(Repeat) Since, O Christ the Bridegroom, I have permitted my soul to slumber in indolence, I do not possess a torch aflame with virtue, and like the foolish virgins, I meditate when it is time for work. O Master, do not close against me Your heart of compassion, but rouse me up to shake off my heavy sleep, and bring me in with the wise virgins to Your bridal hall, where the sound of those that keep festival unceasingly cries: O Lord, glory to You. Tone 4 Γενηθήτω τὰ ὤτά σου προσέχοντα εἰς τὴν φωνὴν τῆς δεήσεώς µου. Come, you faithful, let us labor earnestly for Δεῦτε πιστοί, ἐπεργασώµεθα προθύµως τῶ the Master, for He distributes wealth to His Δεσπότη, νέµει γὰρ τοὶς δούλοις τὸν πλοῦτον, servants. Let one have a care for wisdom through good works; let another celebrate a service of splendor; let another faithfully communicate the word to the ignorant; let another distribute his wealth to the poor. For thereby we increase our loan, and as faithful stewards of the grace we have been given we may be rendered more worthy of our Master s favor. Deem us worthy of this, O Christ our God, by Your mercy. τῆς χάριτος τάλαντον. Ὁ µέν σοφίαν κοµιείτω, δι ἔργων ἀγαθῶν. O my Savior, deem me the wanderer, worthy of this through Your mercy. Behold now, what is so good or so joyous as for brethren to dwell together in unity?. It is like the oil of myrrh upon the head, which runs down upon the beard. Command! The Light of Christ Priest Wisdom. Rise. The light of Christ illumines all. The reading is from Job. Προκείµενον Ἦχος δ Ψαλµὸς ρλβ. Ἰδοὺ δὴ τὶ καλόν, ἢ τὶ τερπνόν, ἀλλ ἢ τὸ κατοικεῖν ἀδελφοὺς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ; Ὡς µύρον ἐπὶ κεφαλῆς, τὸ καταβαῖνον ἐπὶ πώγωνα. Κέλευσον! Φῶς Χριστοῦ Ἱερεύς Σοφία. Ὀρθοῖ. Φῶς Χριστοῦ φαίνει πᾶσι. Second Reading Ἀνάγνωσµα Β Job 1:13-22 Ἰὼβ α, Ἰὼβ τὸ Ἀνάγνωσµα. Deacon Wisdom. Let us be attentive. Διάκ. Σοφία. Πρόσχωµεν. Now there was a day when his sons and Ἐγένετο ὡς ἡ ἡµέρα αὕτη, οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰώβ, καὶ αἱ daughters were eating and drinking wine in θυγατέρες αὐτοῦ, ἤσθιον καὶ ἔπινον ἐν τῇ their eldest brother s house; and there came a οἰκία τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου. messenger to Job, and said, The oxen were Καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος ἦλθε πρός Ἰώβ, καὶ εἶπεν plowing and the asses feeding beside them; αὐτῷ. While he was yet speaking, there came another, and said, Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother s house; and behold, a great wind came across the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you. Then Job arose, and rent his robe, and shaved his head, and fell upon the ground, and worshiped. And he said, Naked I came from my mother s womb, and naked shall I return; the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Πύρ ἔπεσεν ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γήν, καὶ κατέκαυσε τὰ πρόβατα, καὶ τοὺς ποιµένας κατέκαυσεν ὁµοίως, καὶ σωθεῖς ἐγὼ µόνος, ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγείλαί σοί. Ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος, ἦλθεν ἕτερος ἄγγελος πρὸς Ἰώβ, καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ. Οἱ ἱππεῖς ἐποίησαν ἡµῖν ἀρχὰς τρεῖς, καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν τὰς καµήλους, καὶ ἠχµαλώτευσαν αὐτάς, καὶ τούς παίδας ἀπέκτειναν ἐν µαχαίραις, ἐσώθην δὲ ἐγὼ µόνος, καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγείλαί σοί. Ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος, ἄλλος ἄγγελος ἔρχεται πρὸς Ἰώβ, λέγων. Τῶν υἱῶν σου καὶ τῶν θυγατέρων σου ἐσθιόντων καὶ πινόντων παρὰ τῶ υἱῶ σου, τῶ ἀδελφῶ αὐτῶν τῶ πρεσβυτέρω, ἐξαίφνης πνεῦµα µέγα ἦλθεν ἀπὸ τῆς ἐρήµου, καὶ ἥψατο τῶν τεσσάρων γωνιῶν τῆς οἰκίας, καὶ ἔπεσεν ἡ οἰκία ἐπὶ τὰ παιδία σου, καὶ ἐτελεύτησαν, καὶ ἐσώθην ἐγὼ µόνος, καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγείλαί σοί. Οὕτως ἀκούσας Ἰώβ, ἀναστὰς διέρρηξε τὰ ἱµάτια αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐκείρατο τὴν κόµην τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ, καὶ πεσῶν χαµαὶ προσεκύνησε τῶ Κυρίω, καὶ εἶπεν, Αὐτὸς γυµνὸς ἐξῆλθον ἐκ κοιλίας µητρός µου, γυµνὸς καὶ ἀπελεύσοµαι ἐκεῖ, ὁ Κύριος ἔδωκεν, ὁ Κύριος ἀφείλετο, ὡς τῶ Κυρίω ἔδοξεν, οὕτω καὶ ἐγένετο, εἴη τὸ ὄνοµα Κυρίου εὐλογηµένον εἰς τούς αἰῶνας. Ἐν τούτοις πᾶσι τοὶς συµβεβηκόσιν αὐτῷ, οὐδὲν ἥµαρτεν Ἰὼβ ἔναντι Κυρίου, οὐδὲ ἐν τοῖς χείλεσιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν ἀφροσύνην τῶ Θεῷ. Τὸ Κατευθηνθήτω.
