Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church April / May 2013 Page 1 Ο ΛΟΓΟΣ ΤΟΥ ΘΕΟΥ: ΠΑΣΧΑ 2013 Ο ΚΥΡΙΟΣ ΚΑΙ ΣΩΤΗΡ ΗΜΩΝ ΙΗΣΟΥΣ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ Αγαπητοί μου ευλαβείς Χριστιανοί, «Χριστὸς ἀνέστη ἐκ νεκρῶν, θανάτῳ θάνατον πατήσας, καὶ τοῖς ἐν τοῖς μνήμασι, ζωὴν χαρισάμενος!» Σε λίγες μέρες τελειώνει η ευλογημένη περίοδος της Μεγάλης Τεσσαρακοστής. Εν συνέχεια θα ακολουθήσουμε τον Κύριο μας Ιησού Χριστού μέχρι την Σταύρωση Του, περιμένοντας την Ένδοξη Ανάσταση Του. Την παραμονή του Πάσχα, όταν έρθουμε στην εκκλησία για να ψάλλουμε όλοι μαζί το «Χριστός Aνέστη» και να συμπροσευχηθούμε στην Θεία Λειτουργία, η Ορθόδοξος Εκκλησία θα αρχίσει να ανακηρύξει το Λόγο του Θεού, με τα ιερά λόγια του Αγ. Ιωάννου του Ευαγγελιστού, «Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ Λόγος, καὶ ὁ Λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν Θεόν, καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ Λόγος. Οὗτος ἦν ἐν ἀρχῇ πρὸς τὸν Θεόν, πάντα δι' αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο, καὶ χωρὶς αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο οὐδὲ ἕν ὃ γέγονεν, ἐν αὐτῷ ζωὴ ἦν, καὶ ἡ ζωὴ ἦν τὸ φῶς τῶν ἀνθρώπων,καὶ τὸ φῶς ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ φαίνει, καὶ ἡ σκοτία αὐτὸ οὐ κατέλαβεν.» (Ιωαν. α 1-5) Ολόκρηρη, η Αγία Γραφή περιλαμβάνει το Λόγο του Θεού που ενεργεί με πράξει. Π.χ., στην Γέννηση, ο Θεός δημιούργησε διαμέσου το Λόγου Του, «Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν, ἡ δὲ γῆ ἦν ἀόρατος καὶ ἀκατασκεύαστος καὶ σκότος ἐπάνω τῆς ἀβύσσου καὶ πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐπεφέρετο ἐπάνω τοῦ ὕδατος, καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός γενηθήτω φῶς καὶ ἐγένετο φῶς.» (Γεν. α 1-3). Επίσης, ο Θεός έδωσε το Λόγο Του στον Μωησή με τις Δέκα Εντολές στον Ορο Σίνα, «εἱστήκει δὲ ὁ λαὸς μακρόθεν μωυσῆς δὲ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν γνόφον οὗ ἦν ὁ θεός, εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς μωυσῆν τάδε ἐρεῖς τῷ οἴκῳ ιακωβ καὶ ἀναγγελεῖς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραήλ ὑμεῖς ἑωράκατε ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ λελάληκα πρὸς ὑμᾶς.» (Εξ. κ 21-22). Ακόμη, ο Θεός καθοδηγήσε τον Ισραήλ προς την μετάνοια με το Λόγο Του, «λούσασθε καθαροὶ γένεσθε ἀφέλετε τὰς πονηρίας ἀπὸ τῶν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν ἀπέναντι τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου παύσασθε ἀπὸ τῶν πονηριῶν ὑμῶν.» (Ησαία α 16). Τέλος, ο Θεός μας χάρισε και μας μίλησε διαμέσου τον Μονογενή του Υιό τον Κύριο μας Ιησού Χριστό για την σωτηρία μας, «Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ Λόγος, καὶ ὁ Λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν Θεόν, καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ Λόγος.» (Ιωαν. α 1) Ο Αγ. Ιωάννης ο Θεολόγος και Ευαγγελιστής μας παρουσιάζει τον Ένσαρκο Λόγο του Θεού, τον Σωτήρα του κόσμο και Κύριο μας Ιησού Χριστό, ο οποίος είναι η Οδός, η Αλήθεια, το Φώς του κόσμου, η Ανάστασις και η Ζωή, ο Λυτρωτής και Λόγος που χορηγεί την ζωή. Από την ημέρα του Πάσχα μέχρι την Πεντηκοστή, συναντάμε το Λόγο του Θεού μέσα στις περικοπές του κατά Ιωάννην Ευαγγελίου. Όπως φτάνουμε στην Μεγάλη Εβδομάδα και εν συνέχεια το Πάσχα και στην Πεντηκοστή, ας καταβάλουμε κάθε προσπάθεια στο πνευματικό μας αγώνα και ας συνεχίσουμε να προετιμαστούμε με νηστεία, με ελεημοσύνη, με προσευχή (προσωπική και στις ιερές Ακολουθίες), με ειλικρίνεια και καθαρή καρδιά συμμετέχοντας στο Ιερό Μυστήριο της Θείας Εξομολόγησις και προπαντός με σωστή συμμετοχή στην Θεία Κοινωνία. Έτσι, με αυτό το τρόπο να έρθουμε να συναντήσουμε τον μοναδικό αληθινό Θεό, τον Πατέρα, τον Υιό και Ένσαρκο Λόγο του Θεού, και το ζωοδότη Άγιο Πνεύμα! ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ ΑΝΕΣΤΗ! Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church April / May 2013 Page 2 THE WORD OF GOD: PASCHA 2013 OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, As the blessed period of Great Lent comes to a close, we are entering into Holy Week where we will witness and participate in our Lord Jesus Christ s Passion and His Glorious Resurrection. On the Eve of Easter, when we have lit our paschal candles during the Paschal Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, the Orthodox Church begins reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:1-5) The Biblical God found in the Holy Scriptures is God who speaks through action. For example, in the book of Genesis, we know God creates through His Word, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and the darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light ; and there was light. (Genesis 1:1-3). Also, God gave His Word to Moses on Mount Sinai in the 10 Commandments: Ánd the Lord said to Moses, Thus you shall say to the people of Israel: You have seen for yourselves that I have spoken with you from heaven. (Exodus 20:21-22) Furthermore, God spoke His Word through His prophets in order to bring His elect people Israel back to repentance, Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; remove all evil of your doings from before My eyes. (Isaiah 1:16). Finally, God gave us and spoke to us through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, for our redemption and salvation, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-5) John the Evangelist presents us with the Incarnate Word, our Lord and Saviour, Who is the way, the truth, and the life; the light of the world; the resurrection and the life; the One Who calls us to repentance; the Word Who corrects and admonishes us; and the Word Who is lifegiving. Beginning on Pascha (Easter) and continuing for the next 50 days, we will encounter the Word of God through the witness of the Holy Gospel of St. John the Theologian. As we approach Holy Week, Pascha and then Pentecost, let us make good use of this blessed opportunity to continue our spiritual struggle with fasting, charity, prayer (personally at home and communally in the Church), with sincerity and purity of soul by participating in Holy Confession and, thus, properly coming to receive Holy Communion. In this way, may we all come to the knowledge and experience of the One, True Living God, our Father, Who reveals Himself through our Risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the very Word of life, and His Holy Life-Giving Spirit! It is truly a beautiful and spiritually uplifting time of the Church year when our Church family can come together in God s love, in faith and prayer, in order to become closer to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is with this spirit of communion that the new Church Community Council has begun its new term for 2013-2014. Please join us in thanking and extending our sincerest appreciation to our 2011-2012 President, Mr. Kyriacos Ioannou, who, with all the members of the Church Community Council, the Ladies of Philoptochos, the Church Ministries, and with the spiritual guidance of Fr. Konstantine Chatzis, worked