Then, the people start to leave the beaches, the windsurfing boards are ashore and those who obstinately deny to leave the golden sand drink their last slugs in Pounda as a good warm up for the after The after swim hours in Paros are rush hours for the small port of Naoussa which is the centre of the absolute entertainment. A stroll through the bars of the picturesque port of Naoussa will be enough for you to stay awake till late at night even if you are not a fan of this kind of entertainment. There, the sound becomes louder and draws you each night in an endless fun till morning. Since you enjoy the first cool cocktails, follow the example of the tourists who timidly begin dancing and dance under the sounds of mainstream, pop, R&B, funk, rock, and of course the Greek music. Είναι η στιγμή που οι παραλίες αρχίζουν να αδειάζουν, οι ιστιοσανίδες βγαίνουν στη στεριά και όσοι αρνούνται πεισματικά να αποχωριστούν τη χρυσή άμμο, πίνουν τα τελευταία τους σφηνάκια στην Πούντα, ως μια καλή προθέρμανση για το «μετά» Γιατί οι «μετά μπάνιου» ώρες του 24ωρου στην Πάρο είναι ώρες αιχμής για το μικρό λιμανάκι της Νάουσας, που αποτελεί το κέντρο της απόλυτης διασκέδασης. Ακόμη κι αν δεν αγαπάτε ιδιαίτερα το ξενύχτι και το ποτό, σίγουρα ένα πέρασμα από τα μπαράκια του γραφικού λιμανιού της Νάουσας, θα είναι αρκετό για να σας κρατήσει ξύπνιους ως αργά τη νύχτα. Εκεί κάθε βράδυ τα ντεσιμπέλ δυναμώνουν για να σας παρασύρουν σε ένα πολύωρο γλέντι ως το πρωί. Αφού απολαύσετε τα πρώτα δροσιστικά κοκτέιλ, ακολουθήστε το παράδειγμα των τουριστών, που δειλά δειλά ξεκινούν το χορό και λικνιστείτε κι εσείς κάτω από τους ήχους της mainstream, pop, R&B, funk, rock και φυσικά ελληνικής μουσικής. Όταν η ώρα είναι πια περασμένη και οι αντοχές σας είναι ακόμη αρκετές, προτιμείστε να μην αποσυρθείτε στα δωμάτιά σας. Τα μεγάλα κλαμπ της Νάουσας, έχουν τις πόρτες τους ανοιχτές και υπόσχονται ξέφρενο γλέντι μέχρι τελικής πτώσης. Επειδή όμως για τον μέσο Έλληνα διασκέδαση χωρίς γαρύφαλλο και ζωντανή μουσική δε νοείται, στη Νάουσα θα βρείτε και μπουζούκια, όπου το κέφι απογειώνεται στην πίστα και στα τραπέζια! Αν και η καρδιά της νυχτερινής διασκέδασης χτυπάει στη Νάουσα, αξιόλογη νυχτερινή ζωή θα βρείτε και στην Παροικιά. Στο ανατολικό άκρο της πόλης, δεξιά από το λιμάνι βρίσκεται άλλος ένας παράδεισος για τους clubers, ενώ πολλά γραφικά cafe-bars ενδείκνυνται για όσους από εσάς προτιμούν τον συνδυασμό ποτό - κουβεντούλα. Αν αυτό που επιθυμείτε είναι να χαλαρώσετε πίνοντας το ποτό σας μακριά από τα πολύβουα κοσμοπολίτικα στέκια της Νάουσας και της Παροικιάς, ανακαλύψτε τα ήρεμα σοφιστικέ μπαράκια στο Πίσω Λιβάδι και στην Αλυκή. Μπορεί να μην είναι από τα πιο αγαπημένα της νεολαίας, αυτό όμως αποτελεί πλεονέκτημα για όσους από εσάς ζητάτε έναν εναλλακτικό τρόπο διασκέδασης

