Hymns for today Resurrection Hymn (First Tone) Τοῦ λίθου σφραγισθέντος ὑπὸ τῶν Ἰουδαίων, καὶ στρατιωτῶν φυλασσόντων τὸ ἄχραντόν σου σῶµα, ἀνέστης τριήµερος Σωτήρ, δωρούµενος τῷ κόσµῳ τὴν ζωήν. Tu lithu sfragisthentos ipo ton Iutheon, ke stratioton filassonton to ahranton Su soma, anestis triimeros Sotir, thorumenos to kosmo tin zoin. Thia tuto e thinamis ton uranon evoon si Zoothota. Thoxa ti Anastasi Su Christe, Thoxa ti Vasilia Su, Thoxa ti ikonomia Su, mone filanthrope. The stone that had been sealed before Your tomb by the Jews and the soldiers guarding did watch oe r Your pure and sacred body O Savior the third day You arose, and unto all the world did You give life where by all the heavenly powers did proclaim that You are the giver of life Glory unto our resurrected Christ, Glory unto Your Kingdom, Glory to Your dispensation O You alone who loves all. Hymn for the Great Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos Εν τή Γεννήσει τήν παρθενίαν εφύλαξας, έν τή Κοιµήσει τόν κόσµον ού κατέλιπες Θεοτόκε, Μετέστης πρός τήν ζωήν, µήτηρ υπάρχουσα τής ζωής, καί ταίς πρεσβείαις ταίς σαίς λυτρουµένη, εκ θανάτου τάς ψυχάς ηµών. In giving birth, thou did preserve thy virginity; in thy dormition, thou did not forsake the world, O Theotokos. Thou was translated unto life, since thou art the Mother of Life; and by thine intercessions do thou redeem our souls from death. Hymn for the Transfiguration of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Metemorfothis en to ori, Christe o Theos, dixas tis mathites Sou tin doxan Sou, kathos i dynando Lampson ke imin tis amartolis to fos Sou to aidion, presvies tis Theotokou Fotodota doxa Si. When O Christ our God Thou wast Transfigured on the mountain Thou didst reveal Thy glory to Thy disciples in proportion as they could bear it. Let Thine everlasting light also enlighten us sinners. Through the intercessions of the Theotokos, O Thou Bestower of light, glory to Thee. Kontakion for the Dormition of the Theotokos Τήν εν πρεσβείαις ακοίµητον Θεοτόκον, καί προστασίαις αµετάθετον ελπίδα, τάφος καί νέκρωσις ουκ εκράτησεν, ως γάρ ζωής Μητέρα, πρός τήν ζωήν µετέστησεν, ο µήτραν οικήσας αειπάρθενον. The grave and death could not hold the Theotokos, who is unsleeping in her intercessions and an unfailing hope in her mediations. For as the Mother of Life she was translated to life by Him Who dwelt in her ever virgin womb.
Epistle - Corinthians 4: 9-16 BRETHREN, God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men. We are fools for Christʹs sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are ill-clad and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become, and are now, as the refuse of the world, the off-scouring of all things. I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you, then, be imitators of me.
Gospel - St. Matthew 17: 14-23 At that time, a man came up to Him and kneeling before Him said, ʺLord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not heal him.ʺ And Jesus answered, ʺO faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.ʺ And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ʺWhy could we not cast it out?ʺ He said to them, ʺBecause of your li le faith. For truly I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ʹMove hence to yonder place,ʹ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. But this kind never comes out except by prayer and fasting.ʺ As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, ʺThe Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.ʺ Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἐλθόντων αὐτῶν πρὸς τὸν ὄχλον προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ ἄνθρωπος γονυπετῶν αὐτὸν καὶ λέγων Κύριε, ἐλέησόν µου τὸν υἱόν, ὅτι σεληνιάζεται καὶ κακῶς πάσχει πολλάκις γὰρ πίπτει εἰς τὸ πῦρ καὶ πολλάκις εἰς τὸ ὕδωρ.

Our miracle baby: Abigail Grace Nikas We want to thank each and every one of you for your countless prayers and immeasurable kindness while our daughter was in the hospital. Our words fail to express the gra tude that we feel, and we are humbled by the support and unfathomable generosity that we have received. Abigail's recovery has been nothing short of miraculous and we have no doubt that it was through the strength of your prayers and God's interven on that she came back to us. We also want to express a special thank you to Father Vasileios. He was with us when Abigail's outlook was most grim, and during that unimaginable me he was our rock. We turned to him for strength and guidance, and his calming and peaceful demeanor was felt by everyone. He has been the key in restoring our faith and belief that miracles are possible. Transfigura on Church is truly a special community, unlike any that we have ever known. You've embraced us like family and for that we will always be grateful. From the bo om of our hearts we thank you, The Nikas Family.
