A stroll through the bars of the picturesque port of Naoussa will be enough for you to stay awake till late at night even if you are not a fan of this kind of entertainment. There, the sound becomes louder and draws you each night in an endless fun till morning. Since you enjoy the first cool cocktails, follow the example of the tourists who timidly begin dancing and dance under the sounds of mainstream, pop, R&B, funk, rock, and of course the Greek music. Ακόμη κι αν δεν αγαπάτε ιδιαίτερα το ξενύχτι και το ποτό, σίγουρα ένα πέρασμα από τα μπαράκια του γραφικού λιμανιού της Νάουσας, θα είναι αρκετό για να σας κρατήσει ξύπνιους ως αργά τη νύχτα. Εκεί κάθε βράδυ τα ντεσιμπέλ δυναμώνουν για να σας παρασύρουν σε ένα πολύωρο γλέντι ως το πρωί. Αφού απολαύσετε τα πρώτα δροσιστικά κοκτέιλ, ακολουθήστε το παράδειγμα των τουριστών, που δειλά δειλά ξεκινούν το χορό και λικνιστείτε κι εσείς κάτω από τους ήχους της mainstream, pop, R&B, funk, rock και φυσικά ελληνικής μουσικής. Όταν η ώρα είναι πια περασμένη και οι αντοχές σας είναι ακόμη αρκετές, προτιμήστε να μην αποσυρθείτε στα δωμάτιά σας. Τα μεγάλα clubs της Νάουσας, έχουν τις πόρτες τους ανοιχτές και υπόσχονται ξέφρενο γλέντι μέχρι τελικής πτώσης. Επειδή όμως για τον μέσο Έλληνα διασκέδαση χωρίς γαρίφαλο και ζωντανή μουσική δε νοείται, στη Νάουσα θα βρείτε και μπουζούκια, όπου το κέφι απογειώνεται στην πίστα και στα τραπέζια! Αν και η καρδιά της νυχτερινής διασκέδασης χτυπάει στη Νάουσα, αξιόλογη νυχτερινή ζωή θα βρείτε και στην Παροικιά. Στο ανατολικό άκρο της πόλης, δεξιά από το λιμάνι, βρίσκεται άλλος ένας παράδεισος για τους clubers, ενώ πολλά γραφικά cafe-bars ενδείκνυνται για όσους από εσάς προτιμούν τον συνδυασμό ποτό - κουβεντούλα. Αν αυτό που επιθυμείτε είναι να χαλαρώσετε πίνοντας το ποτό σας μακριά από τα πολύβουα κοσμοπολίτικα στέκια της Νάουσας και της Παροικιάς, ανακαλύψτε τα ήρεμα σοφιστικέ μπαράκια στο Πίσω Λιβάδι και στην Αλυκή. To keep your excellent physical condition in shape you may exercise in one of the gyms of Naoussa. In Naoussa you will finally have the opportunity to do horse riding and bicycling while in Alyki you can play soccer and basketball in the courts and fields of Aghios Nikolas beach. RECREATION/ΑΝΑΨΥΧΗ Paros: the island of winds By Nikos Kaklamanakis* Paros is linked entirely to the sport of windsurfing. The first Greek surf club opened here in the area of Santa Maria in 1984. Ιn 1989 the club was transferred to the beach of Nea Chryssi Akti and in 1993 it hosted the windsurfing PWA world cup. This event had been successfully organized for the next nine years attracting athletes from all over the world. Paros Surf Club organizes the annual Odysseus Crossing Marathon event, which is a very special windsurfing contest taking place among the Cyclades islands. I participated in the first contest in 1991 and it was an exciting experience. Paros is one of my favourite places for practice, as the sea conditions are perfect and I can also meet my childhood friends. I am very proud of the fact that my friends children have started windsurfing and a new generation of surfers is gradually making its appearance in the sea. Windsurfing has significantly contributed to the tourism development of Paros, as more and more people combine their holidays with their favourite sport. I am very optimistic about the tourism potential of Paros and I hope that the island will continue to enhance the strong bonds with surf. * Nikos Kaklamanakis, Olympic Gold medallist and Mistral World Champion Πάρος: το νησί των ανέμων Από τον Νίκο Κακλαμανάκη* Η Πάρος είναι απόλυτα συνδεδεμένη με το άθλημα της ιστιοσανίδας. Εδώ άνοιξε το 1984 το πρώτο ελληνικό surf club στην περιοχή της Σάντα Μαρία. Το 1989 μεταφέρθηκε στην παραλία της Νέας Χρυσής Ακτής και το 1993 οργάνωσε το παγκόσμιο επαγγελματικό πρωτάθλημα ιστιοσανίδας. Ο αγώνας αυτός, με συμμετοχές αθλητών από όλα τα μέρη του κόσμου, συνεχίστηκε με απόλυτη επιτυχία για τα επόμενα εννέα χρόνια. Τo Paros Surf Club οργανώνει το ετήσιο «Odysseus Crossing Marathon» έναν πολύ ιδιαίτερο αγώνα ιστιοσανίδας ανάμεσα στα κυκλαδίτικα νησιά. Συμμετείχα στον πρώτο αγώνα που έγινε το 1991 και η εμπειρία ήταν συναρπαστική. Συγκαταλέγεται στα πιο αγαπημένα μου μέρη για προπόνηση, γιατί πέρα από τις ιδανικές θαλάσσιες συνθήκες, βρίσκω στο νησί φίλους που έχω μεγαλώσει μαζί τους. Με συγκινεί πολύ το γεγονός ότι έχουν ξεκινήσει τα παιδιά των φίλων να εξασκούνται και σιγά-σιγά εμφανίζεται