3 Epistle - St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 5:8- W alk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light." Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart. Gospel - Luke 18:18-27 t that time, a ruler came to Jesus and asked him, A "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.' " And he said, "All these I have observed from my youth." And when Jesus heard it, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." But when he heard this he became sad, for he was very rich. Jesus looking at him said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Those who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?" But he said, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." The Orthodox Church is not in sacramental communion with any other church outside the Orthodox Christian Faith. 5 GOLF (Greek Orthodox Ladies Fellowship) The Greek Orthodox Ladies Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, December 15, at 10am in Mt. Tabor Hall. All ladies are invited to join us for fellowship and discussion of the book Thirty Steps to Heaven: The Ladder of Divine Ascent for All Walks of Life by Vassilios Papavassiliou. Copies are available in our bookstore. Men s Study Group The Men s Study Group will meet on Wednesday, December 9 in Mt. Tabor Hall. The group will start with a Lenten potluck dinner and at 7pm they will begin their study. The book they are reading is Surprised by Christ: My Journey from Judaism to Orthodox Christianity by Rev. A. James Bernstein. Copies are available in our bookstore. All TGOC men are invited! CASA Angels Tree The CASA Angels tree is once again up in our hall, full of wishes of children that without our help will not have a gift waiting for them Christmas morning. The task is simple: 1) pick up a card from the tree; on the bottom part fill out your name, and phone number and drop it in the basket under the tree; you keep the top part 2) purchase wish 1 or wish 2 or clothing for your child (all information is on the card) and 3) return it unwrapped to our church by Thursday, December 3rd. Please remember that everything needs to be at the church by Thursday, December 3. PHILOPTOCHOS CHRISTMAS CARDS! This year again, just stop by the Philoptochos table, and for a suggested donation of $25, you can add your name in the beautiful Christmas greeting that we send out to our members and to many more. It still serves as the source for the Old Testament readings in the various liturgical services of the Orthodox Church.
