ΥΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΑΙΓΙΔΑ ΤΟΥ ΠΡΟΕΔΡΟΥ ΤΗΣ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑΣ ΓΕΝΙΚΗ ΕΦΟΡΕΙΑ ΕΠΕΙΓΟΥΣΑ Αθήνα, 16/09/2010 ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΣΗ 110 ΑΠΟ ΠΡΟΣ : Εφορεία Διεθνών Σχέσεων Εφορεία Εκπαιδεύσεως : Όλους τους Βαθμοφόρους ΘΕΜΑ : The Academy 2010 - Αθήνα, 26-31 Οκτωβρίου 2010 Αγαπητοί μου, Μετά την επιτυχία που σημείωσε η εφαρμογή του νέου εκπαιδευτικού θεσμού της «Προσκοπικής Ακαδημίας» (Scout Academy) το 2008 και το 2009, διοργανώνεται φέτος για τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά η Academy 2010 στην Αθήνα. Ο θεσμός της Ακαδημίας αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό εκπαιδευτικό εργαλείο της Ευρωπαϊκής Προσκοπικής Περιοχής. Είναι ένας ευέλικτος διαθεματικός κύκλος εκπαίδευσης ανοικτός σε ενεργούς Βαθμοφόρους από όλη την Ευρώπη, ο οποίος φέτος καλύπτει ενδιαφέρουσες θεματικές ενότητες οι οποίες αφορούν σχεδόν κάθε πτυχή της Προσκοπικής δραστηριότητας. Στόχος της Ακαδημίας είναι η παρουσίαση καινοτόμων προσεγγίσεων, γνώσεων και εμπειριών στην πράξη με χρήση νέων μεθοδολογιών, με αλληλοενημέρωση και ενεργό συμμετοχή, μέσω κύκλων συμβουλευτικής, δίνοντας παράλληλα την ευκαιρία στους συμμετέχοντες, να παρουσιάσουν ελεύθερα και οι ίδιοι τις δικές τους ιδέες που εφαρμόζουν στα Τμήματα ή στις Προσκοπικές τους Οργανώσεις. Η Ακαδημία 2010 θα λειτουργήσει στο ξενοδοχείο Classical Athens Imperial Hotel, το οποίο βρίσκεται στο κέντρο της Αθήνας, στην πλατεία Καραϊσκάκη, από την Τρίτη 26 έως και την Κυριακή 31 Οκτωβρίου 2010. Κάθε Βαθμοφόρος του ΣΕΠ κάτοχος τουλάχιστον ΣΒΕΒ, ο οποίος γνωρίζει πολύ καλά την αγγλική γλωσσά μπορεί να συμμετάσχει, παρακολουθώντας τις εκπαιδευτικές ενότητες που τον / την ενδιαφέρουν και για όσες ημέρες επιθυμεί. Η οικονομική συμμετοχή έχει οριστεί στο ποσό των 55 την ημέρα. Για όσους Έλληνες Βαθμοφόρους γίνει δεκτή η αίτηση τους έχει ληφθεί μέριμνα να φιλοξενηθούν ώστε το εν λόγω κόστος να περιοριστεί. Σε όσους εγκριθεί η συμμετοχή τους θα ενημερωθούν για το ακριβές ποσό.

