Dismissal Hymns Mode 1 When the stone had been sealed by the Jews, and the soldiers were guarding Your immaculate body, You rose on the third day, O Savior, granting to the world life; and when the powers of heaven, cried out to You O Giver of Life. Glory to Your resurrection O Christ, glory to your Kingdom, glory to Your dispensation, O lover of mankind. Mode 4 Today mark s the crow ning of our salvation and the revelation of the mystery before all ages. For the Son of God becomes the son of the Virgin, and Gabriel proclaims the grace. Wherefore, we also cry out with him, "Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you. Kontakion Mode 1. You sanctified the virginal womb by Your birth, O Lord, and blessed the hands of Symeon fittingly, O Christ God; and even now You came and saved us. Now, give peace to our Nation in time of war, and empower our Leaders, so loved by You, the only one who loves humanity. The blind man was not able to see the Lord when he came near to him. He had no one to guide him. Yet he tried to come near to him. Such is the nature of a resolute soul. It is borne up by the very things that hinder it. St. John Chrysostom
Timothy, my son, the saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the foremost of sinners; but I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display His perfect patience for an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal life. To the King of Ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory to the ages of ages. Amen. At that time, as Jesus drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging; and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant. They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." And he cried, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" And Jesus stopped, and commanded him to be brought to him; and when he came near, he asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, let me receive my sight." And Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. Learn this, beloved. Though we may be very vile and outcast, yet when we approach God with utter earnestness, we come closer to what we ask for. Just look at this man. He does not have any of the apostles to plead for him. Instead, here is the crowd trying to shut him up, telling him to be silent. Yet he was able to overcome all these obstacles and come to Jesus himself. Yet the Evangelist does not attest to any faith in him but only to his importunity. His earnestness sufficed above all other factors. St. John Chrysostom

It indeed was usual with him on many occasions that he first sought to discover all the highest moral excellences of one he was healing and only then to apply the cure. He did this in order that he might lead others to emulate their good qualities and that he might show that they were receiving the gift of healing in a worthy manner. He did this, for instance, in the case of the Canaanite woman, and also in the case of the centurion and with the woman suffering from bleeding. We especially remember that this marvelous woman even anticipated the Lord s inquiry. But recall that he did not pass her by. Even after her healing he kept looking around to see who had done it. Such earnest care he had on every occasion. He wished to make known the good qualities of those who came to him and to show them to be much greater than they are. This he also does here. It is the end for which he came into the world. Even though it is filled with mercy and grace, it seeks worthy recipients. St. John Chrysostom

Venerable Xenia of Rome Saint Xenia of Rome, in the world Eusebia, was the only daughter of an eminent Roman senator. From her youth she loved God, and wished to avoid the marriage arranged for her. She secretly left her parental home with two servants devoted to her, and set sail upon a ship. Through the Providence of God she met the head of the monastery of the holy Apostle Andrew in Milassa, a town of Caria (Asia Minor). She besought him to take her and her companions to Milassa. She also changed her name, calling herself Xenia [which means stranger or foreigner in Greek]. At Milassa she bought land, built a church dedicated to St Stephen, and founded a woman s monastery. Soon after this, Bishop Paul of Milassa made Xenia a deaconess, because of her virtuous Ἡ Ἁγία Ξένη Ἡ Ἁγία Ξένη καταγόταν ἀπὸ τὴ Ρώμη καὶ ἀπὸ γενιὰ τιμημένη καὶ εὔπορη. The saint helped everyone: for the destitute, she was a benefactress; for the grief-stricken, a comforter; for sinners, a guide to repentance. She possessed a deep humility, accounting herself the worst and most sinful of all. In her ascetic deeds she was guided by the counsels of the Palestinian ascetic, St Euthymius. The sublime life of St Xenia drew many souls to Christ. The holy virgin died in 450 while she was praying. During her funeral, a luminous wreath of stars surrounding a radiant cross appeared over the monastery in the heavens. This sign accompanied the body of the saint when it was carried into the city, and remained until the saint s burial. Many of the sick received healing after touching the relics of the saint.
