Please join us for these spiritually uplifting and informative gatherings! To help gain a deeper understanding of the Psalms, Bible study/ Paraklesis on Monday evenings will focus the Psalter (especially for those reading the Psalter) during the Nativity Fast. PROKEIMENON Psalm 67.35,26 God is wonderful among his saints. Verse: Bless God in the congregations. St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 3:23-29; 4:1-5 BRETHREN, before faith came, we were confined under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. So that the law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate; but he is under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. So with us; when we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

5 THE PROCLAMATION OF THE HOLY GOSPEL The Gospel According to Luke 13:10-17 At that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. 7 WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS CHRISTMAS PAGEANT PRACTICE Preschool, Middle School, and High School regular classes! K-6 will meet for rehearsal in the GYM for the Christmas program. GREEK OLYMPIC SOCIETY AND OPERATION FEED The Greek Olympic Society, in conjunction with Operation Feed, will again be involved in providing 150 complete turkey dinners with all the trimmings for very needy families this Christmas. If you would like to make a contribution toward the purchase of the food items, donations will be collected in the Social Hall following Divine Liturgy on December 4 th, 11 th, and 18 th. Also, if you would like to be a project volunteer, (December 21st, from 4-6 p.m. and/or December 22 nd, 9-11 a.m.), you can sign up at the donation table. Thank you for your help. ANNUNCIATION COLLEGE OUTREACH On Thursday, December 8, 2016 our church will welcome all central Ohio college students for a study day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Youth room. Along with a safe and quiet environment snacks and a light lunch will be provided. Concludes with Paraklesis at 5:30 p.m. MISSION NEWS Today we will pass a second tray for our Mission Fund here at the Cathedral. We have adopted a missionary priest, Father Paul Patitsas of New Zealand, and will be sending him a portion of the monies collected with the remaining going to help with mission projects at the Cathedral. Watch for upcoming mission projects involving our youth. ST. Lauren was selected through an audition to be in the cast of BalletMet s Nutcracker. This is Lauren s second year to be in the Nutcracker, and the fourth ballet with The Company. This year Lauren will be a Page in the performances. She is very excited for the performances to begin and looking forward to inspiring people and bringing joy to their holiday. The Nutcracker will run from Dec. 9-24, 2016 at the Ohio Theatre. ORTHODOX MISSION CHURCH IN FIJI We are collecting gently used orthodox children's books to send to Fiji to be used by the Orthodox mission church and the orphans in the community. FIFTY PLUS GROUP The Fifty Plus Group will hold its annual Christmas dinner in the Social Hall on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Musical entertainment is being planned.

9 Youth Ministry GOYA BASKETBALL If you would like to receive notifications about GOYA basketball practice, tournament information, or other GOYA events, please sign up at It will ask for your name, address, and cell phone number. Parents and GOYAns information are welcomed. CALLING ALL MIDDLE SCHOOLERS! This is a time for Giving and we would like to give the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders some time to come together and hangout in the Youth Room (second floor of the church) on Friday, December 16th from 7-9 p.m. Do you know what Good measure, Pressed down, Shaken together, and Running over all have in common? The answer will be revealed at the gathering. Feel free to bring a friend! Come in your festive clothes. We want to see some ugly Christmas sweaters (and yes, we know you have one). Food and drinks will be provided. We will also be putting together a Holiday Help Box organized by Faith Mission. Help Boxes allow Faith Mission to feed hundreds of hungry individuals during the Christmas season. It is an opportunity for us to give thanks for the blessings we ve received this year by giving back to folks who have not been so lucky. Please sign up to bring an item or two to the gathering. THE GIVING TREE GOYA has decided to help the YWCA Family Center during the Christmas season. We would like to invite the whole parish family to join in our efforts to support a worthy cause in our community. If you remember the Giving Tree in years past, we will be doing the same concept. A Christmas tree will be placed outside the Narthex in the hallway. There will be paper ornaments on the tree for people to take as a reminder and the item is listed on the back of the ornament. You do not have to take an ornament to make a donation. The YWCA Holiday Wish List is available in the Narthex. The items do not need to be wrapped, but need to be new. Donations will be accepted starting November 6 th through December 11 th. Items can be placed in the box next to the Giving Tree. Gift cards can be placed in envelope attached to the box or handed to Eve Peratopoulos. The gift cards need to be in amounts of $25. The YWCA Family Center s goal is to get people back on their feet within 20 days. GOYA BIBLE STUDY There will be a GOYA Bible study on Tuesday, January 20, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Location TBA MISSION TRIP 2017 From June 11-16, 2017, we will be in Bayou La Batre, Alabama working as the hands and feet of Christ on the peaceful shores of the Mississippi Sound. The Bayou La Batre community is steeped in heritage and tradition, but it has experienced some of the most devastating disasters in history: Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Gulf Oil Spill in Our work in Bayou La Batre will include serving through painting, cleaning, yard work; and planning and leading programs for area children in the community. The cost of the trip is $399 per person. We will begin fundraising as a group starting in November, but encourage each participant to fund raise individually. We will provide tools to help you reach out to your friends and family. We have 35 spots available for this trip. These spots will go fast. The website is SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL SACK LUNCH PROGRAM The Sunday Church School makes 175 sack lunches for the Open Shelter twice a month. The Shelter serves individuals who are unable to afford basic needs for their families. The Sunday school needs the support of our community to help meet its commitment to the shelter in order to sustain this program. 11 PHILOPTOCHOS Philoptochos is collecting art supplies for CHOICES (A shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence). CHOICES is in need of coloring books, craft paper, crayons, markers, pencils, blunt scissors, etc. Please contact Diane Chakalis at if you would like to donate any of these items. STAR HOUSE serves youths ages 14-24, one of the most vulnerable populations worldwide. It is estimated that 1,200 to 1,500 homeless youths and youths in transition exist in Central Ohio. These youths live directly on the streets or in abandoned buildings, or couch surf among friends homes. Most are disconnected from their families, and all are underserved by communities, left to fend for themselves on the fringes of our society. With limited rights and privacy, they have little access to services and supports needed to survive independently. These youths are at high risk for human trafficking, HIV and Hepatitis C infections, and victimization. In 2014, STAR HOUSE served 724 homeless youth that visited the shelter more than 17,000 times. Star House is a 24/7 drop-in shelter where youth can get food, hygiene items, tents, and other items to help them survive on the streets. We are NOT able to accept items for babies or children with the exception of diapers, wipes, and formula. Please check that clothing donations are in clean condition.
