Solidarity Tracks Cultural NGO for Youth www.tamonopatia.org tel/fax +30 2645023123 pistes_solidaires@yahoo.gr Mission: evaluation, result: evolution" "Αποστολή :αξιολόγηση, Αποτέλεσμα :εξέλιξη European Training Course Date: 25 of June 3 of July2013 (8 activity days) Arrival day: 24/06/2013 Departure Day: 04/07/2013 Venue: Greece, Lefkas 35 participants from 19 Europeans youth organisations from 16 countries (1 or 2 participants from each organisation) Working language: English (French, and Greek if is necessary) Context, summary and objectives: The evaluation of a project, an action or an activity of non formal education with the young constitutes, a working tool which serves the purpose of laying plans as well as improving our competences and the quality of the project`s activities addressed to the young people. Moreover, the evaluation process ought to be regarded as a strategic device integrated into the broader process conducive to social change, since its principal advantage (or: virtue) lies in its capacity to help us carry out things in a better way than before. In particular, the evaluating methods of our projects & activities within the frame of the European program Youth in Action for the informal education are in continuous evolution thanks to the initiatives of the prime-movers of the various projects for the young, as well as to the efforts made by both the
executive agency Audio-Visual Education & Culture of the centre of human resource SALTO and the national Agencies of the Program [ Youth ion Action ]. In face of both the swift evolution of the younger generations and the continuous multiplication of the challenges which the young people are confronted to, and with a view to keep ensuring the quality of the projects of non-formal education so that they might come up to the expectations and interests of the Youth, taking into account the guidelines of the E.U. s policy for the Youth («Agenda 2020»), it is of use to further develop the assessment/evaluation methods for our actions of informal education. Heightening the quality of these methods with no doubt will bring better exploitation of the results of our evaluation sessions and a better recognition of the achievement of the young beneficiaries of our projects in terms of their knowledge, know-how, skills & attitudes. In this context, we wish to organize a training course where 30 youth workers and young people active in non-formal education programs will be gathered at Lefkas (Greece) for 8 days in order to exchange ideas & methods for evaluation and exploitation of the results of evaluation sessions as well as to develop new competences a) on various forms of evaluation, b) on the methodology of evaluation c) on how to choose the proper evaluating method in function of our particular activities and d) on the ways to exploit the results of evaluation sessions within the frame of the informal education, mainly of the Youth in Action programme. In this training course, we will create an innovative educative tool concerning the various methods for the evaluation of the non-formal activities addressed to young people. To this end, we will be inspired by the practical experiences of our partners as well as by the previous research, the publications & the initiatives launched in the past.
Objectives: 1 - Allow a group of youth workers and youth leaders from different countries working in non-formal education for young people to share their experiences their expertise and best practices on various methods of monitoring and evaluation of non formal activities for youth. 2 - Allow a group of youth workers and youth leaders from different countries active in non formal education for youth to acquire new skills about new methods for monitoring and evaluation of non formal activities for youth 3 - Allow participants of our training to be more able to adapt their projects to the needs and expectations of their target groups through new methods of evaluations. 4 - Create a common tool for monitoring and evaluation of non formal activities for youth which help all of us to plan and track our projects, choose our methods of monitoring and evaluation, and exploit in the better way the results of our assessments. 5 - Facilitate NGO's active in the non formal education for young people to enroll in an evaluation process to better manage their projects and activities, but also allow them to reveal and make it more readable the direction of their projects.