tirelessly, faithfully and respectfully together for the betterment of our Church Community. We plan on building on these achievements, fostering the relationships between our various Church groups and Parishioners that form our Church family, and continuing with new initiatives to meet our growing and changing needs. To succeed in our future endeavors requires a united effort. As we offer our Stewardship commitment for 2013, it is also important to look at how we use our time to help our Church and its Ministry Programs to grow. We all need to take an active role and increase our engagement in our Church family. This will result in greater personal satisfaction and serenity in our lives. Also, our individual contribution, however large or small, will make the difference in how our Church community grows. We await and welcome all our faithful Parishioners with open arms and look forward to the increased participation of our youth. This year, our Greek Food Festival, one of the biggest and most relevant fundraising events of the year, will take place on June 8 th - 9 th, 2013. We are greatly in need of many volunteers, so please fill out one of our Volunteer Forms included in this newsletter and submit it to our church office, or contact us by email on our website www.stspeterandpaulgoc.ca. Please read this Newsletter carefully and mark the key dates for all the upcoming events in your calendars. Please pay special attention to the following: 1. Elevation to the Office of Oikonomos: Following the announcement by the Metropolitan Archbishop, presiding over Divine Liturgy March 10 th, we are planning a joyous celebration in honour of Rev. Father Konstantine Chatzis for his Elevation to the Office of Oikonomos. All are invited to attend the ceremony Tuesday, May 21 st, 2013, 7-8 pm in our Church, immediately followed by a dinner reception and celebration in the Church Hall. 2. A General Assembly meeting will be held on Sunday, May 26 th at 3 pm. in the Church Hall. It is very important that all of our Members attend this meeting so that we can discuss our progress and the future needs of our Church Community, with particular emphasis on our youth. We, therefore, encourage specifically more of our Young Family Members to attend this General Assembly to participate in our discussions. We welcome you all and invite your participation to help guide our future successes. It is of the utmost importance that All Members take this opportunity to stay informed and provide valued input as we build our new initiatives together. During the term 2013-2014, I will have the pleasure of working with a very diverse, talented and experienced Church Community Council. We can only be effective in bettering our Church and our Community with your support and participation. We all understand that the only way forward is to all work together with a common vision supported through the foundations of our Greek Orthodox Christian Faith, guided by our Church Fathers. With this in mind, we can continue to grow our Ministry Programs, helping our Church Community to prosper. We must continue to build our Faith, and work in harmony to nurture our Church family, while at the same time enriching our lives through our Greek Orthodox Christian Faith. This is the opportunity to set the course for a better future. Your participation, support and stewardship are vital and welcome in this process. