APOLYTIKION When the angelic powers appeared at Your grave, the soldiers guarding it feared and became as dead. And standing by the sepulcher was Mary who was seeking Your immaculate body. You devastated Hades, not afflicted by it. You went to meet the virgin, and granted eternal life. You resurrected from the dead. O Lord, glory to You. SAINT SPYRIDON At the First Synod you were manifest as a champion,* and a wonder-worker, our God-bearing Father Spyridon.* Wherefore, you spoke to one dead in the tomb,* and a serpent you changed into gold.* And while chanting your sacred services,* you had angels celebrating with you, O most holy one.* Glory to Him who glorified you!* Glory to Him who crowned you!* Glory to Him who through you works healings for everyone. KONTAKION On the mount were You transfigured, and Your disciples, as much as they could bear, beheld Your glory, O Christ our God; that when they should see You crucified, they would know Your Passion to be willing, and would preach to the world that in truth You radiance of the Father.

Πρός Ρωμαίους Επιστολῆς Παύλου 15:1-7 Ἀδελφοί, ὀφείλομεν ἡμεῖς οἱ δυνατοὶ τὰ ἀσθενήματα τῶν ἀδυνάτων βαστάζειν καὶ μὴ ἑαυτοῖς ἀρέσκειν. Ἕκαστος ἡμῶν τῷ πλησίον ἀρεσκέτω εἰς τὸ ἀγαθὸν πρὸς οἰκοδομήν καὶ γὰρ ὁ Χριστὸς οὐχ ἑαυτῷ ἤρεσεν ἀλλὰ καθὼς γέγραπται. Οἱ ὀνειδισμοὶ τῶν ὀνειδιζόντων σε ἐπέπεσαν ἐπ' ἐμέ. The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans 15:1-7 Brethren, we who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves; let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to edify him. For Christ did not please himself; but, as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached thee fell on me." For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope. May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

5 ΤΟ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ - THE HOLY GOSPEL Ἐκ τοῦ κατὰ Ματθαῖον 9:27-35 Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ παράγοντι τῷ Ἰησοῦ ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ δύο τυφλοὶ κράζοντες καὶ λέγοντες Ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς, υἱὲ Δαυῒδ. ἐλθόντι δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ τυφλοί, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Πιστεύετε ὅτι δύναμαι τοῦτο ποιῆσαι; λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Ναί, Κύριε. τότε ἥψατο τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτῶν λέγων Κατὰ τὴν πίστιν ὑμῶν γενηθήτω ὑμῖν. καὶ ἀνεῴχθησαν αὐτῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί καὶ ἐνεβριμήσατο αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγων Ὁρᾶτε μηδεὶς γιν ω σκέτω. ο ἱ δὲ ἐξελθ όντες διεφήμισαν αὐτὸν ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ γῇ ἐκείνῃ. Αὐτῶν δ ὲ ἐ ξ ε ρ χ ο μ έ ν ω ν ἰ δοὺ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ ἄνθρωπον κωφὸν δαιμονιζόμενον καὶ ἐκβληθέντος τοῦ δαιμονίου ἐλάλησεν ὁ κωφός. καὶ ἐθαύμασαν οἱ ὄχλοι λέγοντες, Οὐδέποτε ἐφάνη οὕτως ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ. οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι ἔλεγον Ἐν τῷ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια. Καὶ περιῆγεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὰς πόλεις πάσας καὶ τὰς κώμας, διδάσκων ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ κηρύσσων τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς βασιλείας καὶ θεραπεύων πᾶσαν νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν ἐν τῷ λαῷ. According to Matthew 9:1-8 At that time, as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, "Have mercy on us, Son of David." When he entered the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord." Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you." And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly charged them, "See that no one knows it." But they went away and spread his fame through all that district. As they were going away, behold, a dumb demoniac was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the crowds marveled, saying, "Never was anything like this seen in Israel." But the Pharisees said, "He casts out demons by the prince of demons." And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity among the people. FASTING / ΝΗΣΤΕΙΑ As we are in the midst of he Dormition Fast, we observe Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday as strict fast days. The fast is relaxed for Tuesday (FWO) and Saturday (WO) *WO = Wine, Oil Allowed // FWO = Fish, Wine, Oil Allowed

And please always keep Holy Trinity Nursing Home, it s staff, directors, residents, and families in your prayers. HOSPITAL VISITS Due to HIPPAA privacy rules, most hospitals no longer provide a list of Orthodox patients for us to see. Therefore, if you or a loves are, or will be, in the hospital, please contact the church office to arrange a pastoral visit. Also, please notify the office if a friend or family member is in a rehab center, nursing home, assisted living facility, or under hospice care. AUCTION ITEMS It has come to our attention that many parishioners would like to donate items for our Auction Dinner Dance in October. We will have a Silent Auction during the cocktail hour and a Live Auction after dinner. If you have any items of value you would like to donate such as jewelry, sports memorabilia, tickets, etc. please contact Janice Dionis at chandler226@aol.com PROISTAMENOS ASSIGNMENT We are pleased to announce the assignment of Fr. Christopher Stamas as the new proistamenos of our community. Fr Chris has served and led the parish of St. George Cathedral in Springfield, MA for the last 18 years with dedication and vision; we eagerly await his arrival to welcome him and his family to our parish! Both Fr Chris and Fr Nicholas look forward to working together to serve the needs of this holy community. 8 2019 STEWARDSHIP REPORT WEEK 2019 TOTAL PLEDGES RECEIVED 32 $ 184, *As of 08/02/19 AVERAGE $ PER PLEDGE *GOAL STEWARDSHIP BUDGET $473 $300, Our operating budget would require that each family contribute $1,000 in Stewardship in order to meet our operating expenses. *Goal amount includes the 2019 Stewardship Budget Receipts of $300, Funds reflect all monies received in We suggest budgeting your Stewardship contribution as you would your monthly home expenses. Our Cathedral must meet the financial needs of its ministries and annual operating budget by way of our Christian Stewardship Program. It is everyone s responsibility to accept this honor and support our role as a Contributing Steward. Please pledge the Recommended Stewardship Contribution, if you have not done so.
