Epistle Reading St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 12:6-14 Brethren, having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who contributes, in liberality; he who gives aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Gospel Reading The Gospel According to Matthew 9:1-8 At that time, getting into a boat Jesus crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say 'Rise and walk?' But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" he then said to the paralytic -- "Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men. AHEPA Scholarship The Salt Lake Chapter of AHEPA is once again offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors entering college this fall and to undergraduates currently attending a college full time. We are awarding four $1000 scholarships to qualified applicants. Membership in AHEPA by the applicant or a family member is not required. The applicant or family must be a member of a Greek Orthodox Church in the Greater Salt Lake area. Deadline is August 1st, 2018. The winners will be announced at the annual AHEPA BBQ on August 19th at the Prophet Elias pavilion. The Metropolis of Denver is proud to host our Second Annual YAL Conference Finding A Community in Christ The Metropolis of Denver YAL Conference is a young adult led, clergy supported event intended to connect Orthodox Christians from across the country for a unique weekend of faith and fellowship. We want this conference to be an opportunity for young adults to come together to discuss our struggles and remember we are not alone in them. Through a series of speakers and social events, our aim is to create an atmosphere of safety and support while emphasizing our shared experiences in our walk with Christ. We will focus conversations on everyday issues that are faced by typical people and how those issues impact our Faith. This is an annual event meant to compliment a year-round calendar of ministry within the Metropolis of Denver- curated by young adults for young adults. Our hope is to build a strong community across the Metropolis and the country that continues to come together to experience life in the Church.