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church April / May 2013 Page 4 Δ ι ο ι κ η τ ι κ ο ύ Σ υ μ β ο υ λ ί ο υ Η Μεγάλη Τεσσαρακοστή μας έδωσε την ευκαιρία να προσφέρουμε την αγάπη μας και τις υπηρεσίες μας σε όλες τις ιερές Ακολουθίες κατά την διάρκεια της ευλογημένης Πασχαλινής περιόδου. Είναι πραγματικά μια όμορφη και πνευματικά κατανυκτική περίοδος στο Εκκλησιαστικό Ετος, κατά την οποία η χριστιανική μας κοινότητα συγκεντρώνεται σαν μία οικογένεια κάτω από την αγάπη του Θεού, με πίστη και προσευχή, για να πλησιάσει πιό κοντά στον Κύριο και Σωτήρα μας Ιησού Χριστό. Είναι μ αυτό το πνεύμα της πνευματικής ομοψυχίας που το νέο μας Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο έχει αρχίσει τη θητεία του για την περίοδο 2013-2014. Σας καλούμε να εκφράσετε μαζί μας την ειλικρινή μας εκτίμηση και τις ευχαριστίες στον Πρόεδρο της προηγούμενης θητείας 2011-2012 κ. Κυριάκο Ιωάννου, ο οποίος με όλα τα μέλη του Διοικ. Συμβουλίου, τις Κυρίες της Φιλοπτώχου, τους διαφόρους επιτρόπους και βοηθούς της Εκκλησίας και με την πνευματική καθοδήγηση του Ιερέως μας αιδ.π. Κωνσταντίνου εργάσθηκε πιστά, μέ σεβασμό πρός όλους και χωρίς να υπολογίσει κόπους για το καλό και την πρόοδο της Κοινότητάς μας. Εμείς σχεδιάζουμε να "κτίσουμε" πάνω σ αυτές τις επιτυχίες τους, βελτιώνοντας τις σχέσεις μεταξύ των διαφόρων Εκκλησιαστικών Επιτροπών και των μελών της Κοινότητας -που όλοι μας αποτελούμε την ίδια εκκλησιαστική οικογένεια- και συνεχίζοντας με νέες πρωτοβουλίες για ν αντιμετωπίσουμε τις αυξανόμενες ανάγκες που κάθε τόσο παρουσιάζονται. Για να επιτύχουμε στις μελλοντικές μας αυτές προσπάθειες, απαιτούνται αγώνες με ενότητα. Εφ όσον προσφερθήκαμε μόνοι μας και υποσχεθήκαμε να αναλάβουμε αυτό το Έργο για το 2013, είναι επίσης σπουδαίο να δούμε πως θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε τον χρόνο μας για να βοηθήσουμε την Εκκλησία μας, ώστε να πάνε μπροστά τα διάφορα προγράμματά της για την καλύτερη εξυπηρέτηση των μελών μας. Είναι υποχρέωση όλων μας να αναλάβουμε ενεργό ρόλο και να έχουμε συμμετοχή στο έργο της Εκκλησίας μας γιατί είμαστε μία εκκλησιαστική οικογένεια. Το αποτέλεσμα θα είναι ικανοποίηση και ένα αίσθημα γαλήνης στη ζωή μας. Επί πλέον, η προσωπική μας προσφορά, είτε μικρή είτε μεγάλη, θα δείξει το πως η Κοινότητά μας θα βαδίζει σε πρόοδο. Τα χέρια μας θα είναι ανοιχτά με αγάπη και εκτίμηση για να δεχθούν την προθυμία όλων των πιστών μελών της Κοινότητάς μας. Επίσης, περιμένουμε και πιστεύουμε να δούμε ν αυξάνεται η συμμετοχή των νέων παιδιών της Κοινότητάς μας. Εφέτος το "Greek Food Festival" της Εκκλησίας μας, που είναι μιά από τις σπουδαιότερες οικονομικές εκδηλώσεις μας, θα γίνει στις 8-9 Ιουνίου. Εχουμε απόλυτη ανάγκη από πολλούς εθελοντές. Παρακαλούμε, συμπληρώσετε ένα από τα εσώκλειστα έντυπα "Volunteer Forms" και παραδώσετε το στο Γραφείο της Εκκλησίας, ή επικοινωνήσετε μαζί μας με email στη διεύθυνση www.stspeterandpaulgoc.ca. Παρακαλούμε, σημειώστε στο ημερολόγιό σας τις κατωτέρω ημερομηνίες και δώστε ιδιαίτερη προσοχή. 1. Χειροθεσία "Οικονόμου". Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση του Σεβασμιωτάτου Μητροπολίτου μας κατά την Θεία Λειτουργία που ετέλεσε στην Εκκλησία μας στις 10 Μαρτίου, ο Ιερέας μας αιδ.π. Κωνσταντίνος Χατζής θα λάβει με χειροθεσία τον εκκλησιαστικόν οφίκιον του "Οικονόμου" το βράδυ στο Μέγα Εσπερινό τις 21 Μαïου εφέτος. Η Κοινότητά μας θα γιορτάσει την μεγάλη τιμή για τον Ιερέα μας με Γεύμα στην αίθουσα της Εκκλησίας μετά το Μέγα Εσπερινό. 2. Γενική Συνέλευση θα πραγματοποιηθεί εφέτος την Κυριακή, 26 η Maïου στις 3:00 μμ. στην Αίθουσα της Εκκλησίας. Είναι ιδιαίτερα σπουδαίο, όπως όλα τα μέλη μας παρευρεθούν για να συζητήσουμε την μέχρι τώρα πρόοδο της Κοινότητάς μας και τις μελλοντικές μας ανάγκες. