Hasker Morris, a certified trainer, is on hand for the one hour session. All parishioners and friends are welcome. 150 TH ANNIVERSARY ITEMS The 150th Anniversary Documentary DVD is available for $20 and may be purchased after Divine Liturgy on Sunday or during the week from the Cathedral office. A two DVD set of the October 12, 2014, Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and Celebration Banquet will be available shortly. You may contact Barbara Wolf at regarding either item. Two Saturday of Souls services remain February 21 and 28. Forms are in the Narthex. DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE The next Daughters Membership meeting will be Sunday, February 22, following the Divine Liturgy. The Chapter will celebrate its 78th Anniversary, founded February 26, Events, activities, and charity programs for 2015 will be discussed. Please plan to attend. GREEK FESTIVAL PASTRY WORKSHOPS Due to Mardi Gras, there is only one Greek Festival Pastry Workshop this week. Please come help on Wednesday, February 18, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Lunch is provided. HTC YOUTH SOCCER SESSIONS Soccer enthusiasts will be happy to hear that the spring sessions for HTC Youth Soccer will begin Friday, February 27, at 5:30 pm. SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCHEON FEBRUARY 19 Senior Citizens are invited to the next Senior Citizens Luncheon on Thursday, February 19, at 11:30 am in the Coffee Room. Sincere appreciation is extended to Barbara Stavis Wolf for sponsoring the luncheon in memory of Gladys and William Stavis and Richard Wolf, as well as to an anonymous donor. The members look forward to having all seniors at this next luncheon. Make plans now to come and enjoy a delicious meal and have fun playing bingo. HTC COMMUNITY WIDE FOOD DRIVE Philoptochos is sponsoring an HTC Community wide food drive. The holidays are over, but hunger is not. Please bring food items to help the needy families within our community. The most needed items are canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat (tuna, chicken, beef), canned soup, cereal, pasta, and rice. There is a collection bin in the Coffee Room. 2 PTA SOUPER FUNDRAISER Holy Trinity PTA is hosting its annual Lenten Soup Fundraiser. Today, February 15, is the last day to place orders for the six delicious soups that are sold in quart size containers. Contact Chairperson Vicki McCallef at or to place your order, which will be picked up and paid for next Sunday, February 22, after church services. All proceeds will benefit the PTA. Message from Father George In the Early Centuries of the Church, the faithful Christians were expecting the return of the Lord within their lifetime. This is a concept that the Christians of today never took on as their own. The early Christians lived their lives as if the Second Coming of the Lord was imminent; we live our lives assured that He has not returned in the 2015 years of Christian history, surely He is not returning in my lifetime. This mindset leads to our diluted notion that we can put off the important Spiritual things until tomorrow. There is indeed no time better than the present for our Christian Spiritual life. In another week we will be embraced by the beginning of Great Lent for another year. It is a time for us to examine our hearts and our Spiritual growth. One question we might ask ourselves is: Have I grown closer to Christ since we celebrated Holy Pascha last year? As a Christian, this is one of the many ideals that we should hold high in our lives - to achieve a closeness to God through a relationship with His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, by the Grace of the Holy Spirit. Great Lent is a time for us to look into ourselves and recognize what might be cluttering our Spiritual Lives and inhibiting our Spiritual growth. It is a time to enter into some Spiritual exercises, which will help us in our growth. Those exercises include attending the Church services, reading our Bibles with more regularity and purpose, and praying - perhaps more deeply than ever before. Also included in these exercises is reaching out to those in need to offer charity in what is known as almsgiving. As we begin the period of Great Lent this year, may we enjoy the rich blessings of the Lord through these exercises, and through these blessings may we see growth in our Spiritual life allowing us to grow closer to Christ and our brothers and sisters in Christ. Meatfare Sunday, also called Sunday of the Last Judgment Today is called Meatfare Sunday because it is the last day meat or poultry is eaten before Easter for those keeping the Lenten Fast. It is also called Sunday of the Last Judgment, which refers to the Gospel lesson (Matthew 25:31-46) in which the Lord tells us that we shall be judged at the end according to the love we have shown for our brother.

THE EPISTLE I Corinthians 8:8-13; 9:1-2 Brethren, food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. Only take care lest this liberty of yours somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. For if anyone sees you, a man of knowledge, at a table in an idol's temple, might he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? And so by your knowledge this weak man is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. Thus, sinning against your brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food is a cause of my brother's falling, I will never eat meat, lest I cause my brother to fall. Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not you my workmanship in the Lord? If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. THE GOSPEL Matthew 25:31-46 The Lord said, "When the Son of man comes in his glory and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. Then the king will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?' Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.' And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