Understanding the relevance of volunteering in the society and the relevance of the recognition of the work of volunteers for Scouting and Guiding. Introduce and build on the Toolkit proposed by the Regions for the European Year of Volunteering. Information and 1. Better information of the European Year of Volunteering 2. Information about central features of volunteering (scientific findings, WAGGGS- Survey, motivation for volunteering) 3. Appropriation of the toolkit 4. New Ideas of actions and activities for the EYV European Year of Volunteering 2011: what is it? Understanding the European Year, the opportunities that it offers, how it functions at the national level Information and 1. A sound understanding of the structures at the national and European level 2. Sharing the approaches taken at the national level 3. Looking into the after the European Year Volunteer corporate scheme Presentation of the concept of volunteer corporate scheme and how it functions but also the relevance for Scouting and Guiding and information 1. Quality needs to be achieved in each of these factors in order to grow Better Organisations survival strategies for the 21st Century To help participants to assess their NSO against six organisational behaviours which will help them to survive and grow in the 21 st Century. Participants will also be assisted to build an action plan to help their NSO improve. Objectives - after the session it is expected that participants will (be able to): 1. List the six organisational behaviours essential for a healthy NSO 2. Describe how their NSO is performing against the behaviours 3. State a number of actions that could be taken to improve the health of their NSO and make it more relevant to 21 st century Scouting How to manage change in an association? Help participants to manage change in their NSO. Participants will consider both the theory and practice of change management and will aim to provide practical strategies to ensure resources are used in the most effective and efficient way. After the session it is expected that participants will (be able to): 1. List the five key resistors to change 2. Describe the key elements to include in a project plan to ensure change is managing effectively 3. Describe the practical actions that can be taken to ensure change is managed effectively and efficiently in an NSO 4. Describe strategies that can be used to overcome resistance to change Use Social media to grow To give the participants tools and knowledge on how to set a strategy for social media in the membership / growth settings. 1. introduce a strategy planning and implementation process =what is important (with concrete examples) 2. get an overview on what social media is all about and how it relates to growth / membership 3. obtain knowledge about what purposes social media tools are suitable / not suitable 4. share best / worst practices 5. start working on a strategy Creative Thinking: is that for us? Diversity & Gender balance in leadership To raise awareness of participants about diversity and how are they dealing with it in their own Associations. Objectives 1. By the end of the session the participants will work on: 2. What is the definition of diversity and especially the definition of it in Guiding and Scouting
3. Define the specificities of diversity in recruiting, supporting and retaining leaders in Guiding and Scouting 4. Explore how to reach out to new minority groups to be involved in Guiding and Scouting 5. To develop and make a diversity strategy in their own Association Personal development This session aims to raise awareness of participants that personal development is a life long process in all areas of our life. and exchange 1. Help participants realize that in our efforts to fulfill WOSM & WAGGGS mission and to help children and young people in their personal development, we also grow and develop. 2. Give participants opportunities to grow and develop through activities and through of experiences. Mentoring Volunteers To train associations on how to use mentoring as a tool to support the development of their associations 1. To understand what mentoring is and how it can be used 2. To understand how mentoring can be used in G&S associations at different levels 3. To become aware of mentoring as being a successful tool for succession planning 4. To exchange best practices and ideas Succession planning To support MOs through the training of participants in implementing a succession planning system To learn how to implement succession planning in a national association or a federation 1. To understand how to set up a succession planning system 2. To discover and learn how to use succession planning tools that could fit a national association or a federation Local Leaders Finding best ways to support local leaders in providing quality Guiding and Scouting To emphasize the importance of local leaders (local leaders as basis of associations mission) by the end of the session participants will have worked on how to: 1. Ensure that work of local leaders is appreciated as one of the most important roles in Guiding/Scouting 2. Make sure local leaders have all support needed to perform their tasks in a good way 3. Implement various strategies on local level 4. Make sure national and district levels have local leaders in their focus Fundraising strategy The session aims at training participants in terms of fund raising capacity and sustainability by the end of the sessions participants will have:
1. Learnt how to design a fund raising strategy that takes into consideration the specificity of one s association 2. Learnt how to map donor that fit the needs and ethics of their association 3. Learnt how to care for donors 4. Learnt how to implement and monitor the strategy Is funding possible for Scouting and Guiding? Inform on funding opportunities available for projects within Scouting and Guiding, starting from the good examples of NSOs/NSAs/MOs that managed to be successful Sharing best practices; informative 1. share best practices of NSOs/MOs who managed to be successful in funding, offering specific examples; 2. present different funding lines and methodologies that could be "scout and guide" friendly; in particular focus will be put on European funds accessible at National Level; 3. offer suggestion for possible future actions in the funding area; How to build an advocacy strategy? Find out more soon Youth involvement and decision making Aim: The session aims to explore the issue of youth involvement in the context of decisionmaking in Guide and Scout associations. and Objectives - By the end of the session, the participants will have: 1. discussed the pros and cons of youth involvement in decision-making from different aspects 2. shared best practices related to involving youth in decision-making 3. received theoretical input related to the different forms of youth involvement (institutional, programme, local, etc.) Intergenerational interaction - understanding the importance and the implications; Aims This session will explore the importance of intergenerational interaction in Scouting, its implications, and the benefits to be derived from it. and by the end of this session each participant will have: 1. Learned about the values and characteristics of the 4 different generation types, through the stages of growth. 2. Explored the many ways that Intergenerational interaction contributes to our
