The Theological School is described on this web site in the following way: Holy Cross is an Orthodox Christian seminary and graduate school of theology centered on the Trinitarian faith as revealed by Jesus Christ and as preserved in its fullness, genuineness, and integrity by the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. The School embodies the historic and specific educational mission of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and its Archdiocese in the United States. Holy Cross educates its students to articulate and understand the biblical, historical, dogmatic, ethical, and liturgical traditions of the Orthodox Church. Students are prepared to become future Orthodox clergy and lay leaders, who demonstrate faith, sensitivity, and compassion as they cultivate an attitude of offering a service of truth and love in the world. Through its graduate degree programs, Holy Cross offers men and women the opportunity to become spiritually mature persons through immersion in worship, theological studies, and service to community. The Institutional Vision Statement is: To be the intellectual, educational, and spiritual formation center of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, stimulating, developing, and sustaining ordained and lay vocations for service to Church and society, based on faith. Holy Cross is the only school operated by our Archdiocese to train the clergy and lay leaders for ministry in the church. World Orthodoxy has been nurtured by the graduates of our school as they have contributed to the vitality and growth of Orthodox churches and communities throughout America and in over twenty countries around the world. Well over 80% of the priests serving in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America are Holy Cross graduates. In the past, each parish of the Archdiocese had been invited to become a Parish Partner with our Theological School, having been asked to focus on the following: 1) PRAY. Agree to pray for the vitality and growth of Hellenic College and Holy Cross. 2) SAY. Agree to inform your parishioners about the vital role Hellenic College and Holy Cross plays in educating and inspiring the future priests and lay leaders of the Greek Orthodox Church in America. 3) TRAY. Agree to pass a tray at least once a year for the support of the crucial mission of Hellenic College and Holy Cross. Your prayers, good will, and financial support will truly make a difference! Today, our Ladies Philoptochos Society will be taking a collection for the annual financial commitment to our School as we commemorate the Elevation of the Holy Cross. Please support this vital mission of our Church here in America. Thank you!

THE EPISTLE Galatians 2:16-20 The Lord will give strength to his people; The Lord will bless His people with peace. Bring to the Lord, O sons of God, bring to the Lord glory and honor. BRETHREN, you know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. THE GOSPEL Mark 8:34-38; 9:1 The Lord said: "If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? For what can a man give in return for his life? For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."
