AHEPA Family Annual Scholarship: Two scholarships are awarded at $1000 each. Applicants must be of Greek descent. The first scholarship is awarded to a student currently in their first year at a university or community college (if you are currently in your last year of high school, please wait until next year to apply). The second scholarship is awarded to a student continuing his/her graduate studies at a university or community college (currently at least in second year and may be a post-graduate student). Announcements Lecture on What Saved Satyr Drama? Someone Has Been Here Before Us A little girl, not used to traveling, was making a train trip across the country with her mother. Looking out the train window, she could see rivers and streams ahead. She worried how the train would be able to cross those bodies of water. As they drew near the river for the first time, the little girl saw the bridge which was to provide the way over. Two or three times the same thing happened. Finally, the little girl leaned back in the train seat and with a long sigh of relief and confidence said, Somebody has been here before us and built bridges for us all the way. Christ has been here before us and He has built bridges for us all the way---the bridge from sin to forgiveness, from despair to hope, from doubt to faith, from death to life. And He expects us, His followers, to be bridge builders as we pass through this world, building bridges of understanding and love between us and our fellow humans. Fr. LOVE Κάποιος ήταν εδώ πριν από εμάς Ένα μικρό κορίτσι, που δεν συνήθιζε να ταξιδεύει, έκανε ένα μακρύ ταξίδι, μαζί με τη μητέρα της, από τη μιαν άκρη της χώρας της μέχρι την άλλη. Αγναντεύοντας από το παράθυρο του τρένου έβλεπε, πέρα μακρυά, ποτάμια και ρυάκια και ανησύχησε για το πώς το τρένο θα μπορούσε να τα διασχίσει. Φτάνοντας κοντά στο πρώτο ποτάμι, το μικρό κορίτσι, είδε τη γέφυρα που υπήρχε σ εκείνο το μέρος, πάνω από την οποία θα περνούσε το τρένο. Αυτό επαναλήφθηκε δυο-τρεις φορές το να συναντούν, δηλαδή, γέφυρες σε όποιο ποτάμι έπρεπε να περάσουν. Τότε το κορίτσι έγειρε, με εμπιστοσύνη, πίσω στο κάθισμά του και αφού έβγαλε ένα βαθύ αναστεναγμό ανακούφισης είπε: «Κάποιος ήταν εδώ πριν από εμάς που έχτισε όλες αυτές τις γέφυρες για τούτη τη διαδρομή.» Ο Χριστός ήταν εδώ πριν από εμάς και έχτισε γέφυρες καθ όλη τη διαδρομή, για όλους μας. Εκείνος έχει χτίσει τη γέφυρα της αμαρτίας προς τη συγχώρεση, της απελπισίας προς την ελπίδα, της αμφιβολίας προς την πίστη, του θανάτου προς τη ζωή και περιμένει από εμάς, τα παιδιά Του, ενώ διανύουμε τη διαδρομή μας σε αυτή τη ζωή, να γίνουμε κι εμείς οικοδόμοι με το να χτίζουμε γέφυρες κατανόησης και αγάπης ανάμεσα σε εμάς και τους συνανθρώπους μας.
