ARTOCLASIA AND HURRICANE KATRINA COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE DEDICATION Today, Sunday, November 22, 2015, the parish is commemorating the Tenth Anniversary of the "Rebirth" of Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Hellenic Cultural Center, which followed the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. A commemorative plaque will be dedicated after an Artoclasia is offered for the health and well being of all parishioners. Many individuals and organizations made huge strides to restore the facilities at a time when parishioners needed both financial and spiritual help to cope with the unprecedented disaster. This season of Thanksgiving is an appropriate time to give thanks to all, who helped the community recover, and to pray for continued growth of its ministries. In appreciation of their efforts, Project Coordinator Nick Moustoukas, MD, and John Georges will recognize those instrumental in the restoration. GOYA COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CARD GOYA is sponsoring its Annual Community Christmas Card. This fundraiser offers parishioners the opportunity to share Christmas greetings in a communal card. Proceeds will be used for various spiritual, service, social, and athletic activities. To be included, simply visit the GOYA table in the gymnasium after church services today to complete a form. Or, you may mail it to the Cathedral office with your check for $20 made payable to HOLY TRINITY GOYA. Deadline is December 6, 2015. For your convenience an order form is enclosed in this bulletin. PHILOPTOCHOS THANKSGIVING BASKETS Thank you to all whose donations helped support a family at Thanksgiving. The baskets will be delivered before Thanksgiving. This month at the Senior Citizens Luncheon the table decorations had a dual purpose. Attendees brought nonperishable food items for the baskets on the tables, and the collected food was distributed to needy families. SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCHEON ON DECEMBER 10 Seniors are invited to the next Senior Citizens Luncheon on December 10 sponsored by the Helen and Charles Malachias and Family in memory of Chrisi and Louis Malachias and Bill Malachias. Chairperson Ginny Zissis is planning a delicious Christmas dinner and a fun time with live music. FUNDRAISING FOR THE SAINT NICHOLAS SHRINE The Ladies Philoptochos members accepted the challenge to raise funds to assist with the rebuilding of the Saint Nicholas National Shrine at the World Trade Center. In turn, they invite the Holy Trinity Cathedral family to join them in a loving tribute to St. Nicholas on the saint s feast day, Sunday, December 6, by offering a donation toward the St. Nicholas National Shrine Project. They also issue a special invitation to all communicants named for St. Nicholas to show their support by serving as honorary ushers and by passing a special tray on that Sunday. PASTRY WORKSHOPS The Daughters of Penelope workshops will take place Tuesday, December 1; Wednesday, December 2; and Thursday, December 3, at the Hellenic Cultural Center, beginning at 9:30 am each day. Please come out and help prepare the pastries and boxes for the annual Pastry Sale. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Message from Father George ORTHODOX THANKSGIVING IS DAILY As Orthodox Christians we are encouraged to live our Faith every moment of every day. A number of years ago in his Thanksgiving message Archbishop Demetrios wrote: The witness of thanksgiving is offered first and foremost through our worship and, specifically, through the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Not only does the word eucharist mean 'to give thanks,' but it is an affirmation that this is a 'Sacrament of Thanksgiving' it is an event of worship, grace, and communion with God imbued with a spirit of thankfulness. Keeping this in mind as we prepare to receive the Eucharist through our spiritual exercises: fasting, daily scripture reading, daily prayer, and reaching out in charity, may we do so with a spirit of thanksgiving. For the long distance runner, the days of preparation are grueling, but the euphoria of the finish line is so uplifting. As Orthodox Christians when we prepare for Holy Communion, it may seem as difficult as the runner preparing for the marathon, but the blessings of the Grace of God that we receive though our Communion with Him can lift us up to heights far above the experience of the athlete. And, this spiritual high is sustained in our lives by our daily spiritual exercises. We must live our lives with the attitude of thanksgiving to God every day, not just on the one day our Nation recognizes for this purpose. When we give thanks to God, we show our gratitude for the great gift of His Grace. The Archbishop reminds us that as we: affirm this attitude of thanksgiving... it characterizes the life in Christ each and every day. Giving thanks to God, showing our gratitude to Him for His love, is both an act and an attitude that offers a continuous witness to the world of the power of saving faith. I pray that each of us may enjoy the wonderful blessings of the national celebration of the Thanksgiving Day. Further, I pray that the joy that is experienced on this one day, may fill our hearts with thanksgiving to God for His Grace and the many blessings that we receive. And, when we return to the Cup of Life - the Holy Eucharist, may we do so with the Fear of God, with Faith and Love, and above all a thankful heart and spirit. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15 ATTENDANCE 170 ~ CANDLE AND TRAY COLLECTIONS $647

Resurrectional Apolytikion Plagal Tone 4 You descended from on high, O compassionate One, and condescended to be buried for three days, so that from the passions You might set us free. Our life and resurrection, O Lord, glory be to You. Apolytikion of the Entrance of the Theotokos Tone 4 Today is the prelude of God's good will and the heralding of the salvation of mankind. In the temple of God, the Virgin is presented openly, and she proclaimeth Christ unto all. To her, then, with a great voice let us cry aloud: Rejoice, O thou fulfilment of the Creator's dispensation. Apolytikion of the Holy Trinity Plagal Tone 4 Blessed are You, O Christ our God, who made fishermen all-wise, sending upon them the Holy Spirit and, through them, netting the world. O Loving One, glory to You. Kontakion Tone 4 Today, the most pure temple of the Savior, the precious bridal chamber and Virgin, the sacred treasure of God, enters the house of the Lord, bringing the grace of the Divine Spirit. The Angels of God praise her. She is the heavenly tabernacle.
THE EPISTLE Ephesians 4:1-7 Make your vows to the Lord our God and perform them. God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel. BRETHREN, I, a prisoner for the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. THE GOSPEL Luke 12:16-21 The Lord said this parable: "The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." As he said these things, he cried out: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
