We are so happy that you are worshipping with us today! If you are visiting, please fill out a "Visitor Information Card," located in the Narthex, and give it to a Parish Council member at the candle stand in the Narthex. If you are an Orthodox Christian new to the Columbus area, or if you would like to know more about becoming an Orthodox Christian, please introduce yourself to one of the priests who would be most happy to meet with you and discuss membership in our Cathedral. It is our desire that you make the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral your spiritual home! May God richly bless you and your family! FOR THE RECEPTION OF HOLY COMMUNION We welcome all Christians not fully united with us. It is a consequence of the sad divisions of Christianity that we cannot extend to all a general invitation to receive Holy Communion. Orthodox Christians believe that the Eucharist is an action of the celebrating community signifying an oneness in faith, life, and worship. Reception of the Eucharist by Christians not fully united with us would imply a oneness which does not yet exist and for which we must all pray. TODAY WE COMMEMORATE Elizabeth the Wonderworker, Savvas the General of Rome

MAY THE LORD REMEMBER All of us in His heavenly kingdom, always now and forever unto the ages of ages. Amen MISSION STATEMENT OF OUR PARISH Our community, united in our Orthodox Christian faith, aspires to live a Christ-centered life as set forth by our Holy Tradition. Strengthened by our Hellenic culture and the actions and sacrifices of our Greek-American founders and predecessors, we live as one, multicultural parish family sharing Christ s love in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. CORE VALUES We renew our faith continually through active participation in worship, sacraments, discipleship and prayer. We experience a sense of acceptance, joy, peace, belonging and koinonia to all in our community and to all those that walk through our doors as one family. We follow Jesus command to Go Forth by sharing Christ s love beyond our cathedral walls to those in physical and spiritual need. We are responsible to inspire and reach future generations on the traditions and values of living our Orthodox faith. We commit, in thanksgiving, our time, talent and treasure to support our cathedral by safeguarding the ministerial, physical and financial needs to ensure the health of His Church and to further the Gospel message now and in the future, and we create an environment where we respect our collective cultural identities while celebrating our Hellenic traditions, history, language and heritage.
Hymns for This Morning For the Feast, Mode 1 Τὴν κοινὴν Ἀνάστασιν πρὸ τοῦ σοῦ Πάθους πιστούµενος, ἐκ νεκρῶν ἤγειρας τὸν Λάζαρον, Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός ὅθεν καὶ ἡµεῖς ὡς οἱ Παῖδες, τὰ τῆς νίκης σύµβολα φέροντες, σοὶ τῷ Νικητῇ τοῦ θανάτου βοῶµεν Ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις, εὐλογηµένος ὁ ἐρχόµενος, ἐν ὀνόµατι Κυρίου. To confirm the general resurrection before Your Passion, You resurrected Lazarus from the dead, O Christ our God. Therefore imitating the children, carrying the symbols of victory, we cry out to You the Victor over death: "Hosanna in the highest! Blessed are You, the One, who comes in the name of the Lord." Σῶσον ἡµᾶς Υἱὲ Θεοῦ, ὁ ἐπὶ πώλου ὄνου καθεσθείς, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Save us, O Son of God, who sat on a donkey's colt. We were buried with You through Baptism, O Christ our God, and thus by Your Resurrection we have been granted immortal life, and extolling You we cry aloud, "Hosanna in the highest! Blessed are You, the One who comes in the name of the Lord." In heaven upon the throne, on earth upon the colt, You were carried, O Christ our God; and the praise of the Angels, and the hymns of the children, You received as they cried to You, "Blessed are You, the One, who is coming to call Adam back again."
PROKEIMENON St. Paul's Letter to the Philippians 4:4-9 Psalm 117.26,1 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Verse: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His mercy endures forever. BRETHREN, rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.
THE PROCLAMATION OF THE HOLY GOSPEL The Gospel According to John 12:1-18 Six days before Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazaros was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; Martha served, and Lazaros was one of those at table with him. Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him), said "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. Jesus said, "Let her alone, let her keep it for the day of my burial. The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me." When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazaros, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests planned to put Lazaros also to death, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus. The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" And Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!" His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazaros out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.

PHILOPTOCHOS NEW Philoptochos Homeless Shelter Ministry Philoptochos has begun its new ministry with STAR HOUSE to provide youths with food and personal hygiene items. This ministry will be an ongoing program. Please look for the STAR HOUSE container (decorated by the 3 rd and 4 th grade Sunday School class) at the front door every Sunday where donations can be dropped off. STAR HOUSE serves youths ages 14-24, one of the most vulnerable populations worldwide. It is estimated that 1,200 to 1,500 homeless youths and youths in transition exist in Central Ohio. These youths live directly on the streets or in abandoned buildings, or couch surf among friends homes. Most are disconnected from their families, and all are underserved by communities, left to fend for themselves on the fringes of our society. With limited rights and privacy, they have little access to services and supports needed to survive independently. These youths are at high risk for human trafficking, HIV and Hepatitis C infections, and victimization. In 2014, STAR HOUSE served 724 homeless youth that visited the shelter more than 17,000 times. Star House is a 24/7 drop-in shelter where youth can get food, hygiene items, blankets, tents, and other items to help them survive on the streets. Current STAR HOUSE needs are: High Priority Items Needed Flash Drives (to store electronic documents) Bike locks (metal preferred) Tents/Tarps Food Items Needed Single-Serve microwavable packaged foods Ramen noodles Tuna/salmon pouches Fruit and pudding in single-serve cups Hygiene Items Needed Hand sanitizers (travel sized) Shampoo Toothpaste and brushes Deodorant Combs and brushes Lip Balm Soap/body lotions Other Items Blankets Backpacks / Drawstring / Tote Bags Towels and washcloths Please contact Diane Chakalis if you have any questions at dichakal@gmail.com
