PRACTICAL INFO Time zone difference Greece is in the Eastern European Time Zone. Eastern European Standard Time (EET) is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2). Like most countries in Europe, Summer (Daylight Saving) time is observed in Greece, where the time is moved forward by 1 hour, 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). After the summer months the time is moved back by 1 hour to Eastern European Time (EET) or (GMT+2). Daylight Savings Time (GMT+3) in Greece begins at 3 a.m. on the last Sunday of March and ends at 4 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. Language The official language is Greek. English is generally understood and spoken in hotels, shops and restaurants, so there are no communication problems. Electrical appliances The electricity supply in Greece is alternating current, 220-250 volts, 50 cycles. Appliances for 110 or 120 volts may be operated by using step down transformers of 220-250/110 volts connected to each outlet. There are many private infirmaries of almost every specialization in Chora. There are four pharmacies in Chora and three out of Chora. At I. Theocharis pharmacy in Matogianni, you may find ordinary medicines but also a great variety of homeopathic and plant therapy products. Water Bottled water is recommended for drinking as tap water is suitable for bathing and cleaning your teeth. How to move around You will find the main taxi station in the square of Manto Maurogenous in Chora. You will be picked up from any place on the island you desire by making one phone call. The taxi price from the Airport to Chora is 6, from Chora to the Port 4 and from Chora to Panormos 9. Local Buses run daily routes till late at night. There are itineraries to Paradise during the whole night. In Fabrica region in Chora you may find the Bus Station to all destinations except from Kalafatis and Elia.
