8 th Sunday of Luke On this Day We Also Commemorate: John the Merciful, Patriarch of Alexandria; Nilus the Ascetic of Sinai; Martin, Bishop of Tours Apolytikion for St. Raphael in the Fourth Tone Because of the finding of your holy relics, wise one, * the Island of Lesvos has been filled fully with the grace, * which God richly gave to you. * You, O devout martyr Raphael, paradoxically * appeared to many people, and you grant cures and healings. * And therefore we the faithful re-joice in all your miracles. Apolytikion for St. Raphael in the First Tone Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom Singers and Chanters: Richard Bethune, Tabitha Bethune, Anthony Birozes, David Boyd, Lynne Lucher, and Jimmy Smith Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Plagal of the Second When the angelic powers appeared at Your grave, the soldiers guarding it feared and became as dead. And standing by the sepulcher was Mary who was seeking Your immaculate body. You devastated Hades, not afflicted by it. You went to meet the virgin, and granted eternal life. You resurrected from the dead. O Lord, glory to You. To the offspring of Ithaca, the pride and joy of Lesvos, * monastic martyrs glory, let us offer to Raphael our songs of praise; * for lately he appeared, and pours out cures and healings to us all. * Inexplicably he appears to believers, both in dreams and awake, who cry: * Glory to Christ who gave you His might. * Glory to Him who gave you miracles. * Glory to Him who through you fulfills our prayerful requests. Apolytikion in honor of Sts. Raphael, Nicholas & Irene Having contended on Lesvos for the sake of Christ God, you have sanctified the island since the discovery of your sacred relics, O blessed ones; wherefore we honor you, O Godbearing Raphael, together with Nicholas and virgin Irene, as our divine protectors and intercessors with the Lord. Apolytikion for the Hierarch in the Plagal of the Fourth In your patience you have won your reward, O righteous Father. You persevered unceasingly in prayer; you loved the poor, and provided for them in all things. Wherefore, intercede with Christ, our God, O blessed John the Almsgiver, that our souls be saved. Kontakion for the Departed in the Plagal of the Fourth Remember, Lord, your servants; for you are good. Forgive them all within they have erred in this life; for there is none without sins except for you, who are able to grant rest to the departed. Seasonal Kontakion in the Fourth Tone The Savior's most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. She is extolled by the Angels of God. A heavenly tabernacle is she.

EPISTLE READING Prokeimenon. Grave Mode. Psalm 115.15,12 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Verse: What shall I render to the Lord for all that he has given me? The reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to the II Corinthians 9:6-11 Brethren, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good work. As it is written, "He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

GOSPEL READING The Gospel According to Luke 10:25-37 At that time, a lawyer stood up to put Jesus to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?" And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live." But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

PRAYERS BEFORE HOLY COMMUNION I believe and confess, Lord, that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, Who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. I also believe that this is truly Your pure Body and that this is truly Your precious Blood. Therefore, I pray to You, have mercy upon me, and forgive my transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, in word and deed, in knowledge or in ignorance. And make me worthy, without condemnation, to partake of Your pure Mysteries for the remission of sins and for eternal life. Amen. How shall I, who am unworthy, enter into the splendor of Your saints? If I should dare to enter into the bridal chamber, my vesture will condemn me, since it is not a wedding garment; and being bound up, I shall be cast out by the angels. Cleanse, O Lord, the filth of my soul, and save me, as You are the one Who loves mankind. In Your love, Lord, cleanse my soul, and save me. Master Who loves mankind, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, let not these Holy Gifts be to my judgment because I am unworthy, but rather for the purification and sanctification of both soul and body and the pledge of the life and Kingdom to come. It is good for me to cleave unto God and to place in Him the hope of my salvation. O Son of God, receive me today as a partaker of Your mystical supper. For I will not speak of the mystery to Your enemies, nor will I give You a kiss, as did Judas. But like the thief, I confess to You: Remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom.

With the proper accounts, anyone who shops with either of these vendors can sign up Sts RNI to receive a periodic donation from the vendor, based on purchase amounts. Sts RNI is already in the list of recognized charities for both vendors. Our 501(3)c name is Eastern Orthodox Community of Northern Georgia, Inc. Here is a link that explains the Amazon program: https://smile.amazon.com/ref=smi_se_dshb_bk_smi Here is a link to sign up with the Kroger program: www.krogercommunityrewards.com or email at kcr11@kroger.com If you have a moment, please sign up with these vendors. If you have questions, please don t hesitate to contact me. Thanks. Hope and Joy Ministry Contact Jennie Johnson at jenniepsi@yahoo.com for more information on the Hope and Joy Ministry. Outreach Ministry The Family Promise families will be at Sts RNI on December 10-17. Please volunteer to help us with these events. It truly takes a village! Contact Anthony Birozes Anthony.Birozes@ejgallo.com if you can help! HOW CAN YOU HELP? Some of you have asked what other things volunteers can do to help. Here's some areas where they could use some help: Part Time Driver - We are currently seeking a part-time driver ASAP. This position is great for someone with a flexible schedule hoping to earn a little extra money. The hours will vary as we do have some volunteers in place; so the driver will need to be able to fill the spots which are not able to be covered by the volunteers. Hours may range from early morning to evening to weekends. This person will be required to pass a background check, random drug screenings and have a clean motor vehicle report. They do not need a CDL, but they will be driving a car, a bus and/or a box truck. Please have anyone who may be interested contact me. THANKS! Volunteer Drivers & Day center Volunteers: We are in need of folks who are willing to share their time with our guests either being present at the day center or transporting our guests to and from the churches, work, appointments, etc. If you or someone you know might be able to help us out, please email me. For these volunteers, we do require a background check and motor vehicle report, and they will have additional training. Even if someone can do a few hours or only one day a week, we would appreciate their assistance. Also, this offers a great opportunity for potential volunteers who are only limited availability since the drivers are needed seven days a week and the day center volunteers are needed on the weekends. Here's the link for weekend coverage. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f4eaba92eaaf49-weekend1
