Parish News Stewardship Month - November November will be Stewardship Month in our church. During this month we will have several events with guest speakers. It is also a chance to meet the advisors/coordinators of our ministry programs. We invite you to participate and indicate what your ministry and financial commitment will be to Οur Lord in 2013. For more information see page 11. **Submit your 2013 stewardship pledge cards during the month of November and participate in a drawing which will take place in December.** Teaching Liturgy - November 4th On Sunday, November 4th, we will have our first teaching Liturgy for the year. Most of the Liturgy will be conducted in the English Language. We invite everyone to participate! Lamb Dinner - November 11th On Sunday, November 11th, we will host a Lamb Dinner at our church hall following the Divine Liturgy. The tickets are $12 for the adults and $7 for the children. The dinner is also available for take out. You may purchase your tickets from any Parish Council member or the church office (see flyer on page 14). 75th Anniversary Commemorative Book At the end of this year we will be publishing a 75th Anniversary Commemorative Book, which will be available for purchase, in celebration of the history of our church. You and your family can be part of this commemorative book by purchasing a place in our history. Please complete the form, that you have already received through a separate mailing, with your information, for example, a photo of your family or in memory of a family member(s) or a personal message, as you would like it to appear in the commemorative book. Please return the form along with your information (include personal message and/or photo) and payment on or before Sunday, November 25th. If you have not received the form, please immediately communicate with the church office at 603-623-2045. Thank you for your continuous support and for being a part of our history. New Year s Eve Celebration - December 31st Please come and join us on New Year s Eve to celebrate, together as a family, the upcoming year and the passing of the current one. The New Year s Eve Celebration, will be held on December 31st, 2012 from 7pm till 1am at the Assumption Church Hall. More information will be provided in December s newsletter. Autumn Bazaar Philoptochos News The annual Autumn Bazaar will be held Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd & 4th. We need volunteers to work in the kitchen and at all of the other areas beverages, raffle, attic treasures, pastry, and penny sale. We also need donations of new items for the Penny Sale, items in good condition for the Attic Treasures table, and pastry (ravani, karidopeta, paximathia, halva etc, - not peta). PLEASE SUPPORT OUR BIGGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR! Coffee Hours Please contact a Philoptochos Board member or the church office if you would like to sponsor a coffee hour. If you have a special date in mind, please reserve it early. Upcoming Events - Save the Date Sunday, December 9, 2012, following Church Services the ladies Philoptochos Society will be sponsoring its annual Christmas Party. All ladies of the parish are welcome. Tickets must be purchased in advance. More information to follow. Tri-Ortho The Tri Ortho Meeting will be held on November 14 at 1:00 p.m. at St. George Community Center. Refreshments will be served. The Christmas Party will be on Thursday, December 6 at 12:00 noon for members only at the Puritan Conference Center, Suite B. Advanced ticket sales will be available at the November Meeting. Youth News Sunday School We would like to thank all the parents for bringing the children in church at 10:15. The change in the hour has worked very well! There will be no Sunday School classes on Sunday, November 25th due to the Thanksgiving break. We will celebrate family Sunday!! Father will do the liturgy in segments explaining to the children what exactly is being done and why. All the families are encouraged to attend. Greek School There will be no Greek School classes on Thursday, November 22nd due to the Thanksgiving break. Congratulations to the new GOYA officers! JOY News... Thank you to all our children for making our pumpkin and apple picking events in October such a great success. Youth Greek Dance Group All children ages 7 to 18 are welcomed to join our Youth Dance Group. Our group meets every Sunday at 1:30pm at the church hall. For more information you may contact Fr. Assumption Church Community Christmas Card Fundraiser As the Christmas Season quickly approaches, we are, once again, asking our parish community and friends of the Assumption Church to participate in our annual community Christmas Card. This year s donation remains at $15.00 per household. However, any amount you wish to contribute above this will be most welcomed. The Christmas Card will be sent to more than 300 Assumption Church parish families and friends. It s that time of year again to think about sending our Christmas and New Year s wishes to everyone. Within the Christian church as a whole, the word stewardship is an unpopular word. In the minds of most people, the word calls up associations that are not altogether pleasant. This is because the people of the church have come to think of steward largely in the terms of raising money. Christian stewardship is the free and joyous activity of the child of God and God s family, the church, in managing in all of life and life s resources for God s purpose. 11