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση θα δώσουμε στη νεολαία μας. Ιδιαίτερη συνεπώς σύσταση κάνομε στα νέα παιδιά να λάβουν μέρος στη Συνέλευση και να συμμετάσχουν στις συζητήσεις μας. Αντιλαμβανόμαστε όλοι ότι είναι επιτακτική ανάγκη να έχουμε την ευκαιρία να πληροφορηθούμε για την τωρινή κατάσταση της Κοινότητος και για να προσφέρουμε πολύτιμες προτάσεις και σκέψεις όσον αφορά τις νέες πρωτοβουλίες που σχεδιάζουμε να λάβουμε. Κατά την θητεία 2013-2014 θα έχω την τιμή και την χαρά να συνεργασθώ με μιά ποικιλία νέων μελών του Διοικ. Συμβουλίου που διαθέτουν και πείρα και ικανότητες. Θα είμαστε αποτελεσματικοί στο έργο για την πρόοδο της Κοινότητος μόνον όταν έχουμε την δική σας ενίσχυση, ενθάρρυνση και συμμετοχή. Ολοι καταλαβαίνομε ότι ο μόνος τρόπος να πάμε μπροστά είναι να δουλέψουμε όλοι ενωμένοι με το όραμα να στερεώσουμε την Ελληνορθόδοξο Χριστιανική μας Πίστη με την καθοδήγηση των Πατέρων της Εκκλησίας μας. Ετσι θα μπορέσουμε να δώσουμε νόημα και πνευματικό πλούτο στη ζωή μας, και ακόμη, να μπούμε στο δρόμο για ένα καλύτερο μέλλον στην Κοινότητά μας. Εκ μέρους όλων των αγαπητών μελών του Διοικητικού μας Συμβουλίου εύχομαι σε όλους μας να γιορτάσουμε με λαμπρότητα το ευλογημένο Ορθόδοξο Πάσχα μας. Χριστός Ανέστη! Αληθώς Ανέστη!! Our goal is to provide support to people and programs within our Parish and Community at large, as well as address the needs of our church. On Feb. 10 th, we held our annual St. Philothei Dinner and with your support this luncheon was a great success. A portion of the proceeds were donated to Anselma House (an organization providing shelter and support to abused women and children). Our next luncheon will be held Palm Sunday, April 28 th, 2013 after Service in the Church Hall. We invite you all to come and celebrate together as one family, as we prepare for Holy Week and the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I wish to thank all members of Philoptochos wholeheartedly, whose hard work, dedication, support, and talents have made our philanthropic mission a success. I welcome all the ladies of our Community to become members of the Philoptochos and to help support us in this worthwhile cause in any way they can. The next month will be busy with preparations for Easter, followed by preparations for our community s Greek Food Festival. Please consider volunteering your time and talents. Κύριος σκοπός μας είναι να προσφέρουμε ενίσχυση σε συνανθρώπους μας και σε προγράμματα της κοινότητάς μας αλλά και στην ευρύτερη κοινότητα στην οποία ζούμε. Επίσης, ενισχύουμε τις ανάγκες της εκκλησίας μας. Στις 10 Φεβρουαρίου πραγματοποιήθηκε με μεγάλη επιτυχία το ετήσιο γεύμα της Αγίας Φιλοθέης, προστάτιδας της Φιλοπτώχου. Ένα μέρος των εσόδων διατέθηκαν στον οργανισμό Anselma House (οργανισμός που παρέχει υπηρεσίες σε κακοποιημένες γυναίκες και παιδιά). Το επόμενο γεύμα που οργανώνει η Φιλόπτωχος θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Κυριακή των Βαίων, 28 Απριλίου μετά την Θεία Λειτουργία. Σας προσκαλούμε όλους να έρθετε να γιορτάσουμε μαζί σαν μία οικογένεια, καθώς όλοι μας ετοιμαζόμαστε για την Μεγάλη Εβδομάδα και την Ανάσταση του Κυρίου και Σωτήρα μας. Θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω όλα τα μέλη της Φιλοπτώχου που με την σκληρή δουλειά, υποστήριξη και ταλέντο έχουν κάνει το φιλανθρωπικό σκοπό μας επιτυχές. