ΑΠΟΛΟΓΙΣΜΟΣ ΡΑΣΕΩΝ ΦΕΣΤΙΒΑΛ ΒΙΟΜΗΧΑΝΙΚΗΣ ΠΛΗΡΟΦΟΡΙΚΗΣ INDUSTRIAL INFORMATICS FESTIVAL REVIEW ( i2fest2011) 10-13/11/2011 Centre of Technological Research of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Regional Development Agency of Rodopi S.A. in collaboration with the Centre of Technological Research of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Kavala Technological Institute and the Regional Authority of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace successfully organized for second year in row the Industrial Informatics festival at "Απόστολος Μαρδύρης" exhibition hall in Kavala within the framework of ASVILOC+ programme. The organized Industrial Informatics festival attempted to shed light on the potential of the industrial informatics industry as well as the crucial influence of innovative plans on the social, economic, and cultural life of the citizens. In the framework of the festival was held and the 3rd Regional Laboratory Meeting in 13/11/2012. During the meeting all participants and the members of the RL discussed the issues presented in the festival and generally
developed a dialogue with organizations and companies which participated in the festival. It's specialized action programme intended to stimulate the students of the local and regional area, to bring into surface innovative good practices from all over the region and Greece as well as to provide the opportunity to the students to present their work on each relevant theme. The organized festival was organized around the following themes: Education, Students, Parents Academia and Private sector Culture and Politics In 2011 festival, within the theme "Education, Students, Parents," students were offered simplified technological knowledge, collaborated with the teachers of secondary education and created an interactive space of education and learning. This effort started with an innovation web contest and school visiting, where students answered in an electronic questionnaire. Lucky students have also been offered a digital book reader. Finally, a great amount of students visited the festival via scheduled trips, received useful information for technological issues during the specialized events and visited the Tech Show exhibition hall.
The events that were organized in the above framework can be summarized below: 1. On Thursday & Friday 10-11 November, more than 1000 high school students visited the festival. The students, followed speeches concerning innovation, industry information technology, mobile phone applications, education from distance, robotics for educational purposes and visited the 15 kiosks with university students' artefacts relevant to computer-based robot creations (incorporated systems) and trade packages. 2. In the evenings between 5-7 pm the laboratory of educational robotics were presented to parents and children.
In the theme "Academia and Private Sector", special emphasis was given in the development of discussions from important people from Academic and Industrial Sector. The central theme of the discussion was innovation and also outputs of Corallia Cluster Initiatives, Microelectronics and Incorporated Systems have been presented with the presence of prof Makios and President of ΕΝΕΒΗ. The most important examples from the Hellenic and European space have been developed during speeches from exceptional Greek scientists. Also, within the exhibition, students had the opportunity to present their workshops, discuss with corporation representatives while the best technological workshops have been honorably awarded. Also, again in the theme "Academia and Private Sector", emphasis was given in the presentation of open software on Saturday 12 November. In the morning, Mrs Vasileiadou Thaleia and Mr Kazanidis Ioannis, partners of TEI Kavala presented educational applications and the tools Moodle and wikis. Teacher Dr Kaskamanidis Ioannis presented the educational uses of e-portfolio in a laboratory exercise in Mahara application. In the evening of the same day, within the framework of a daily meeting, series of speeches were held from important people of the academic and entrepreneurial field. The main discussion topic was the open software and learning through distance. Emeritus professor of University of Piraeus Mr Dimitrios Sampson, and professor of Informatics Department of Thessaloniki Technological institute Mr Dimosthenis Stamatis honored with their presence the event as well as ΕΛΛΑΚ President Mr Theodoros kaounos who was positioned in the free open-code software, Mr Eleftherios Karakatsanis from Democritus University office of technological transmission who talked on the digital communication approach in the holistic learning method and use experience, Mr Nikolaos Papathanasiou Ι.Π.Ε.Τ. partner of E.K. "Athina" who
positioned for e-learning on maintenance management, Dr Vasileios Kostakis from P2P foundation (foundation on peer to peer alternatives) who positioned for the open-code approach and OLPC initiatives and finally, Mrs Zaharoula Harpantidou who positioned on the use of non-synchronized teleducation in the education teachers in Drama. During the theme "Culture and Politics", a collaborative approach of our effort was completed during the organized meeting on Sunday 13 November. Our local political culture set defines the rules and set the base for the entrepreneurial and innovation development. Various discussions have been made regarding the tertiary education, entrepreneurship, the role of Public sector, and the methods to create a future innovative academic and entrepreneurial landscape. In this framework, various discussions on transnational technology development took place. Vise-dean of Rutgers University USA Professor L.C. Feldman was the key-note speaker. Head of Regional Authority of Easter Macedonia & Thrace Mr. Aristides Giannakidis and Vise-heads Mr. Arhelaos Granas and Konstantinos Papakosmas also honored the organized event with their presence as well as the General Manager of Regional Development Agency of
Rodopi Mr Eustathios Kefalidis. Some of the festival's scheduled activities: 4 days of interactive and innovations technological presentations, speeches and parallel activities 120 local volunteer students and citizens contributed on the successful organization of the event 30 visits in schools in all over the region 1516 students participated in the electronic web competition 10 students received a digital "book reader" 40 parents participated in the "electronic alphabet" 1250 students visited the festival and the organized technological and lectures for innovations 500 university students participated in two meetings on technology, innovation and development
1445 web-followers via Facebook Over 30 technological and innovative artefacts were presented during the Tech Show Awards and technology contests. During the festival, visitors were able to visit the exhibition site where students had the opportunity to present their projects, discuss with firm representatives whereas awards where given on the best technological projects. The fact that made the best impression in most visitors was the excellent organization and the more than 120 volunteer students and teachers who catalytically contributed on the success of the festival objectives with the minimum cost (estimated on half of the initial cost) all exclusively motivated by their kindness and their will to offer.
