of the holy and venerable icons enacted by the ever memorable Emperors of Constantinople, Michael and his mother Theodora, during the patriarchate of Saint Methodius the Confessor. The Reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 11:24-26, 32-40 BRETHREN, by faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to share ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets -- who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign enemies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were 3

killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated -- of whom the world was not worthy -- wandering over deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. The Reading is from The Gospel of John 1:43-52 The that time, Jesus decided to go to Galilee. And he found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael, and he said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the son of God! You are the King of Israel!" Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these." And he said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man." ZOE Hi to all our ZOE friends The March 9th meeting will be an outing to 'Exploration Tower' in Port Canaveral at the price of $4.28. We will be meeting at 10:30 am. When you arrive be sure that you tell the Tower that you are with the ZOE group. You will be on your own for transportation. The museum-like tour is hands-on and the view from the Tower by floors, is truly scenic. Afterwards lunch will be at Zachary's Restaurant in Cape Canaveral, at 12:30 pm not far from the Tower. We will need a headcount for the Tower and restaurant. April will be a 'NO meeting' month since preparation for Easter/Pascha will be in order and families will be busy. More info down the road, but May and June will end on high notes for another exciting year for our ZOE get-togethers... Call Tresa Roman at 321 757 9404 or Christine Balba at cell # 603 233 4659 or Elaine Roman at 321 757 4348 with any questions... ZOE... here's to LIFE!!! 8

For Holy Communion and Antidoron, we should approach in an orderly, pious and respectful manner. Ushers will guide the congregation to approach row by row from front to back. Please follow the direction of the ushers. We encourage Sunday School children, teachers and their families to sit in the first few rows at the front left of the nave so that they can see what is happening in the service and get to Sunday School quickly. Priest Office Hours Fr. Demetri has designated Noon - 3 PM, Tuesday through Thursday as his office hours.
