Psalm 32.221 Let your mercy O Lord be upon us. Verse: Rejoice in the Lord O ye righteous. St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 5:8-19 Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true) and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it is said "Awake O sleeper and arise from the dead and Christ shall give you light." Look carefully then how you walk not as unwise men but as wise making the most of the time because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart. 14th Sunday of Luke The Gospel of Luke 18:35-43 At that time as Jesus drew near to Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging; and hearing a multitude going by he inquired what this meant. They told him "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." And he cried "Jesus Son of David have mercy on me!" And those who were in front rebuked him telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more "Son of David have mercy on me!" And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him; and when he came near he asked him "What do you want me to do for you?" He said "Lord let me receive my sight." And Jesus said to him "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed him glorifying God; and all the people when they saw it gave praise to God. As the expense of mailing individual cards has increased over the years and as busy lives leave little time for addressing stacks of envelopes our community Christmas card has become more popular. The proceeds of the card are used exclusively to strengthen the parish s ministry of benevolence and help for the poor. In these difficult economic times the exhausted resources of the Altar Fund need your generous response. We invite all who wish to make a free-will offering in whatever amount they consider appropriate. Please join us in sharing the blessings of the Christmas season. Fill in the following application and mail or bring it to the church office by the deadline of December 3 2012. PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY Name(s): Tel. No.: Donation Amount: 5

CEMETERY VISITS: Due to the number of sacraments 40 day blessings and memorials on Sundays it is difficult to make unscheduled cemetery visits on Sundays after liturgy. If you would like a Trisagion at the graveside you are kindly asked to make an appointment during the week by calling the church office. WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS! Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are only permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church. If you have any questions or concerns please speak with Father Chris. HOSPITAL VISITS Salem Hospital is making a change in order to be in compliance with new privacy laws. This change will mean that we will no longer receive the list of Orthodox patients in the hospital. So if you or a loved one will be in the hospital please call the church office so that we can pay you a pastoral visit. This change will also affect Beverly Hospital as well. Also families of people in nursing home please call the church office so that their names will be included on the list of residents.
