ST. VASILIOS PTA MAY DAY WINE/BEER TASTING EPISTLE READING St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 1:10-14; 2:1-3 Prokeimenon. Mode 2. Psalm 117.14,18 The Lord is my strength and my song. Verse: The Lord has chastened me sorely. "IN THE BEGINNING, Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of thy hands; they will perish, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment, like a mantle thou wilt roll them up, and they will be changed. But thou art the same, and thy years will never end." But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation? Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him. If you are using your foot to lower the kneeler please have your foot support the kneeler until it gently touches the floor. The multiple banging of the kneelers is a great distraction at the most solemn moment of the Divine Liturgy. Thank you for your attention to this issue. FROM OUR CHOIR For the last 2 weeks our Family Choir was singing downstairs instead of the choir loft. We appreciate all the positive comments we have received. Out goal is always to encourage congregational singing, especially on this Holy Season of Lent. We will occasionally leave the comfort of our choir loft to be closer to you. If you have any questions please see myself or Marietta Brooks. Tony Vatousios LENTEN SOUP SALE The St. Vasilios YOCAMA Team will begin its annual Lenten soup sale today at coffee hour. Soups will be available on March 27, April 3 and April 17. Today we have a delicious veggie Chili. 4 17

GOSPEL READING Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas The Gospel according to Mark 2:1-12 At that time, Jesus entered Capernaum and it was reported that he was at home. And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the door; and he was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven." Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, "Why does this man speak thus? It is a blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"-he said to the paralytic-"i say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home." And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED In 1877, The Fresh Air Fund, an independent not-for-profit organization, was created with one simple mission to allow children living in low-income New York City boroughs to get away from the hot, noisy city streets and enjoy free summer experiences in the country.every year, thousands of Fresh Air children visit rural, suburban, and small town communities, called "Friendly Towns". Friendly Towns are made up of people like you, who offer to open their homes for a week or two during the summer, and each Friendly Town is managed by volunteer leaders. I live in Salem, Ma. and have been hosting Fresh Air Fund children for fifteen years and represent the North of Boston Friendly Town area for the Fund. LENTEN SERIES OF SPEAKERS March 30: Fr. Thomas FitzGerald Topic: Great Synod and the place of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in world Orthodoxy Please join us for a truly unique opportunity to hear Fr. FitzGerald discuss contemporary Orthodoxy including how we relate with Russian Orthodoxy and the Catholic Church as well as the bonds and fissures that unite and divide us. Catering provided by New Brothers in Danvers. April 13: Fr. Akilviadis Calivas Topic: "Living the mystery of Holy Week and Pascha". Please join us for Pre-Sanctified Liturgy and light Lenten supper before the talks. WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly, the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives, only Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church. If you have any questions or concerns please speak with Father Chris. 10 WEEKDAY SERVICES Monday, March 28 7 p.m. Compline Wednesday, March 30 Presanctified Liturgy 6 pm Friday, April 1 Salutations to the Theotokos 7pm Monday, April 4 Compline 7pm Wednesday, April 6 Presanctified Liturgy 8 am Friday, April 8 Salutations to the Theotokos 7 pm Monday, April 11 7 pm Compline Wednesday, April 13 Presanctified Liturgy 6 pm Friday, April 15 Akathist 7 p.m. Monday, April 18 7 p.m. Compline Wednesday, April 20 Presanctified Liturgy 8 am Saturday, April 23 Saturday of Lazarus 8:00 am Orthros 9:00 am Divine Liturgy KAQHMERINES IERES AKOLOUQIES Apo/deipnon to Me/ga Deute/ra, 28 Marti/ou 7:00 m.m.
