Entrance with Gospel (This act of worship symbolizes the coming of Christ, who is God s wisdom on earth. The Choir sings one of the dismissal hymns of the Resurrection - The Priest comes forth from the Sanctuary, bearing the Gospel. He is preceded by the Altar boys holding candlesticks. Facing the Royal gate of the Iconostasion, he elevates the Gospel and chants:) Wisdom! Let us rise! Come, let us worship and bow unto Christ. St. Paul s letter to Hebrews, , "IN THE BEGINNING, Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of thy hands; they will perish, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment, like a mantle thou wilt roll them up, and they will be changed. But thou art the same, and thy years will never end." But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation? Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him. Πριν το γεύμα θα προηγηθεί κατάθεση στεφάνων και ανέλκυση των σημαιών. Οι προετοιμασίες για το Φεστιβάλ συνεχιζονται με γοργούς ρυθμούς. Παρακαλούμε να έρθετε να βοηθήσετε την Τρίτη 29 Μαρτίου στις 10 π.μ. για να ετοιμαστούν οι κουραμπιέδες. Η κοινότητά μας θα συμμετάσχει στην Παρέλαση της 25ης Μαρτίου που θα διοργανωθεί στις 10 Απριλίου στη Νέα Υόρκη. Λόγω της επετείου των 100 χρόνων της ενορίας μας, θα έχουμε την τιμή να παρελάσουμε αμέσως μετά την Μητρόπολή μας. Ας δείξουμε όλοι μας πόσο περήφανοι είμαστε για τον Άγιο μας Γεώργιο! Το πρόγραμμα της εκκλησίας εκείνη την ημέρα θα διαμορφωθεί ως ακολούθως: Όρθρος 8:00 π.μ. κα Θεία Λειτουργία στις 9:00 π.μ. Τα λεωφορεία θα αναχωρήσουν από την εκκλησία στις 11:30 π.μ. ακριβώς. Το κόστος είναι $25 για τους ενήλικες, και $10 για τους φοιτητές, με επίδειξη της φοιτητικής τους κάρτας. Τα παιδιά του Ελληνικού και Κατηχητικού σχολείου, καθώς και τα παιδιά της Νεολαίας μας θα είναι δωρεάν. Θα παρασχεθεί ελαφρύ γεύμα στο λεωφορείο. Σε μία προσπάθεια να είμαστε ομοιόμορφοι, ζητάμε από τους άνδρες να φορέσουν μαύρο κουστούμι, άσπρο πουκάμισο και μαύρη γραβάτα, και από τις γυναίκες να φορέσουν ένα μαύρο σύνολο. (Δεν επιτρέπονται αθλητικά παπούτσια ή τζιν κατά την παρέλαση). Όσα παιδιά επιθυμούν να είναι πάνω στο άρμα μας θα πρέπει να είναι άνω των 5 ετών και να είναι ντυμένα με εθνικές ενδυμασίες. 5 ANNOUNCEMENTS CHURCH NEWS Today, after the Divine Liturgy, the AHEPA organization will host the Greek Independence Day celebration luncheon, at the Church Hall. Every family is invited to attend! Preparation for the Festival is going on strong. Please come and help on Tuesday, March 29th at 10 am in order to make Kourambiedes. Our community will participate in the Parade in honor of our Greek Independence Day (March 25, 1821) on Sunday April 10th in New York City. In celebration of our community s 100th Anniversary, our church has the honor of marching first in the NJ Metropolis battalion. Let s show how proud we all are of our St. George community! Church Services on this day will be as follows: Orthros 8:00 a.m. and Divine Liturgy 9:00 a.m. Buses will be leaving our church parking lot at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $25/adults, college students/$10 with ID. All GOYA members, Sunday & Greek school students are free of charge. A complimentary lunch will be provided on the bus. Church attire is required to participate. In an effort to appear uniform, men are asked to wear black suit, white shirt, and black tie and the women are asked to wear black jacket with black pants/skirt. (No sneakers or jeans will be allowed if you are marching with the church). Sashes and flags will be provided to all participants. Children who would like to be on the float must be 5 years old or older and dressed in their Greek costumes. No parents will be allowed on the float. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven." Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, "Why does this man speak thus? It is a blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"-he said to the paralytic-"i say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home." And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!" 6 PRIEST MESSAGE FATHER NICHOLAS MESSAGE Today marks the feast day of St. Gregory Palamas, Archbishop of Salonica (Thessaloniki). St. Gregory was a very saintly man who dedicated his life to Christ at a very early age, in spite of the fact that he was raised in the royal palace of Constantinople. He journeyed to the Holy Mountain of Orthodoxy known as Mt. Athos. This Holy area has been a sanctuary for men of God for over 1500 years. There are over 20 large monasteries at Mt. Athos, each capable of housing over 4,000 monks and holy men. There are also many hundreds of tiny houses, shacks, caves, which shelter ascetics (an ascetic is a person who wishes to be by himself, alone away from the material things and to devote himself to prayer, meditation and study of the Scriptures). If you should visit this Holy Mountain, you will be most amazed to find truly saintly men who have found God. They have discovered the Kingdom of Heaven which is within every person. St. Gregory Palamas was a monk at Mt. Athos who found the true meaning of Christian living. He studied very hard and became one of the Church s greatest scholars. He was appointed Archbishop of Thessaloniki in the year He died at the age of 63. His holy relics rest in Thessaloniki. STEWARDSHIP I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him, bears much fruit;, John 15:5 Greetings dear faithful in the love and peace of Christ! When you receive the next Voice, it would mean that 4 months of 2016 have passed and only very few of our St. George families have made a Stewardship commitment. Your Stewardship offering becomes the tool of ministry, salvation and healing. We urge you to search your hearts and conscience and make your Stewardship commitment according to how Christ has blessed you and your family. Again, as a reminder, St. George needs everyone s support. If you are 18 and over and you have a full time job, even though you are living at home, please consider making a Stewardship commitment to your Church. St George needs your help! Please help us keep the strength and comfort of the Church for us all and for our children. Όταν λάβετε το επόμενο τεύχος της «Φωνής» του Αγίου Γεωργίου, θα έχουμε ήδη διανήσει τέσσερις μήνες του 2016 και μόνο ελάχιστες από τις οικογένειές μας έχουν στείλει την βεβαίωση της οικονομικής τους εισφοράς. Η οικονομική σας προσφορά γίνεται το μέσον για τη διακονία, την σωτηρία και την επούλωση. Σας προτρύνουμε να εξετάσετε την συνείδησή σας και να προσφέρετε την βοήθειά σας αναλόγως της ευλογίας που εσείς και η οικογένειά σας έχετε λάβει από τον Κύριο. Σας υπενθυμίζουμε ξανά πως ο Άγιος Γεώργιος έχει ανάγκη οικονομικής ενίσχυσης από όλους μας. Εάν είστε 18 ετών και άνω (έστω κι αν μένετε με τους γονείς σας) και εργαζόσαστε, σας παρακαλώ να προσφέρετε την βοήθειά σας στην Εκκλησία σας. Ο Άγιος Γεώργιος έχει ανάγκη της βοήθειάς σας! Σας παρακαλώ να διατηρήσετε την δυναμικότητα και την ύπαρξη της Εκκλησίας για μας όλους και για τα παιδιά μας.
