2 2019 Archdiocesan Olympics information attached. Choir HANDEL S MESSIAH AT WEST POINT: For a spiritual enjoyment of the Christmas season, I recommend attending the traditional performance of Handel s Messiah at West Point. Members of area choirs, including our own, will join cadets of the Academy to perform the Christmas section of Handel s Messiah at the West Point Chapel on Sunday, December 2, at 3:30 PM. For further information, contact our choir director Leo Michaels. Youth Groups Our HOPE & JOY groups are ministries at Saints Constantine and Helen that provide an opportunity for children to meet, socialize, and interact with one another through various events held during the year, while forming a sense of belonging to our parish and God. Please consider getting your kids involved in HOPE/JOY this year. Some of our prior events have included Christmas Crafts/Wreath Decorating, PB&J Night (pizza, bible and jammies, Chocolate Dipping, Ninja Warrior Training, and Bounce Houses. Our annual events are the Harvest Dance and Easter Egg Hunt. To join the program, please complete the attached registration form. There is no cost or fee to join since each event is 'pay as you go.' Brethren, before faith came, we were confined under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. So that the law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate; but he is under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. So with us; when we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Schedule Of Classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays As a result of a strong demand from our community, the teachers and the education committee are offering a Greek School activity for children in the approximate age range of years old. The program will focus on learning through games and fun activities. The class will last approximately 40 minutes, from 4:15-4:55 every Tuesday and Thursday. Enrollment of students will be on a trial basis, and will be conditional on the student being able to function in this group setting. We need this to be a positive and enriching experience for our children, and it will require close monitoring and collaboration between parents and teachers. 10 2019 ARCHDIOCESAN OLYMPICS To Parents of JOY and GOYA Aged Children: We are writing to you in preparation for the 2019 Archdiocesan Olympics that will take place during the Memorial Day Weekend next year in Suffolk County Community College. The children of our Parish have capably represented our Church at the Archdiocesan Olympics, annually, since 1977 until about 4 years ago. During these years, attending the Archdiocesan Olympics had been a rewarding experience for hundreds of our children, something that they looked forward to every year, a chance to meet their contemporaries from other Greek Orthodox Communities and represent Saints Constantine & Helen of West Nyack both on and off the field of athletic competition something that they all did with distinction, for many years. It is our goal to re-kindle this experience for our children and give them the opportunity for building new friendships and experiences that they will always cherish into their adult lives. As you may recall, we attempted to organize and go to the Olympics in the Spring of For many reasons - everyone s busy schedule, travel distance to Long Island on a Friday evening of a holiday weekend, booking places to stay at a late hour and other difficulties, we were not successful. For this reason, we want to start the planning effort earlier this year to give everyone a chance to plan ahead and participate as they can. Normally, the Olympics start on Friday evening and end on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. In order to make this a more manageable event for all of us, we propose that we only attend the Olympics on Saturday, for a single day. We would travel to Long Island very early Saturday morning and return home on Saturday evening. We hope that this creates a more flexible situation for all of us and enables us to gain experience for subsequent years when we may be able to stay overnight. Let s walk before we run. To pull this off, we will need everyone s help with driving, chaperoning etc. We will make concrete arrangements as the time gets closer. For now, we need to know who is interested and what events their children would like to participate in, so we can plan both at an individual and team sport level. John Moustakakis will lead this planning effort and will organize practices and events early in 2019, according to interest and response. Please refer to the attached forms.