In Kolybithres try water ski and wake board while if you wish to sail in the open sea you will have to address to the Sailing Club in Parikia. If you want more sports choices that doesn t include water, you can exercise yourselves by playing tennis in the courts of Chryssi Akti, Kolybithres and a big hotel in Naoussa. To keep your excellent physical condition in shape you may exercise in one of the gyms of Naoussa. In Naoussa you will also have the opportunity to do horse riding and bicycling while in Alyki you can play soccer and basketball in the courts and fields of Aghios Nikolas beach. 4 RECREATION/ΑΝΑΨΥΧΗ Paros the island of the winds By Nikos Kaklamanakis* Paros is absolutely connected with the sport of windsurfing. The first Greek surf club opened here in Santa Maria region in Ιt was transferred at the beach of Nea Chryssi Akti in 1989 and hosted the windsurfing world championship (PWA world cup) in The world championship was successfully organized at the same beach for the next nine years attracting competitors from all over the world. Paros Surf Club organizes the annual Odysseus Crossing Marathon which is a very special windsurfing contest among the islands of the Cyclades. I participated in the first contest in 1991 and the experience was fantastic. Paros is one of my favorite places for practice not only for its perfect sea conditions but also for the friends I have here since my childhood. I am very proud of the fact that the children of my friends have begun to practice and a new generation of surfers gradually makes its appearance at the sea. The windsurfing sport has significantly contributed to the tourism development of Paros as more and Πάρος το νησί των ανέμων Από τον Νίκο Κακλαμανάκη* Nikos Kaklamanakis Η Πάρος είναι απόλυτα συνδεδεμένη με το άθλημα της ιστιοσανίδας. Εδώ άνοιξε το 1984 το πρώτο ελληνικό surf club στην περιοχή της Σάντα Μαρία. Το 1989 μεταφέρθηκε στην παραλία της Νέας Χρυσής Ακτής και το 1993 οργάνωσε το παγκόσμιο επαγγελματικό πρωτάθλημα ιστιοσανίδας. Ο αγώνας αυτός, με συμμετοχές αθλητών από όλα τα μέρη του κόσμου, συνεχίστηκε με απόλυτη επιτυχία για τα επόμενα εννέα χρόνια. Τo Paros Surf Club οργανώνει το ετήσιο «Odysseus Crossing Marathon» έναν πολύ ιδιαίτερο αγώνα ιστιοσανίδας ανάμεσα στα κυκλαδίτικα νησιά. Συμμετείχα στον πρώτο αγώνα που έγινε το 1991 και η εμπειρία ήταν συναρπαστική. Συγκαταλέγεται στα πιο αγαπημένα μου μέρη για προπόνηση γιατί πέρα από τις ιδανικές θαλάσσιες συνθήκες, βρίσκω στο νησί φίλους που έχω μεγαλώσει μαζί τους. Με συγκινεί πολύ το γεγονός ότι έχουν ξεκινήσει τα παιδιά των φίλων να εξασκούνται και σιγά-σιγά εμφανίζεται στην θάλασσα μια καινούργια γενιά σερφιστών. Το άθλημα της ιστιοσανίδας έχει συμβάλει σημαντικά στην τουριστική ανάπτυξη της Πάρου καθώς όλο και περισσότεροι άνθρωποι συνδυάζουν τις διακοπές τους more people combine their holidays with their favorite sport. 7 PRACTICAL INFO Time zone difference Greece is in the Eastern European Time Zone. Eastern European Standard Time (EET) is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2). Like most countries in Europe, Summer (Daylight Saving) time is observed in Greece, where the time is moved forward by 1 hour, 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). After the summer months the time is moved back by 1 hour to Eastern European Time (EET) or (GMT+2). Daylight Savings Time (GMT+3) in Greece begins at 3 a.m. on the last Sunday of March and ends at 4 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. Language The official language is Greek. English is generally understood and spoken in hotels, shops and restaurants, so there are no communication problems. Electrical appliances The electricity supply in Greece is alternating current, volts, 50 cycles. Appliances for 110 or 120 volts may be operated by using step down transformers of /110 volts connected to each outlet. Currency Since the 1st of January 2002, the Euro (EUR) is the currency of Greece. Notes in circulation are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euro while coins are in denominations of 1 euro, 2 euro, 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents and 20 cents. Banks The banks on Paros are open Monday to Thursday and pm on Friday. ATMs are available mainly in Parikia and Naoussa. Most accept Visa and MasterCard as well as debit cards of internationally recognised networks. Telecommunications The international access code for Greece is +30. The outgoing code is 00 followed by the relevant country code (e.g. 001 for the USA or Canada, 0044 for the United Kingdom). Calls can be made from your hotel or from OTE (Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation) offices in Parikia. Public phone card booths are available all over the island and cards can be bought from kiosks, mini markets and OTE. Mobile Telecommunications The local mobile phone operators (Vodafone, Wind, Cosmote and Q-Telecom) use GSM networks and have roaming agreements with most international operators. Tipping Tipping is acceptable in Greece. Like everywhere, a tip will open many doors and generate many smiles. Have your own experience and reward outstanding service

Regional infirmaries also operate in the most of the villages. Apart from Parikia and Naoussa, you will also find pharmacies in Marpissa, Lefkes and Alyki. Apart from the classical medicines, you will find a great variety of homeopathy, plant therapy and aromatherapy medicines in Athanassios Sypsas pharmacy store in the central square of Naoussa. The pharmacy also offers you its services in English, French, Italian and German. Water Bottled water is recommended for drinking, while tap water can be used for bathing and cleaning your teeth. Transportation The central taxi station is in Parikia, 150 meters east of the port. You will be picked up from any place of the island with just one phone call. Indicatively you will have to pay 10 in order to go from Parikia to Naoussa, 8 from Parikia to Pounda (of Antiparos) and 4 from Naoussa to Kolybithres. You can also use the local bus transportation network (KTEL) with daily itineraries to almost every corner of the island. Σύψα στην κεντρική πλατεία της Νάουσας εκτός από τα κλασικά φάρμακα μπορείτε να βρείτε μεγάλη ποικιλία σκευασμάτων ομοιοπαθητικής, φυτοθεραπείας και αρωματοθεραπείας. Νερό Το νερό της βρύσης είναι κατάλληλο για μπάνιο και πλύσιμο δοντιών, αλλά συνίσταται να πίνετε εμφιαλωμένο νερό. Μετακινήσεις Η κεντρική πιάτσα των ταξί είναι στην Παροικιά 150 μ. ανατολικά του λιμανιού. Με ένα τηλεφώνημα σας παραλαμβάνουν από οποιοδήποτε μέρος του νησιού. Ενδεικτικά για να μεταφερθείτε από την Παροικιά στη Νάουσα θα πληρώσετε 10, από την Παροικιά στην Πούντα (Αντιπάρου) 8 και από τη Νάουσα στις Κολυμπήθρες 4. Μπορείτε όμως να χρησιμοποιήσετε και τα ΚΤΕΛ που εκτελούν καθημερινά δρομολόγια σχεδόν σε κάθε γωνιά του νησιού. Η αφετηρία των ΚΤΕΛ είναι στην Πα

Naoussa is connected to Parikia on a 24 hour basis during the crowded months (July - August), while the last itineraries from Parikia to Alyki and from Parikia to Dryos are at 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. respectively.
