Philoptochos Today we will have our monthly meeting during coffee hour. Please join us! NEW GROUP Knitting group, please refer to attached flyer! If you have any yarn or supplies you would like to donate, please bring to our church for our group. Knit items made will be donated to those in need. Youth Groups Our HOPE & JOY groups are ministries at Saints Constantine and Helen that provide an opportunity for children to meet, socialize, and interact with one another through various events held during the year, while forming a sense of belonging to our parish and God. Please consider getting your kids involved in HOPE/JOY this year. Some of our prior events have included Christmas Crafts/Wreath Decorating, PB&J Night (pizza, bible and jammies), Chocolate Dipping, Ninja Warrior Training, and Bounce Houses. Our annual events are the Harvest Dance and Easter Egg Hunt. To join the program, please complete the attached registration form. There is no cost or fee to join since each event is 'pay as you go.' Once the form is completed, you can it to Cally at saintschsecretary@me.com or Kristin at tcbk64@aol.com. Otherwise, you may also print it out and drop off at the church office. Should you have any questions regarding the HOPE/JOY program, feel free to contact the youth group advisors, Kristin ( ) and Bonnie ( ). 2 The reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 4:6-15 The saints shall rejoice in glory. Verse: Sing to the Lord a new song. Brethren, it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believe, and so we speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. 12th Sunday of Luke The Gospel According to Luke 17:12-19 At that time, as Jesus entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices and said: "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." When he saw them he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus's feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then, Jesus said, "Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" And he said to him: "Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well." Do you love to knit or crochet? Our Philoptochos is forming a knitting and crochet group! We ll be making items such as hats and scarves to distribute to various charities. Won t you join us? It s a wonderful opportunity to use your skills to help others. If you d like to participate but don t have these skills, you re in luck! Members of our group would love to teach you the basics. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church Philoptochos is a philanthropic society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America undertaking various outreach programs for over 80 years. St. Irene Ladies Philoptochos of Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church is comprised of dedicated ladies of our community. Our mission is to promote philanthropic participation in the many activities in our community. We give our time, talents and treasurers, in an effort to fulfill, creatively and in fellowship, the charitable goals and commitments of our community, our Church, National Philoptochos as we alleviate the suffering of those in need. We welcome new members to this very prestigious organization. 5 Πρὸς Κορινθίους β' 4:6-15 τὸ ἀνάγνωσµα Καυχήσονται ὅσιοι ἐν δόξῃ Στίχ. Ἄσατε τῷ Κυρίῳ ᾆσµα καινόν. Ἀδελφοί, ὁ θεὸς ὁ εἰπὼν ἐκ σκότους φῶς λάµψαι, ὃς ἔλαµψεν ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ἡµῶν πρὸς φωτισµὸν τῆς γνώσεως τῆς δόξης τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν προσώπῳ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ. Ἔχοµεν δὲ τὸν θησαυρὸν τοῦτον ἐν ὀστρακίνοις σκεύεσιν, ἵνα ἡ ὑπερβολὴ τῆς δυνάµεως ᾖ τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ µὴ ἐξ ἡµῶν ἐν παντὶ θλιβόµενοι, ἀλλʼ οὐ στενοχωρούµενοι ἀπορούµενοι, ἀλλʼ οὐκ ἐξαπορούµενοι διωκόµενοι, ἀλλʼ οὐκ ἐγκαταλειπόµενοι καταβαλλόµενοι, ἀλλʼ οὐκ ἀπολλύµενοι πάντοτε τὴν νέκρωσιν τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ σώµατι περιφέροντες, ἵνα καὶ ἡ ζωὴ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ σώµατι ἡµῶν φανερωθῇ. Ἔχοντες δὲ τὸ αὐτὸ πνεῦµα τῆς πίστεως, κατὰ τὸ γεγραµµένον, Ἐπίστευσα, διὸ ἐλάλησα, καὶ ἡµεῖς πιστεύοµεν, διὸ καὶ λαλοῦµεν εἰδότες ὅτι ὁ ἐγείρας τὸν κύριον Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἡµᾶς διὰ Ἰησοῦ ἐγερεῖ, καὶ παραστήσει σὺν ὑµῖν. Ἐκ τοῦ Κατὰ Λουκᾶν 17:12-19 Εὐαγγελίου τὸ Ἀνάγνωσµα Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, εἰσερχοµένου αὐτοῦ εἴς τινα κώµην ἀπήντησαν αὐτῷ δέκα λεπροὶ ἄνδρες, οἳ ἔστησαν πόρρωθεν, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦραν φωνὴν λέγοντες Ιησοῦ ἐπιστάτα, ἐλέησον ἡµᾶς. καὶ ἰδὼν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς πορευθέντες ἐπιδείξατε ἑαυτοὺς τοῖς ἱερεῦσι. καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ὑπάγειν αὐτοὺς ἐκαθαρίσθησαν. εἷς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν, ἰδὼν ὅτι ἰάθη, ὑπέστρεψε µετὰ φωνῆς µεγάλης δοξάζων τὸν Θεόν, καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ εὐχαριστῶν αὐτῷ καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν Σαµαρείτης. ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ιησοῦς εἶπεν οὐχὶ οἱ δέκα ἐκαθαρίσθησαν; οἱ δὲ ἐννέα ποῦ; οὐχ εὑρέθησαν ὑποστρέψαντες δοῦναι δόξαν τῷ Θεῷ εἰ µὴ ὁ ἀλλογενὴς οὗτος; καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἀναστὰς πορεύου ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέ σε.