στην θάλασσα μια καινούργια γενιά σερφιστών. Το άθλημα της ιστιοσανίδας έχει συμβάλει σημαντικά στην τουριστική ανάπτυξη της Πάρου καθώς όλο και περισσότεροι άνθρωποι συνδυάζουν τις διακοπές τους με το αγαπημένο τους σπορ. The roads are in excellent condition and the tracks meet safety standards. In Kolybithres, you can enjoy the water slides, while the children can have a great deal of fun at the playgrounds of our island. In the Abelas area, you can take cooking or zen classes, management seminars, Tai-Chi classes, massages, yoga as well as horse-riding lessons, for all age groups. Banks The banks on Paros are open 08.00-14.30 Monday to Thursday and 08.00-14.00 pm on Friday. ATMs are available mainly in Parikia and Naoussa. Most accept Visa and MasterCard as well as debit cards of internationally recognised networks. Telecommunications The international access code for Greece is +30. The outgoing code is 00 followed by the relevant country code (e.g. 001 for the USA or Canada, 0044 for the United Kingdom). Calls can be made from your hotel or from OTE (Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation) offices in Parikia. Public phone card booths are available all over the island and cards can be bought from kiosks, mini markets and OTE. Mobile Telecommunications The local mobile phone operators (Vodafone, Wind, Cosmote and Q-Telecom) use GSM networks and have roaming agreements with most international operators. PRACTICAL INFO/ΠΡΑΚΤΙΚΕΣ ΠΛΗΡΟΦΟΡΙΕΣ Health In case you face a health problem you can visit the Paros Health Centre (tel.: 2284360000) or one of the private doctors of the island. Regional infirmaries also operate in the most of the villages. Apart from Parikia and Naoussa, you will also find pharmacies in Marpissa, Lefkes and Alyki. Water Tap water is safe for drinking, bathing and cleaning your teeth. Transportation The central taxi station is in Parikia, 150 meters east of the port. You will be picked up from any place of the island with just one phone call. Indicatively you will have to pay 10 in order to go from Parikia to Naoussa, 8-10 from Parikia to Pounda (of Antiparos) and 6-7 from Naoussa to Kolybithres. You can also use the local bus transportation network (KTEL) with daily itineraries to almost every corner of the island. The bus station is in Parikia, almost opposite of the taxi station, and in very close distance from the port. Naoussa is connected to Parikia on a 24 hour basis during the crowded months (July - August). The ticket price is from 1,40 to 2,50 euro depending on the route, while there is a discount for students and for families with many children. Transportation to Antiparos Antiparos is connected with Pounda by boat. The route takes only ten minutes and the ferry boats depart daily every 30 minutes until 18.30 and every 1 hour after 18.30. The first itinerary from Pounda to Antiparos is at 07.15 a.m. and the last one at 1.30 a.m. (2.30 am during August). The ticket price is 1, while the price for the car is 6. Στα περισσότερα χωριά του νησιού λειτουργούν και περιφερειακά ιατρεία. Φαρμακεία εκτός από την Παροικιά και την Νάουσα θα βρείτε επίσης στη Μάρπησσα, στις Λεύκες και στην Αλυκή. Νερό Το νερό της βρύσης είναι πόσιμο και κατάλληλο για μπάνιο και πλύσιμο δοντιών. Μετακινήσεις Η κεντρική πιάτσα των ταξί είναι στην Παροικιά 150 μ. ανατολικά του λιμανιού. Με ένα τηλεφώνημα σας παραλαμβάνουν από οποιοδήποτε μέρος του νησιού. Ενδεικτικά για να μεταφερθείτε από την Παροικιά στη Νάουσα θα πληρώσετε 10, από την Παροικιά στην Πούντα (Αντιπάρου) 8-10 και από τη Νάουσα στις Κολυμπήθρες 6-7. Μπορείτε όμως να χρησιμοποιήσετε και τα ΚΤΕΛ που εκτελούν καθημερινά δρομολόγια σχεδόν σε κάθε γωνιά του νησιού. Η αφετηρία των ΚΤΕΛ είναι στην Παροικιά σχεδόν απέναντι από την πιάτσα των ταξί, σε πολύ κοντινή απόσταση από το λιμάνι. Τους μήνες αιχμής (Ιούλιο - Αύγουστο) η Νάουσα με την Παροικιά συνδέεται σε 24ωρη βάση. Η τιμή του εισιτηρίου κυμαίνεται από 1,40-2,50 ανάλογα με τη διαδρομή, ενώ υπάρχει έκπτωση για φοιτητές και πολύτεκνους. Μετάβαση στην Αντίπαρο Η Αντίπαρος συνδέεται ακτοπλοϊκά με την Πούντα. Η διαδρομή διαρκεί μόλις δέκα λεπτά και τα φέρι μποτ αναχωρούν καθημερινά κάθε 30 λεπτά μέχρι τις 18.30 και μετά κάθε μία ώρα. Το πρώτο δρομολόγιο από Πούντα για Αντίπαρο είναι στις 07.15 το πρωί και το τελευταίο στη 1.30 τη νύχτα (2.30 τον Αύγουστο). Η τιμή του εισιτηρίου είναι 1, ενώ για το αυτοκίνητό σας θα πληρώσετε 6.
