I look forward to coming to school. Sometimes I feel like I don t belong at this school. I try hard to get good grades so I can get into college. I can t stand doing schoolwork. I can get good grades in school. When we work on something in class, I feel bored. In school, I don t work very hard. I can do well in school if I want to. I need to learn a lot in school so I can take charge of my future. When a class is too much work, I just don t do it. B. How do I feel about School? bit If I decide to learn something hard, I can. I can't stop myself from doing poorly in school. I feel like a real part of my school. I can't do well in school, even if I want to. If a class is really hard, I ll probably do badly in it. I don t care about getting good grades. I want to learn a lot in school so that I can give back to my community. This school is a good place for students like me. I really don t care about school. C. Why do I do my SCHOOL WORK? bit Because it s fun. Because it s interesting. Because that's the rule. Because we are learning important things. Because the teacher says we have to. Because doing well in school is important to me.

About my SCIENCE class: bit I work as hard as I can in science. Science is interesting. I don t try very hard in science. Science is fun. When we work on science, I feel bored. I can t stand working on science. My science teacher loves science. My science teacher enjoys teaching us about science. L. What do I think about the Learning Gardens? bit Gardening is boring. There s no reason to garden. I feel at home in the Learning Gardens. By gardening, we can make the world a better place. M. About the LEARNING GARDENS: bit I know a lot about gardening. It's not that important to learn about plants. I feel like a real part of the Learning Gardens. I am pretty good at gardening. The Learning Gardens is a good place for students like me. I am proud to be part of the gardens. I don't care if I miss gardening class. I am not very good at gardening. I am an important part of making the gardens better. I try hard to do well in the garden. I don't have the brains to garden. The Learning Garden makes our school special.

N. What I learned in the Garden: bit I learned how I can treat the environment better. I learned how plants grow. Gardening is something we can do to help the planet. I learned I can make a garden grow at home. I learned about things I like to eat that I did not like before. I learned what other people from other cultures grow and eat. I learned how to do science-- experimenting, measuring, observing, finding out new facts. Gardening is interesting. O. When I m in the Garden: bit I feel good. I'd rather be doing just about anything else but gardening. I can't wait for it to be over. My mind wanders, and I think about other things. I feel like we are doing something good for the environment. I just act like I'm working. I listen carefully to our gardening teacher. P. Why do I garden? bit I enjoy it. It makes me feel like I'm doing something good for my school. So I can learn important things. They make us. It's fun. That's the rule. Our teacher said we had to; otherwise I probably would not. It's cool to see things grow. Q. What do I think about the PEOPLE in the GARDEN? bit Our Garden teachers work hard to teach us about gardening. The Garden teachers like me. The Garden teachers are good at explaining how to garden. Our Garden teachers love teaching us about the environment. The Garden teachers listen to my ideas. Our Garden teachers think gardening is important. The Garden teachers make learning fun.
