ABSTRACT : Due to the compulsory application of Eurocode 7 (Part 1) in all European countries starting on 10 March 2010, it is now imperative for the greek geotechnical engineers to be informed on the upcoming changes and their consequences in geotechnical design. The application of EN 1997-1 requires certain "national selections" (to be included in the National Annex of EN 1997-1 ), the most important of which is the selection of the national Design Approach among the three alternative procedures recommended in EN 1997-1.
