The photographs will be taken at different locations in and around the Cathedral. FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS FOR COMMEMORATIVE ALBUM Families that would like to schedule the 150 th Anniversary photographer for a family photograph, which can be used for a Commemorative Album sponsorship ad, can sign up to have their photograph taken on Saturday, October 4. The cost for the photograph is $25. Additional photographs can be ordered directly through the photographer. In the event out of town family members are coming for the 150 th Anniversary weekend, photographs for those families can be scheduled on Saturday, October 11. Families must sign up no later than Wednesday, October 1, to have photographs taken on Saturday, October 4, and Saturday, October 11. No exception as space is limited. PHILOPTOCHOS MEETING The Ecclesiastical New Year is in full swing, and Philoptochos invites all women 18 and older to join the fun and fellowship while making a difference in the lives of others. It is the mission of Philoptochos to foster love and goodwill, pledge assistance to those less privileged, bestow compassion and dignity to the vulnerable, and uplift the disadvantaged. At the first meeting in September, plans for the coming year will be completed. Join them on September 14 in the Coffee Room at 12:00 pm after services. SCHOOL SUPPLIES Once again Philoptochos is collecting school supplies for the children at the Lafayette School. It is their hope that every child at the elementary level will be prepared to learn and succeed by providing them with free pencils, crayons, notebooks, erasers, and glue. Cornelia Koniditsiotis has begun to take supplies to the school children. Thanks to everyone, who has already helped. A lot more items are still required. A collection box is available in the Coffee Room as everyone s help is needed with this project. PAINTING THE GYMNASIUM A majority of the Hellenic Cultural Center downstairs is being painted in preparation for the upcoming 150 th Anniversary Celebration. Please be mindful and respectful of the premises!

150TH ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING A meeting of the 150th Anniversary Committee will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014, in the Hellenic Cultural Center at 7:00 pm. All committees are asked to attend to discuss the October 10-12 Celebration events. CHOIR REQUEST Each Saturday the choir practices from 10:00 am to 11:30 am in preparation for the 150th Anniversary Celebration Divine Liturgy slated Sunday, October 12. COMMEMORATIVE ALBUM As Holy Trinity celebrates its 150 th Anniversary, parishioners are asked to support the commemorative album by purchasing a sponsorship ad that can include photographs, a personal message, tributes, family memorials, and/or business information. This album will highlight significant milestones of the past 150 years and is certain to become a treasure for present and future generations. CELEBRATION BANQUET Immediately following the Divine Liturgy on October 12, 2014, the entire Holy Trinity family is invited to greet and welcome the hierarchs, former clergy, and guests at the Celebration Banquet in the Hellenic Cultural Center. This event will culminate the year-long commemorative schedule dedicated to the beloved legacy of Holy Trinity Cathedral. The 150 th Anniversary Committee is planning a gourmet meal and a unique program. It will be a memorable day for the entire family, and the Celebration Banquet Committee hopes that everyone will make plans to participate. BRETHREN, the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary. For a tent was prepared, the outer one, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of the Presence; it is called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain stood a tent called the Holy of Holies, having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, which contained a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail. These preparations having thus been made, the priests go continually into the outer tent, performing their ritual duties; but into the second only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people. Greeks on The Bayou New Orleans Bus Tour Sponsored by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community of New Orleans EVENT: To celebrate our 150 th Anniversary, Holy Trinity Archives Committee has created a special bus tour that features unique sites that tell the story of Greeks in New Orleans from the 1700s. The Education, Cultural, and Youth Ministries Committee desires that every single child through high school participates in as many events as possible. Please mark the dates on your calendars and plan to bring your children. Sunday, September 14 Sunday School Group Photo (including teachers) for Commemorative Album immediately following the Liturgy (Sunday School teachers will stay with each class during this time.) HOPE/JOY and GOYA will also take pictures. September 21 150th Birthday Party after Sunday School - HOPE/JOY Cross activity Refreshments for all youth of the community 150th ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND Saturday, October 11 Parents, please stay with your child(ren) during the following: 3:00-4:00 pm in Cathedral - Jr. Choir rehearsal - All ages through high school 4:00-5:00 pm in Cathedral - Blessing from Their Eminences Archbishop Demetrios and Metropolitan Alexios All ages through high school Sunday, October 12 ** All children in the community will chant the Communion hymn "Ainete" during the Liturgy. Upon entering the church, please escort your child(ren) to the back row pews that will be reserved. Sunday School teachers will sit with their classes. Parents with young children, please stay with your child(ren). After the Creed, the group will walk up the left aisle together and stand in front to sing. (Sunday School teachers will stay with each class while we sing.) After Communion, Sunday School children and teachers will proceed to the Coffee Room, where Maggie Maag will conduct a tour of the Archive Exhibit. Please be mindful that there will be many concurrent events during the weekend, so we need the help of all parents and Sunday School teachers to make sure the children are well supervised. Thank you.
