GOYA SPRING CAMP 2016 EPISTLE READING St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 4:14-16; 5:1-6 Prokeimenon. Mode Plagal 2. Psalm 27.9,1 O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance. Verse: To you, O Lord, I have cried, O my God. BRETHREN, since we have a high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. Because of this he is bound to offer sacrifice for his own sins as well as for those of the people. And one does not take the honor upon himself, but he is called by God, just as Aaron was. So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, "Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee"; as he says also in another place, "Thou art a priest for ever, after the order of Melchizedek." 14 3
ST. VASILIOS PTA MAY DAY WINE/BEER TASTING GOSPEL READING Sunday of the Holy Cross The Gospel according to Mark 8:34-38; 9:1 The Lord said: "If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? For what can a man give in return for his life? For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power." 12 5

If you are using your foot to lower the kneeler please have your foot support the kneeler until it gently touches the floor. The multiple banging of the kneelers is a great distraction at the most solemn moment of the Divine Liturgy. Thank you for your attention to this issue. FROM OUR CHOIR For the last 2 weeks our Family Choir was singing downstairs instead of the choir loft. We appreciate all the positive comments we have received. Out goal is always to encourage congregational singing, especially on this Holy Season of Lent. We will occasionally leave the comfort of our choir loft to be closer to you. If you have any questions please see myself or Marietta Brooks. Tony Vatousios SECOND TRAY WILL BE PASSED TODAY A second tray will be passed TODAY to benefit the Holy Cross Seminary. 11

If you would like a Trisagion at the graveside during the week you are kindly asked to make an appointment by calling the church office. HOSPITAL VISITS Due to HIPAA privacy rules, hospitals no longer provide a list of Orthodox patients to us. Therefore, if you or a loved one are, or will be, in the hospital, please contact the church office for a pastoral visit. Also, please notify the office if a friend or family member is in a rehab center, nursing home, assisted living facility or under hospice care. ALTAR DONATIONS LITURGY LIGHTS In loving memory of Michael C. Lignos. James Maravelias in memory of wife Dora Maravelias. WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly, the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives, only Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church. If you have any questions or concerns please speak with Father Chris. COFFEE FELLOWSHIP HOUR Please join us for Coffee Fellowship Hour today immediately following the first divine liturgy in the Educational Center. 10 7
LENTEN SERIES OF SPEAKERS April 13: Fr. Akilviadis Calivas Topic: "Living the mystery of Holy Week and Pascha". Please join us for Pre-Sanctified Liturgy and light Lenten supper before the talks. ACCESSIBLE!! It is with great joy and appreciation that we announce that the church building at St Vasilios is Handicap Accessible! We have finished the ramp project (except for some plantings and summer beautification plans), the interior lift/elevator and the two newly rehabbed accessible bathrooms on the ground floor. These projects would not have been completed without the generous donations of the Gerondelis Foundation, who completely funded the ramp project, the Endowment Grant and other wonderful donors, ministries, organizations and stewards who funded the lift. Please join us in an Agiasmos, Blessing and Ribbon Cutting this Sunday April 3 rd, immediately following the first Divine Liturgy. Also, please remember to tell your friends and loved ones who may have mobility issues that the church is a sanctuary to all and now easier to attend. Please note: **There are special locations throughout the church where someone in a wheelchair or with a walker can easily sit with the congregation. Please ask the Sexton or a member of the Parish Council to help you find a spot. **The ladies room on the ground floor has also been set up as a baby changing station and a comfortable area for nursing moms or parents with fussy babies to sit. We will happily show you where it is if you do not know. 8 9
