EVENTS OVERVIEW BY TYPE OF EVENT (workshop, demo, training, match making) (1/2 page per event (workshop, demo, training, match making) Workshops The main goal of this event was to promote energy contracting model and applications in Styria, through showing successful examples and presenting existing properties of the model in real case and providing information about technical, economical, including financing, and operational issues. Some presentations were been conducted, during this study tour focusing on: The current know-how for energy contracting QA/QC system and wood biomass quality measurements Energy contracting schemes Operation and management for heat production and supply Cooperation of farmers Heat delivery Production, process and supply chain, including storage Study tour Participants visited the following energy contracting applications: Primary and secondary school of St. Margarethen BiomasstradeCenter in Leoben Energy contracting project in Kraubath A two days study tour, well organized, provided very helpful information and successful bioenergy examples (e.g. energy contracting) and efficient biomass supply chain (B.T.C.). Also new information was disseminated, regarding creation of new activities (forest owners, farmers, producers of woody biofuels, machinery owners (or rings) in the fields of biomass exploitation and heat supply. The region of Styria represents a good practice example, promoting the successful cooperation between biomass producers (farmers, forest owners), local authorities, local communities, equipment manufacturers and final bioenergy users. 4

3. FEDBECKS FROM PARTICIPANTS (questioners evaluation) Participants in WP4 events gave their opinion about Energy Contracting Successful examples of cooperation of people working in rural areas, like farmers and forest owners Energy contracting looks as a feasible use of available bio-resources under efficient technology and equipment for energy exploitation. The use of local biomass resources in combination with locally manufactured heating equipment support the regional development and the local economy. This successful scheme supports the increment of financial profit in the region and boosts investments in regional economy and its efficiency. The biomass contracting could support the efficient implementation of biomass for energy use, the local economy, the acceptance of biomass resources and its penetration in the regional energy balance and finally the community as a whole. Energy Contracting is a good option for biomass producers which extents professional activities in the fields of heat production and supply. Implementation of Energy contracting in Greece looks as a good solution for rural areas but people and stakeholders need more information For implementation and investments more work has to be done. Potential investors will need more information and technical support. 5
