3 Epistle - St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 3:23-29; 4:1-5 Prokeimenon. Mode 4. Psalm 67.35,26 God is wonderful among his saints. Verse: Bless God in the congregations. The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 3:23-29; 4:1-5 B rethren, before faith came, we were confined under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. So that the law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate; but he is under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. So with us; when we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. 5 Junior League s 32nd Annual Coats for Kids Drive On December 8, 2018, The Junior League of Austin will hold the 32nd annual Coats for Kids Distribution Day. Together with their longstanding partners Jack Brown Cleaners, KVET, and KVUE the Junior League of Austin will provide over 35,000 warm winter coats to Central Texas Children in need. Vana Kersch has volunteered to collect coats/ jackets at our church this Sunday, November 25, so please consider donating coats / jackets that are new or lightly used to be distributed to underprivileged children. A donation to Coats for Kids ensures kids will be warm this winter; it s more than a coat, it s an educational tool. Mobile Loaves and Fishes (MLF) Volunteer Opportunity On the first Saturday of every month, Transfiguration forms a team of parishioners to prepare lunches at the MLF site, as well as drive out to homeless shelters in Austin to distribute these lunches. We are always looking for volunteers. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact John Esper at john.esper@gmail.com to be on the MLF distribution list. For those on the MLF distribution list, an is sent out about 3-4 days prior to the event asking for volunteers. Typically 4-5 volunteers are needed to prepare the lunches, and 3-4 volunteers are needed to deliver the lunches. If you have any questions, please contact John Esper, and he will be glad to help. Befriending My Soul The third workshop led by Prsb. Vasiliki on Thursday, December 13, 6pm - 8pm in our conference room. 6 Bringing Your Brokenness Open to individuals and couples, meetings will be held bi-monthly on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm. We are studying book Defeating Sin by Fr. Joseph Huneycutt which is available in our bookstore. Our goal is to provide a loving Orthodox Christian atmosphere for support, accountability, study, and discussion, with the ultimate goal of restoring our souls and bodies to the image and likeness of God.
