We are honored that you have chosen to worship with us today. It is our hope that your visit here will bring you many blessings from God. Please be sure to tell us if you are visiting or if you are new to our community. Our Church Family worships the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and every Sunday, the Lord s Day, we commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to live the Holy Gospel in accordance with the Orthodox Faith; towards sanctification through God s grace in worship, the Divine Liturgy and the Sacraments: glorifying God through all joys and struggles; and as a Church Community, in Christian love, we seek to do His will so that through His mercy, we may attain His Kingdom. We are blessed to have the slippers of St. Spyridon, which are located in the narthex of the Church, please be sure to venerate them. We pray you have a blessed day and that you visit with us again soon. Also, please remember that one must be an Orthodox Christian in order to receive Holy Communion. If you would like to embrace the Orthodox Faith, please see Father Dimitrios Moraitis. May God Bless you! Entrance Hymns Apolytikion Angelic powers were above Thy tomb, and they that guarded Thee became as dead. And Mary stood by the grave seeking Thine immaculate Body. Thou hast despoiled Hades and wast not tried thereby. Thou didst meet the Virgin and didst grant us life. O Thou Who didst arise from the dead, Lord, glory be to Thee. For The Memorials Keep Thy servants in remembrance, O Lord, since Thou art good; and do Thou forgive every sin in this life; for no man is without sin, except for Thee Who art able to grant rest even unto him who has departed hence. Saint Spyridon Father, God-bearer, Spyridon, you were proven a champion and Wonder Worker of the First Ecumenical Council. You spoke to the girl in the grave and turned the serpent to gold. And, when chanting your prayers, most sacred One, angels ministered with you. Glory to Him who glorified you; glory to Him who crowned you; glory to Him who, through you, works healing for all. Kontakion Your birth sanctified a Virgin's womb and properly blessed the hands of Symeon. Having now come and saved us O Christ our God, give peace to Your commonwealth in troubled times and strengthen those in authority, whom You love, as only the loving One

ΤΗΕ EPISTLE St. Paul's First Letter to Timothy 4:9-15 O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance. Verse: To you, O Lord, I have cried, O my God. TIMOTHY, my son, the saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Till I come, attend to the public reading of scripture, to preaching, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophetic utterance when the council of elders laid their hands upon you. Practice these duties, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress.

THE HOLY GOSPEL 15th Sunday of Luke The Gospel according to Luke 19:1-10 At that time, Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man named Zacchaios; he was a chief collector, and rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaios, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today." So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it they all murmured, "He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner." And Zacchaios stood and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold." And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost." Fasting / Νηστεία Normal fasting rules apply.

KICKOFF PRESENTATION FOR THE "BURN THE MORTGAGE" CAMPAIGN WILL TAKE PLACE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING DIVINE LITURGY ON JANUARY 29th. Burn the Mortgage Campaign Saint Spyridon Cathedral is officially launching a "Burn the Mortgage Campaign" with the goal of freeing the Cathedral from all mortgage debt by 2020. The renovation of the Family Center has received accolades from our Parishioners and the Worcester Community as a whole resulting in a facility with which we can be proud. It has become a gathering place for our Youth, Ministries, and Parishioners. The cost of the Family Center renovation was $4.1M with $2.65M donated by our parishioners in the first fund drive. The remaining balance of $1.45M is held in a mortgage requiring a payment of $10,230 per month to the bank. This payment is significantly limiting the ability of the Cathedral to provide ministries to our Parish of 750 families. Note that the Endowment Fund principle cannot be used to make these payments as the donations were made on the condition that the funds donated could not be touched, only the interest portion. In the first fund drive, the Family Center Capital Campaign, only 30% of the Parish donated, we need everyone to participate to "Burn the Mortgage" by 2020. To do so we have developed three tiers for giving which will allow everyone in the Parish to donate. The Campaign's goal is to have 50 families donate $5,000 a year for three years; 100 families to donate $1,000 a year for three years; and all remaining families to donate $333 a year for three years. As of this mailing, we would like to thank the 12 families who have already pledged to donate $5,000 a year for three years! In early 2017 the "Angel Board" will be constructed naming and honoring all contributors to the Burn the Mortgage and Family Center Capital Campaigns. The Angel Board will be constructed on the wall outside the Tonna Room adjacent to the mosaic of Saint Spyridon. The Honorary Chair of the Campaign is Rev. Dr. Dimitrios Moraitis. Campaign Chairman is Demitrios Moschos. Dr. Matthew Panagiotu, Georgia Parafestas and Celeste Moschos are Co- Chairs for the $15,000 level; Dimitrios Vasiliadis, Nicholas Paleologos and Michael Dionis are Co- Chairs for the $3,000 level, the $1,000 level, and collection of prior pledges. Please help your Church to be free of debt, as our forefathers did when they built the Church and Community Center. Rev. Dr. Dimitrios Moraitis Demitrios Moschos Georgia Parafestas Dean Chairman Parish Council President & Co-Chair

ST. SPYRIDON GREEK ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL BURN THE MORTGAGE CAMPAIGN Total Cost of Family Center Renovation $4,100,000.00 Total raised by our community during first fund drive $2,650,000.00 Remaining Loan Balance to be paid $1,450,000.00 3 Year Pledge Amount Annually Monthly $15,000 $5,000 $416 $3,000 $1,000 $83 $1,000 $333 $28 How Much Should I Give? This is a question every one of us must answer individually and with our heart. A goal of this magnitude cannot be realized without your generosity and unity. We are asking everyone from our parish and community to participate at any level. No donation is too small nor too large. Little by little we will achieve this daunting task and be rid of this financial burden. Please consider a tax deductible pledge today. Thank you and may God bless you. Proverbs 3.9 Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.

The blessing of our homes with the Holy Water of Epiphany is a meaningful way to begin the New Year. This beautiful tradition of our Orthodox Church allows us to start the year off in a most holy way by sanctifying our homes -the place where we spend most of our time. Please have an icon, a list of the living members of your family, a bowl as well as a spring of Basil or some other plant. We will bring the holy water, the cross and a copy of the service so you can follow along. The following days and times are available for house blessings. We ask that you please contact your neighbors to find a day and a block of time that satisfies all of you. For instance, you should contact your neighbors that live on your block, as well as other parishioners who live within a mile of your home, and schedule them either before or after your blessing. This will help us tremendously, especially since there are so many families, and we are still getting to know the neighborhoods around the Church. Please remember to allow at least 30 minutes for each house blessing. These dates are on a first come first serve basis. Contact the Church office to book your time. The available dates and times are as follows: Monday, January 23 9:00pm-9:00pm Tuesday, January 24, 11:00am-6:00pm Wednesday, January 25 11:00am-6:00pm Thursday, January 26, 9:00am-9:00pm Friday, January 27, 9:00pm-9:00pm Saturday, January 28, 9:00am-9:00pm Call the Church office to Make your appointment! 508-791-7326
