BRETHREN, rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.

5 THE PROCLAMATION OF THE HOLY GOSPEL The Gospel According to John 12:1-18 Six days before Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazaros was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; Martha served, and Lazaros was one of those at table with him. Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him), said "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. Jesus said, "Let her alone, let her keep it for the day of my burial. The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me." When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazaros, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests planned to put Lazaros also to death, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus. The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" And Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!" His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazaros out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. 8 WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS HOLY FRIDAY PARKING INFORMATION Worried about finding parking for Holy Friday evening services? Then we have great news! We have received permission from the city to close Goodale Street between High Street and Park Street in order to insure the safety of our parishioners during the Procession of the Kouvouklion. We can take advantage of the street closure to allow for additional parishioner parking that evening. A police officer will be monitoring the parking to insure that it is used by our parishioners only, and to prevent double parking. Please follow their directions. Also, the street closure permit ends at 11:30 p.m. and all cars must be moved no later than 11:00 p.m. so that the street can reopen. Any car remaining after 11:30 p.m. will be towed. HOLY SATURDAY PARKING INFORMATION We have your parking concerns taken care of for Holy Saturday, as well! The City of Columbus has agreed to close Goodale Street between High Street and Park Street for the safety and convenience of our parishioners. Again, a police officer will be monitoring the parking to insure that it is used by our parishioners only, and to prevent double parking. Please follow their directions. The street closure permit ends at 8:00 a.m. Any car remaining after 8:00 a.m. will be towed. Also as a reminder, Holy Saturday morning service is at 10:00 a.m. to accommodate street closures for a race. LENTEN AND HOLY WEEK FLOWER DONATIONS Please consider a donation toward beautifying the church sanctuary as we journey to Pascha (Easter). You may have already noticed some of the icons that were lovingly decorated for the Services in the Church. A list of what is needed can be found at the Candle Stand in the narthex. You may wish to donate in loving memory or for the health of a loved one. Your list of names will be prayed for at every Divine Liturgy thru Pascha. Also, if you are interested in helping with the decorating of the church or the icons during Holy Week, please see Fr. Demetrios. PHILOPTOCHOS JOINT MINISTRY WITH CHURCH SCHOOL A shoe-cutting party to benefit Ugandan children is scheduled for Holy Thursday following the church service. Donate your old denim jeans, skirts, jackets, etc. (preferably no stretch) to the cause. Collection of these items will continue through June. A second shoe cutting event will be announced at a later date. Thank you! ADULT ORTHODOX CATECHISM CLASSES We welcome all Catechumens studying to enter the Orthodox Church, spouses of Orthodox partners, and anyone who is interested in learning more about their Faith. The Fifty Plus Group has arranged a four (4) day three (3) night trip to the Smoky Mountains. We will leave Monday, July 18, 2016 and return Thursday, July 21. This is truly a trip of a lifetime!!! The package includes three (3) nights lodging, three (3) breakfasts, three (3) dinners including the Hatfields and McCoys dinner, three (3) additional shows, a Smoky Mountain Tour, Tour and Tasting Tennessee Moonshine, free time in downtown Gatlinburg, Motorcoach transportation, luggage handling, taxes and meal gratuities. All this for only $469 per person double occupancy, and $578 single occupancy. I need $200 from each person by the end of April and the remainder by the end of May. It has collections from over 22 national museums in Greece. It would be a great vacation for families, churches, and organizations to stop and visit. SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL SACK LUNCH PROGRAM The Sunday Church School makes 175 sack lunches for the Open Shelter twice a month. The Shelter serves individuals who are unable to afford basic needs for their families. The Sunday School needs the support of our community to help meet its commitment to the shelter in order to sustain this program. 11 PHILOPTOCHOS NEW Philoptochos Homeless Shelter Ministry Philoptochos has begun its new ministry with STAR HOUSE to provide youths with food and personal hygiene items. This ministry will be an ongoing program. Please look for the STAR HOUSE container (decorated by the 3 rd and 4 th grade Sunday School class) at the front door every Sunday where donations can be dropped off. STAR HOUSE serves youths ages 14-24, one of the most vulnerable populations worldwide. It is estimated that 1,200 to 1,500 homeless youths and youths in transition exist in Central Ohio. These youths live directly on the streets or in abandoned buildings, or couch surf among friends homes. Most are disconnected from their families, and all are underserved by communities, left to fend for themselves on the fringes of our society. With limited rights and privacy, they have little access to services and supports needed to survive independently. These youths are at high risk for human trafficking, HIV and Hepatitis C infections, and victimization. In 2014, STAR HOUSE served 724 homeless youth that visited the shelter more than 17,000 times. Star House is a 24/7 drop-in shelter where youth can get food, hygiene items, blankets, tents, and other items to help them survive on the streets.
