2 Epistle Prokeimenon. Mode 4. Psalm 18.4,1 Their voice has gone out into all the earth. Verse: The heavens declare the glory of God. The reading is from Acts of the Apostles 9:10-19 In those days, there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord." And the Lord said to him, "Rise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for a man of Tarsus named Saul; for behold, he is praying, and he has seen a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight." But Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to thy saints at Jerusalem; and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call upon thy name." But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; for I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name." So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized, and took food and was strengthened. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. Καὶ εὐθέως ἀπέπεσον ἀπὸ τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ λεπίδες, ἀνέβλεψέν τε καὶ ἀναστὰς ἐβαπτίσθη, καὶ λαβὼν τροφὴν ἐνίσχυσεν. Ἐγένετο δὲ ὁ Σαῦλος μετὰ τῶν ἐν Δαμασκῷ μαθητῶν ἡμέρας τινάς. From on high you descended most Compassionate; you accepted a three-day burial; so that you would, from the passion free us all, our life and resurrection that you are, glory to you O Lord. Apolytikion of Ananias of the 70 Ἀπόστολε Ἅγιε Ἀνανία, πρέσβευε τῷ ἐλεήμονι Θεῷ, ἵνα πταισμάτων ἄφεσιν, παράσχη ταῖς ψυχαῖς ἡμῶν. O Holy Apostle Ananias, intercede to our merciful God, that He may grant our souls forgiveness of sins. Apolytikion of Romanos the Melodist Ἐν σοί Πάτερ ἀκριβῶς διεσώθη τό κατ' εἰκόνα, λαβών γάρ τόν σταυρόν, ἠκολούθησας τῷ Χριστῷ καί πράττων ἐδίδασκες, ὑπεροράν μέν σαρκός, παρέρχεται γάρ, ἐπιμελεῖσθαι δέ ψυχῆς, πράγματος ἀθανάτου. Διό καί μετά Ἀγγέλων συναγάλλεται, Ὅσιε Ρωμανέ τό πνεῦμά σου. The image of God, was faithfully preserved in you, O Father. For you took up the Cross and followed Christ. By Your actions you taught us to look beyond the flesh for it passes, rather to be concerned about the soul which is immortal. Wherefore, O Holy Romanos, your soul rejoices with the angels. Apolytikion of the Church Σήμερον τῆς σωτηρίας ἡμῶν τό κεφάλαιον, καί τοῦ ἀπ' αἰῶνος μυστηρίου ἡ φανέρωσις ὁ υἱός τοῦ Θεοῦ, υἱός τῆς Παρθένου γίνεται, καί Γαβριήλ τήν χάριν εὐαγγελίζεται. Διό καί ἡμεῖς σύν αὐτῷ, τῇ Θεοτόκῳ βοήσωμεν Χαῖρε Κεχαριτωμένη, ὁ Κύριος μετά σοῦ. To-day is the crown of our Salvation and the manifestation of the Eternal Mystery. The Son of God becometh the son of the Virgin, and Gabriel announceth the good tidings of grace. Wherefore let us also with him cry to the Mother of God: Hail! Thou that art full of grace; the Lord is with thee. Kontakion Προστασία τῶν Χριστιανῶν ἀκαταίσχυντε, μεσιτεία πρός τόν Ποιητήν ἀμετάθετε, μή παρίδης, ἁμαρτωλῶν δεήσεων φωνάς, ἀλλά πρόφθασον ὡς ἀγαθή, εἰς τήν βοήθειαν ἡμῶν, τῶν πιστῶς κραυγαζόντων σοι τάχυνον εἰς πρεσβείαν, καί σπεῦσον εἰς ἱκεσίαν, ἡ προσταεύουσα ἀεί, Θεοτόκε, τῶν τιμώντων σε. O protection of the unashamable, mediation to the Creator immovable, despise not, the pleading voices of those in sin, but hasten O good one, to the help of all of us, who in faith cry out to you: speed up your intercession, and press on your supplication, O Theotokos who always protect, all Today, our parish community observes National Church Music Ministry Sunday. It comes each year in the month of October, the feast day of Saint Romanos, the Melodist. On this day, we recognize those women and men who have heard and responded to the Lord s invitation to be church musicians: that is, parish chanters and choir singers. As church musicians, these people represent the laity in the liturgical dialogue of our worship services. In glory to God, the Holy Trinity, they commit themselves to learning the hymns of our Orthodox faith, understanding the sequence of our liturgical worship, and actively offering their prayers in song to enhance the beauty of our worship. We thank our Choir and Cantors for chanting and honoring The Annunciation every Sunday and special Holidays. God bless you all and may you sing for many years to come! 4

Greek School Τιμή στον Νίκο Γκάλη Την Πέμπτη 21 Σεπτεμβρίου, στις 7:15 το απόγευμα το Ελληνικό σχολείο τίμησε με τον δικό του τρόπο τον Νίκο Γκάλη, Έλληνα μπασκετμπολίστα ο οποίος γεννήθηκε στην Αμερική από Έλληνες γονείς μετανάστες. Με τον τρόπο αυτό τα παιδιά μας μάθανε ποιος είναι αυτός ο σπουδαίος αθλητής, και αν και γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αμερική, η ψυχή του παρέμεινε Ελληνική, γύρισε στην πατρίδα του και διέπρεψε στον αθλητισμό. Είναι ο λόγος που σε κάθε σχολείο, σε κάθε γειτονιά υπάρχει μία μπασκέτα. Who is Nikos Galis. Nikos Galis is one of 10 inductees in the 2017 Basketball Hall of Fame class. Born to Greek immigrants in New Jersey, starred at Seton Hall in the late 70s, got drafted by the Celtics but never made the team, then moved to his parents native country to dominate for over a decade and ignite a basketball explosion. It is no exaggeration to say Galis is the patron saint of modern Hellenic basketball. There is no doubt about being one of the greatest players in FIBA history, the starring role as Greece won the European title in 1987 or how he had such an impact on sports in his adopted homeland that the interior of the arena in Thessaloniki was re-named Nikos Galis Hall. We are looking for both existing families who attend our Greek School and any other interested parishioner who has a passion for preserving the language of our motherland. The purpose of our Greek School is to systematically and methodically teach the Greek language so that our children are able to read, write, understand, and speak Greek. The affairs of the Greek School is managed by a Board of Education. Board members hold office for a two year term. Given the existing vacancies, the president of the BOE is calling for interested parties at this current time rather than waiting for the annual meeting. As the school year begins, we hope to fill all spots so that the Board can begin to create its strategic goals for our Greek School.