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church April / May 2013 Page 6 ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ ΤΡΙΤΗΣ ΗΛΙΚΙΑΣ Με την χάρη και ευλογία του Θεού, κοντεύει να συμπληρωθεί για αυτή την Εκκλησιαστική χρονιά το Πρόγραμμα της Τρίτης Ηλικίας της κοινότητάς μας. Απο τον περασμένο Σεπτέμβριο 2012, οι εκδηλώσεις του προγράμματος αυτού έχουν συμπεριλλάβει τα εξής θέματα: Εκδήλωση γνωριμίας με μουσική και χορό, ομιλία για θέματα του καρκίνου του προστάτη και του μαστού, προβολή Ελληνικής ταινίας, ομιλία για την υγεία του εγκεφάλου, ομιλία για τα θέματα της καρδιάς με ομιλήτρια απο τον οργανισμό Heart and Stroke, προβολή βίντεο για τα όμορφα τοπία της Ελλάδας. H ομιλία του Πάτερ Κωνσταντίνου για το Πάσχα, η οποία είχε προγραμματιστεί για τις 11 Απριλίου αναβλήθηκε λόγω της αναμενόμενης κακοκαιρίας για εκείνη την ημέρα και θα πραγματοποιηθεί τον Μαίο. Με μεγάλη χαρά θέλουμε να σας ανακοινώσουμε ότι το Πρόγραμμα της Τρίτης Ηλικίας θα συνεχιστεί και την επόμενη χρονιά με καινούργια θέματα και δραστηριότητες. Θα θέλαμε να ευχαριστήσουμε όλους τους συμμετέχοντες στο πρόγραμμα αυτό, για την συνεχή υποστήριξή σας, τις ιδέες σας και την προσφορά σας. Το Πρόγραμμα της Τρίτης Ηλικίας είναι ένα πρόγραμμα της Ελληνικής Ορθόδοξης Κοινότητας των Αγίων Πέτρου και Παύλου που δημιουργήθηκε τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2012. Since last September 2012, our events have included the following: A meet and greet afternoon with lots of music and dancing, a presentation on prostate and breast cancer, a Greek movie afternoon, a presentation on brain health, a presentation on Heart and Stroke with a speaker from the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a fitness class, and a cultural video screening on Greece s beautiful sites. Father Konstantine s presentation on Lenten Easter was cancelled due to inclement weather expected for April 11th, but it will be rescheduled for May. It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Seniors Program will continue to take place next year, starting September 2013, with new topics and activities. We would like to thank all of the Senior Program s participants, for their continuous support, ideas and contributions. The Seniors Program was established within our Sts Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Community in September 2012. Our main goals are to provide a variety of multi-interest topics and events for seniors of our community, in a positive and respectful environment, which enhances overall well-being. Our Retreat will focus on ways that we become new persons in Christ through the many opportunities we are provided in the Orthodox Church. We encourage all young people in Grades JK to 8 to attend. Children under 4 are welcome to attend with parent/guardian supervision. Students in Grades 9 and above are also needed to act as group leaders and assist with other activities. Their involvement can contribute toward their community service hours required for graduation from high school. Youth have been active since 2010 and continue to be an integral of our Greek Orthodox Community. This year, our G.O.Y.A. will be assisting the Church Council in honouring our Mothers & Grandmothers for Mother s Day on May 12 th. They will also have a presence during May 21 st celebrations when Father Konstantine receives the honour of being elevated to the office of Oikonomos. As well as in previous years, our G.O.Y.A. continues to have an important role in helping with the Greek Food Festival, which is Sat. & Sun. June 8 th & 9 th this year.
