Hymn for the Transfiguration of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ When O Christ our God Thou wast Transfigured on the mountain Thou didst reveal Thy glory to Thy disciples in proportion as they could bear it. Let Thine everlasting light also enlighten us sinners. By the intercessions of the Theotokos, O Thou Bestower of light, glory to Thee Kontakion Ἐπὶ τοῦ ὄρους μετεμορφώθης, καὶ ὡς ἐχώρουν οἱ Μαθηταί σου τὴν δόξαν σου, Χριστὲ ὁ Θεὸς ἐθεάσαντο, ἵνα ὅταν σε ἴδωσι σταυρούμενον, τὸ μὲν πάθος νοήσωσιν ἑκούσιον, τῷ δὲ κόσμῳ κηρύξωσιν, ὅτι σὺ ὑπάρχεις ἀληθῶς, τοῦ Πατρὸς τὸ ἀπαύγασμα. On the mount Thou wast transfigured, and Thy disciples, as much as they could bear, beheld Thy glory, O Christ our God; that when they should see Thee crucified, they would know Thy Passion to be willing, and would preach to the world that Thou, in truth, art the Effulgence of the Father
Epistle - St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians 4:9-16 B RETHREN, God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are ill-clad and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become, and are now, as the refuse of the world, the off-scouring of all things. I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you, then, be imitators of me. A t that time, a man came up to Him and kneeling before Him said, "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not heal him." And Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me." And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?" He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move hence to yonder place,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. But this kind never comes out except by prayer and fasting." As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day."

August 6 2016 Holy Consecration Godparent Pledge Program Through Holy Tradition, each person from our community is invited to become a Godparent and guardian of the Church by pledging to its Consecration! Through the Holy Sacrament of Baptism, it is our Godparent who affirms our pledge to Christ, witnesses to our putting on of Christ, and walks with us as we adhere to the teachings and sacramental life in the Holy Spirit, guiding us on our journey toward salvation and heaven. The sacred role of the Godparent is to be our sponsor, intercessor, and guardian in the Faith. We are baptized only once in our lifetime. The heavens open, and we are born from Above. Similarly, in the sacred Service of Consecration, a Church building and the land upon which it rests, is consecrated only once, in its entire history. We are blessed to be THE generation from the history of our Church, to witness to and participate in this holy event as Godparents! Through Holy Tradition, each person of the community is invited to become a Godparent and guardian of the Church by pledging to its Consecration! We are called to reaffirm our commitment, to consecrate our own hearts and pledge our gifts to Christ. We are called to be sanctified as the Temple of the Holy Spirit, as His Church Temple is Consecrated and made holy unto God. As members of Transfiguration, the fullness of the Church is manifested through the expansion of a vibrant spiritual life, the creation of ministries that are responsive to the needs of the faithful, and programs that enrich the mind, body, and soul. We invite you to participate in this once in a lifetime holy event of our community. We invite each and every one of our faithful to be a Godparent of Transfiguration by consecrating ourselves and one another and our whole life unto Christ our God, through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. We have increased the number of our retreats and educational opportunities. We have pledged to improve our ministries both within and without our community. And we have created an important pledge and sponsorship program so that we may continue to complete God s Holy Temple, the Church Sanctuary, by building the processional walkway around the entire perimeter of the Church. Together, we will walk towards Holy Consecration, following the Saints and His Eminence around a perimeter that forever receives God s holy love and sanctification.
